The one that confused me the most is that new Too Faced Gingerbread Extra Spicy (or whatever it's called) palette. I don't understand why they would make a "new" palette in the same line, with almost the same name, same packaging etc that has exactly the same colours as the first one! Like I couldn't even tell it was a new palette when I saw the pictures and I know others have said the same, it's such a shame actually because they missed a great opportunity to make another great holiday palette

And sure, may be it would've received more hype if they spaced it out more or put in soft glam in between, but i don't belive so. The Alyssa Edwards Collection was released when it was to be because of Dragcon LA. I would think like that release date was set in stone more so than the Rivera. The Riviera palette was probably release before it because of trend predictions and it was the palette that they could get together in time for a spring release

I think it makes sense that the morphe palette would be more affordable because JS cosmetics has incredible packaging. Those components really increase the price, so more simple morphe packaging would reduce the cost.

I think the ABH palettes had to be released back to back because Riviera is clearly a spring palette and the AE is a summer palette. Neither would have done as well if released in the fall or winter when people aren’t as interested in those colours. Unfortunately, both palettes appeal to the same type of consumer that likes colour more than neutrals so it was weird to see them so close to each other. Would probably have been better if they’d released one this spring and the other next year at the same time. I didn’t buy either because I’m more of a “neutral with a pop of colour” type of makeup wearer and I knew I wouldn’t use them enough to justify the cost. Was definitely surprising to see the second release with Alyssa Edwards because I did think “another one?”

I think I believe Jeffree with the not being able to produce at that price tag. He technically is an indie company and probably goes through extremely different production than Morphe products do. His company is also probably tied to contracts with labs etc so it probably is not that black or white. His palettes are really extremely expensive in my opinion. Considering he probably does speak to a young demografic that is not even able to dream about a 60$ palette that Morphe thing does kind of make sense. It's still weird though

A lot of makeup is higher priced just because of the prestige of the brand. It's not that it cost a whole lot more to make. It's a marketing thing.

Amazon is not as accessible internationally than you might think. I'm Belgian and if I really want to have something that is difficult to find in store or on other websites and Amazon is the only company that sells it for a normal price, then yes, I'll pay shipping and customs tax and all that. Amazon is usually the worst option for me except for if I use the German Amazon but the product selection is completely different and sometimes the prices are a bit higher for decent quality too. I know Americans seem to have this obsession with Amazon and I'm sure it is very nice when you live in the US but honestly, for me it's a very costly and slow shipping proces that is usually not worth my time. Gaga has gone gaga, this time not in a good way. Btw I'm a leo and I can tell you that nothing about that BH palette makes me feel excited at all. I'm not that bland.

I don't understand what people don't get about the Jeffree Star morpheus collab. There are plenty of non makeup brands that have higher end lines that also have cheaper lines that they sell in places like Walmart or Target. You know you're not necessarily getting the same quality or extras with packaging or what have you but you're getting the same designer and manufacturer. You see this all the time with things like baby products, companies will make a cheaper version to sell specifically at Walmart but then they will also make a much nicer version with better details, ease of use, and higher quality fabrics that is only available through them or select retailers. The item will have the same basic details but there are plenty of people who are quite happy with the lower end version and think they're getting their money's worth and there are people who are willing to splurge for extras because that's what they want. If you're a smart company you're going to want to hit people at all different price points to maximize who you can sell to.

Jeffree didn’t say that the quality of the two brands eyeshadows would be the same but rather he commended Morphe for delivering quality eyeshadows at their price point. If he were to put out an eye shadow palette at Morphe’s price point he would be devaluing his own brand since he’s set himself up on the higher-end of makeup price/quality. I think the collab was a long-time coming between the two and I’m happy that he doesn’t appear to be in it for the profit since it’s all being donated. Oh and I definitely second your comments on BH cosmetics and ABH. Both total blimps on the marketing!

I think the Jeffree Star and Morphe release is a little strange and i am not interested enough to watch his video about it but just based on the size difference of the companies I would think Morphe would be able to do a formula similar to JS's but cheaper. Jeffree Star is an indie brand, popular one but a relatively small one. Just based on volume Morphe would have a lot more buying power than JS which means they can get ingredients at a lower cost. Theoretically wouldn't it also be cheaper for a bigger company to do alot of things like Micro testing, Quality assurance testing, and ship into the US (especially with the current trade wars) because the collab palettes can be slotted in with normal production? There's probably more to it than just making a Jeffree Star palette that's more accessible and affordable but it seems like there would be some truth to it

I think abh should have launched the limited edition alyssa palette first then when it was no longer available they should have revealed riviera as a permanent part of their line. "The Jared palette" is such a great way to explain it. It's super weird. I also 'feel bad' when I see bh's zodiac releases lol Bite was a brand that did it successfully in 2018 and bh seems to be a slop in comparison but maybe people are buying them! I know Bite would get criticism each month bc 50% of people would be disappointed if it wasn't their perfect color but they would sell out often!

It was kind of random that Jeffree Star came out with a morphe palette...I did end up picking it up. And no, it's not the same quality level as his actual brand but I knew it wouldn't be. It's a morphe palette so the formula is fine (and maybe a little better quality than their other palettes but I haven't sat down and tried to compare) but it's not on the same level as any of his palettes I've tried. On Glamlite, yeah the food theme was kind of weird, but man did it work for them! The formulas are pretty bomb on their palettes though. Definitely worth picking up if you haven't tried it! I will say they're a pain to store!

The Morphe palette is not the same quality as the JS formula based on reviews I’ve seen, no matter what JS implies or says. It’s not a confusing release to me because he’s targeting a demographic who doesn’t want to or can’t afford his palettes but may want similar colors or something from him because they like him as an influencer. The Morphe shadows aren’t as good as his eyeshadows, at least the more recent ones that I have. I can’t speak about the quality of any palette before blood sugar palette. The glamlite palettes follow a theme which is not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s a way to help them stand out from the competition in an over saturated market. I don’t know how I feel about food theme palettes. I’m kind of put off by them and they are so bulky to store.

Respectfully disagree on JS x Morphe. I would consider Jerrod blandino as just a brand owner whereas JS is both an influencer/ online personality and a brand owner. JS has a high end price point to his own cosmetics line and, whilst many may not like his packaging, he pushes the envelope in this regard and you can tell that time and resources are invested into the branding as well as formula. Whilst the creative aspect of his brand pushes the price point up, he is savvy enough to recognise that with 15 million + followers, his brand is not accessible to everyone... but if he made cheaper items under his own line, he could sacrifice the luxury experience his existing customers are buying into when they purchase from him. In order to keep his own existing customer base happy, stay true to his chosen route for the line he owns AND tap into the more budget end of the market, he has decided to put his name on another brand’s product... it’s not Jeffree star cosmetics x morphe, it’s Jeffree himself, the products are not concept based like his own brand’s are, they are more inspired by his own personality (similar to how other influencers would be inspired for a collab). Basically, he’s wearing two hats, brand owner and influencer, and managing to please everyone’s pocket all at once... I think it’s genius. No matter our personal views on him, he’s switched on business-wise.

Jeffree said he wanted to give his subscribers a way to have a more affordable eyeshadow formula then his brand but he did morphe he good eyeshadow formula and his brand shouldn’t affect him doing stuff with other brands. I also think Jeffrees make up is more expensive because of his packaging. For example his blue blood and the red one are in a coffin that has little prongs to open nd close it
