exactly, Cecil - steady content + work ethic = subscriber growth; ppl will occasionally state here, “I wish I had the kind of vehicle procurement money he has!” - Well, Adam works diligently putting out the varied content; allows for new old vehicle acquisitions + storage equated to more more intriguing variety for up-close examinations - it’s a working closed circuit 🤔 no short (cuts) allowed, & I’m good with that

Hello Adam., from Regina Saskatchewan. Just watched this video last night and today was at a car show and a guy had the exact same car, except Aqua(turquoise) in color, white roof, but he had cruise, power vent windows, and the 428 V8. As well as A/C and power seat. He has had it since 2008. Same condition as yours. I couldn't believe my eyes.

5:50 With today's smaller cars, the Achilles heel of fastbacks has been a smaller trunk opening, making a hatchback configuration more advantageous, but with a car this long, it doesn't look like a problem at all. Cars certainly were rolling pieces of art in the late 1960s.

Back in the day, My uncle worked for Lincoln Mercury and as part of his position he would get a company car to drive every year, and at the end of that year would sell one to my father. As such, for many years we were a "Mercury" family, at one time both Mom and Dad had Marquis. Mom drove this same year Marquis, tiffany blue with a dark blue interior [same as yours] and surprisingly no vinyl top. As a kid it was fun to ride with Mom, she had a true lead foot and would hurl that monster up and down the mountains of where we lived. Ahhh... memories.

My mom too! After picking us up from school we'd get on a two mile stretch toward the house and she'd punch it! Opening up the 4 barrel on the 427 impala wagon. Would be up to 70 in a hurry before backing off. Fun to think about!

Styling is very nice in my opinion. It's not a Pontiac, but has some unique features that are "quite handsome" as you would say. I really like the interior of this car. As I've said before, so many of these cars were rusting out by the 70s. I am so happy to see that you find original cars in great shape and keep them that way. Second, I like it that you are collecting and preserving cars that many overlook in favor of muscle cars from the era. Thanks for another great video.

This was the first convertible I ever rode in and was hooked on convertibles since. Especially with your episodes, I have grown to appreciate these cars. I was a kid when these were new and would have been drawn to a Cougar. Now that I am an old guy, the quality of build and detail and the smooth ride is what makes me like these cars a lot now. My family had the 1967 colony Park wagon with the 410 four barrel. Had the vinyl wood grain on it add red interior very plush. I inherited it and immediately did some mods to the engine. First mod was a Holley four-barrel because the autolite four barrel what is a piece of junk. Add a dual exhaust with a crossover pipe all the way out the back exiting behind the rear tires. And then added a Edelbrock intake manifold. With 2.80 rear gear it became a real hi-way flier. One car I wish I still had. Never saw many even back then. Love you so show.

3:28 A comparative test between a '67 Lincoln Continental and a Marquis would be particularly interesting, since, despite the marketing attempts to suggest that they were related, the Marquis was more related to the LTD and both the lower-priced models probably had more of what luxury car buyers were seeking in those years, smoothness and quietness, than the larger, but unitized Lincoln. The areas in which the Lincoln had the potential to be superior to its body-on-frame stable-mates would be handling and steering accuracy, but I doubt Ford gave it a firm enough suspension or communicative enough steering for those advantages to matter much, though it was probably less prone to squeaks and rattles.

@ Adam You mentioned this Fomoco frontal styling theme drifted down from Lincoln to Mercury. For micro trivia you might enjoy that it eventually descended right down into Ford-Australia's ZH Fairlane range, including ZH Fairlane 500 and ZH Fairlane Marquis (1976~79). It's almost a carbon copy. Their rear aspect also looks more than vaguely familiar to the '69 Mercury, as shown at 6.04. Thanks for another entertaining and informative video!

Hi Adam. Love the channel. Australian petrol head here. Check out the 1977 Australian ZH Fairlane 500 and Fairlane Marquis. They were styled on the Mercury Marquis . It’s very similar and motoring magazines of the day made comment on the likeness. Actually back then, many Australian Fords used US trimmings. Eg interior lights, door mirrors , steering wheels etc. Same for Holdens using Chev bits, and Valiants using Chrysler …… even though our cars were locally built, they still had some US influences .

Nice. I like the circular speedometer in the middle. Our 1965 Mustang had the old style dash with the speedometer that ran left to right. When we got our 1966, Ford started using the circular dial, which I believe was originally on the GT in 1965, on their Mustangs. Ford only used front side marker lights in 1968 and reflectors on the rear. I guess that they figured that you weren't backing out onto main streets at night, or at all and the reflectors would suffice. I can't remember when they started using illuminated rear marker lights. A friend of mine's dad had a 1968 LTD fastback, totally loaded. Absolutely gorgeous. As usual, an excellent video.

A friend of mine when we were in high school drove a 1966 Ford Galaxie wagon with the 2 barrel 390. It wasn't going to run with a big block with a four barrel but it did make good torque. I'm amazed that Ford Australia had chosen a frontal style from the previous decade (in this Mercury) to use on their 76 Fairlane/Marquis, an Aus-only model built on a stretched Falcon chassis. Ours were only 4-door sedans. Very comfortable cars, great for towing and touring with the 250 six, or 302 and 351 Clevelands.

A very handsome vehicle, in a beautiful colour indeed. You are right about the startling side view Adam, the swoop of the roof, alongside the rear glass and sale area are gorgeous in its execution. Not a car available in Australia, sadly, but this impresses me very much. A spectacular side design in my opinion. Oddly, GM Holden used The Brougham name on its medium level vehicles, and in between I saw a lot of theft between GM and Ford vehicles in OZ. At that stage we did not export to the states, as we were to do later, and to provide to the South African market. I really miss that era of American car design externally, and on occasion, the interior design, where it was, or could be amazing in some of the earlier 60s cars. Lots of room inside, and a grand statement on the outside. Where I would want to break with tradition in having separate bucket seats up front. The bench style of seating disappeared here fairly early on, allowing far easier individual control.

Thank you Adam. Loaded "Marquis" indeed. It has power windows, seats and more. That whole afford Lincoln thing did work in the 70's 80's and 90's.
