@H2o Mechanic any tips for my line pressure gauge reading 21psi? i’ve reset my bladder tank pressure to 38psi (it was about 25lbs i) after verifying my pressure switch is 40/60. I also used the pressure switch cap to cycle the contacts. When i do that the line pressure gauge drops to zero then climbs back to 21psi.

DUDE!!! This video saved my Christmas!!!! Just went through the big freeze here in CO, and my pressure switch wasn't turning off the pump a couple days ago, so I thought an ice block had formed in the water feed, and I flipped the power off to try and save the pump from burning itself up. We were lower than -10F. Once it got above freezing I kicked the power back on, but no water pressure. I thought more melting probably needed to happen, but eventually I started worrying about the worst, like the pump was ruined or something. I started doing research on the internet for the components in my system, and wasn't getting anywhere. On one of the pages for well pumps was a link to a video. From there was a link to a suggested video on an overview of well pump systems. When I went to watch it, your video was suggested on the side. In your video you show the type of pressure switch I have, with the manual lever on the side. Mine was set to "Auto" with no water pressure showing on my gauge. Once you showed how to hold that lever at a 45 degree to start the pump again, and to hold it until the water pressure got up to 30psi and let off slowly, that was the ticket to get water back in the house! You Rock!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!🎄☃

Hello Sir. I have great news! I went back through everything and I took all of the plumbing apart to inspect all of the pipes and fittings. You had mentioned in another video that debris can clog the nipple to the pressure switch. The nipple was clear but because you mentioned debris, I also had a look at the check valve and lo and behold, there was sediment blocking the plunger. I would not have thought about that seeing as though all of the parts were brand new. It's an older well and after seeing the sediment .... now I want to drill a new one. Thank you so much for inspiring me to not give up. I'm a woman in my 50's and love to take on projects like this. Thank you!

Wow what an excellent learning experience your video have been. My daughter has a well pump that has gone bad and I needed to learn about well pump system asap. The kids can't afford to pay big bucks for a company to come out. The one guy they had out wasn't much help. I do a lot of stuff, plumbing, electrical etc so I have to give it a try first. I knew nothing at all about these systems but now I feel like I might be able to help her get water back up and running. She has a control box with a capacitor and what appears to be a hard start. The wires around those are all fried. Got new parts coming in and then the next thing is to diagnose why they are fried. If she needs a new pump I'm going to have to go against your advice and get one from Lowe's or home Depot because we don't have the money to buy a top quality one. Heck we don't even know how deep the well is. It's about 400° f in Florida right now so it's going to be fun working all day on this thing without any way to shower if I don't get it done in a day. This didn’t fix my problem, but I was able to rule out the switch and the tank. I believe the issue is upstream - pressure gauge on the tank is less than 10. 1HP control box is at the well head and is running (box feels warm to the touch), but no water is being pulled up to the 81 gal tank (40/60). Entire system was installed less than 2 yrs ago. Waiting for the company that installed it to call me back. Anyway, appreciate the content, I learned from it !

I was literally seconds away from pulling the whole tank out to try to find where the water leak was coming from thinking the bottom of the tank may have rusted out when I thought it might be a good idea to see what the internet had to say about low water pressure. But I couldn't tell without water pressure where the leak was at. You saved me at least a day of labor! Thanks bro!

@h2omechanic25 күн бұрын
@Sultan-kai 2 possibilities. 1. The tank is bad & needs replacing 2. The check valve in the pump is bad & its leaking, but if you have another check valve before the tank it is holding. This Allows the water to drain out of the pipe in the well, once the pump kicks on the pipe is empty (full of air) it then pushes that air into the tank & the house.

Glad I found this! Will pray this gets us going tomorrow. Just had a three day power outage in our greenhouses and ran our pump on a generator. It stopped working this evening right before the power came back on but the pump is still not working. Will try this tomorrow and see if it can get us going!

Your switch probably has a lever on the side of it. Hold it at a 45⁰ angle for 30 secs to build pressure

@@h2omechanic unfortunately I think it's the one without so will try some flicking. I'll test the bladder pressure too.

So turned out to be the best solution I could hope for. The double pull breaker had gone bad and one leg was dead. Found it this morning when I had a clearer head. Easy fix! Always start there I know and work down. This did give me a chance to change the gauge which had died and add air to the bladder. Was down to 20lbs. Should be running great now!

Thank you! You information helped me! I watched a couple of your videos and determined I probably put to much air pressure into my tank. I shut off valves to pump and house and released some air from the tank. Pump now is kicking out at 40 and turning on again at 20.

Direct and to the point. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Been in the trades since 1985 still ignorant of well systems ins and outs. I am less now once Again very much appreciated

Thank you very much. This is one of the best You tube videos I have ever seen. Very well done. Well articulated. Well filmed. Well explained. (No puns intended.) I feel like I completely understand the workings of a well pump now.

Help! Followed your directions, brilliantly articulated throughout to be honest, very easy to follow. We lost water 24 hours ago, it’s a weekend and can’t get anyone! Country living! We followed the instructions, the breakers on the switch all spark, so we’ve got power, the tank pressure seemed a little low at 20 (my switch D Square) doesn’t have a sticker but I do recall our pressure sitting around 30). Pumped tank to 28 and no change. Tried everything laid out in the video. The one thing I have noticed is we have a little control box on the tank, it has an on off switch, and a little spring loaded button with 6 written on it. I notice the box also has ‘overload 6a’ on the table. My deduction is our overload is triggered or is that suppose to mean the pump is running, cannot be sure. I do note that when I push the breakers back the green light goes off, again wouldn’t really tell me if that’s just switching the pump off or whether the system is no longer experiencing overload. Well definitely isn’t dry, the water table actually pushes through the top of the bore so we’ve definitely water there. One thing is we did have a maintenance guy inspect just on Friday, but can’t imagine what he could’ve done that would stop water coming through, I was with him when he turned the water on and I heard the system fill and pressure build. Currently dreading it’s the pump itself. I hear the capacitors go a lot but not sure if there’s a visual check? Great video by the way and on the off chance someone can spot my issue that would be amazing.

Thank you for this video and explaining the pressure switch. I did exactly what you did with the plastic cover and bumping the switch and boom I have water. Your the man. Thank you
