I really disagree with your comment on Moriarty. Rugby seems to have this mentality that ‘niggling’ the opposition is somehow part of the game. So in the old days punching was just part of the game and now we allow so many other unsportsmanlike infringements. The Argentinian was attacking another Welsh player on the floor, he started a petty little scuffle and Moriarty decided to end it. Good on him. Moriarty should have seen red, but so should the Argentinian. It’s a bit like invading someone else’s sovereign territory, shooting at them and then waving the white flag as soon as your being over run and expecting to be treated nicely. Shabby display of cowardice.

The majority of the time it won’t lead to that because most of us don’t feel the need to. I was just thinking, “what on earth do you have to do to earn a red card in a sport like rugby?” Some of these should have ended in criminal charges for assault.
@WeLhOOse3 жыл бұрын
I’m guessing you’re new/unfamiliar to the sport so I’ll explain. Despite it being an incredibly rough game it has a LOT of laws to keep players as safe as possible. A bit of argy bargy is all part and parcel of the sport, a bit of scuffle where everyone is moshing having a dick measuring contest is all fine. This video is highlighting some especially disgusting acts that should have, as you said, resulted in charges for assault. The Duncan McRae vs Ronan O’Gara one (first clip) should’ve resulted in such a charge with gbh thrown on top of that. I believe it came out later that McRae was told to do so (not specifically to O’Gara) so premeditation should’ve been taken into account. Given that it didn’t result in a criminal charge however it should have at least resulted in a permanent ban. Ps sorry for the long reply 😅😁
@piscesman542 жыл бұрын
@@WeLhOOse I have to disagree. It's not fine and should have no place on a rugby pitch. If you can't keep your cool, play another less dangerous sport. This is not pleasant to watch and it puts players at risk. Neck tackling should warrant a ban for life. But if your opponent is crippled for life, nothing will fix that. It's a bloody disgrace.
@WeLhOOse2 жыл бұрын
@@piscesman54 I think you misunderstood what I was saying. Like I said, a bit of handbags, handbags meaning everyone getting in and beafing without throwing punches: grabbing each other’s shirts, pushing and shoving etc, is fine because the risk of unnecessary injury is extremely unlikely. When punches are being thrown on the other hand, then it becomes and issue.
@WeLhOOse2 жыл бұрын
@@piscesman54 I agree on the neck tackling, but only to an extent. If it was accidental or didn’t result in any serious injury then it should be fine unless it was clearly deliberate. If everyone was to be banned for a one off high tackle then the sport would die because some of the biggest and recognisable faces within the game, those who help bring in new players to rugby, would end up disappearing and severely impacting the intake of new blood

There is some issue recently about the abilities of Nic Berry as a ref. The performance of every referee should be scrutinised as every performance of every player; no problem with that. But, with that, should come the understanding that any referee is as human as a player. A player makes a mistake (knock on; forward pass etc.) and little is said about it. A referee makes a mistake and suddenly, the armchair critics come out. I played senior rugby for exactly 40 years and my experience tells me that we had good referees and very good referees - but never a match without them. So refs have good games and sometimes a bad spell in a game but, human error aside, I never met a ref who I thought was biased.

It’s not a red card vid without high tackle from Farrell

Is there anything more British in culture than after a vicious attack the referee politely explaining his decision to the player? That is not without irony.

Owen farrell is forever throwing high shots and shoulder charges, and never gets a second look from the refs. It's lead me to believr there's a conspiracy to protect Owen farrell. And the fact that the ref jumps over Owen to protect him, and doesn't give a damn that young lad lies on the floor unconscious only confirms my bias.😂
@alexwinfield95403 жыл бұрын
So the fact he got red carded is not a second look from the ref?
@lewisthompson11723 жыл бұрын
The ref jumps over him because he knows that the entire wasps team is about to maul him. So with a seriously injured player on the floor who the medics need to get to ASAP, the last thing the ref needs is a scuffle around an injured player. Solution? Stand over farrel so players can't get to him.

Sanctions applied to players who punch an opponent are always a joke. Really should be 12 month bans.

The Argentinian actually instigated the fight with the Welsh dude but many didn't notice it
@alexlaws15303 жыл бұрын
Doesn't matter at all. Yes the Argentinian was being a little shit, but there is absolutely no reason to try to choke someone out in a game of rugby.

@julienmccallin18483 жыл бұрын
my guy he tripped and acted like a scrum half, he's bloody half the size of the Welsh player. And even then, he bloody choked him for a good 5 or 8 seconds, with clearly no intent of letting go. He only let go when an argentine player came to get him away, what the argentine scrum half did doesn't matter
@nicolasalfonsoflorio92943 жыл бұрын
it was a normal push you see on every rugby match after things get a bit messy after a ruck. Choking someone half your size for pushing you? Maybe he should stay out of a rugby pitch

Good video 👍. USA 7 shoulder charges Farrell, straight red. Reverse the players & officials would have said Farrell clearly wraps his arm in the tackle.

@@bejaysus7388 Either you are making one of the dullest comments of all-time (Farrell is favoured/Farrell doesn't tackle with his arms/Farrell is dirty: all made ad nauseum) or the comment you made is incomprehensible. I know you were referring to the US player. I know Farrell has a reputation. I know many rugby fans don't like him. It's just boring.

Farell's tackle was horrendous. He knew before he even hit the ground. Glad to see he took responsibility and accepted his red like a Man!

The one where the English player drops the Irish player is one that gives me ptsd as I once got picked up and thrown without the ball braking my elbow the worst part being the ref didn’t see it and the player had no consequence

Whenever Farrell does something illegal he goes down as if he's the victim. His speciality is a no-arms tackle.

F off mate, he put his arms up in acknowledgment of his guilt. Anyone who’s not so hopelessly deluded by shear hate can see how obvious that is.
