You can tell that most of the reactors have watched too many CSI style shows that they think it's so easy to catch someone. As someone who has studied forensics, mostly forensic anthropology, it is a lot harder than these shows make it seem to catch someone. Many serial killers are highly intelligent and can remove all traces of their identity and hide what they're doing.
@squishy_fishy96682 жыл бұрын
Seriously, I was getting irritated at all the constant, "oh they did all this? They should be caught now. Too easy to not catch them." Like, really? I listen to several different TRUE crime podcasts and KZbin channels, and the sheer amount of cases that never go anywhere, even with what seems like ample evidence, is devastating. They never would have made those comments if they knew
@juanita_rocksteady27612 жыл бұрын
As someone who worked in law enforcement, you are correct. We call it the "CSI" effect. These ridiculous shows that catch the killer in one hour. 😒

That's why it's safe to say that learning self-defense like martial arts or even know how to use a knife for fighting or learning to use a gun for protection, is one way to protect yourself against these serial killers, because you never know your own safety, if you're not ready to defend yourself and you're being defenseless then that's the end of it. It is a goodbye Self-defense is very important.

People forget that BTK got away with his crimes for decades. The only reason he finally got caught was because be missed the notoriety and started sending the police messages that they were finally able to trace. It also took them decades to catch the Golden State Killer because he was moving from place to place in California...and possibly other states. At one time I believe he even became a police officer in one of the places he lived.

Living in Europe, I don’t really understand all the Craigslist related murders and crimes in the USA. All European countries have the equivalent of that site. And some limited drama, the crooked plumber who did a bad job, the shady car salesmen there, but the risks are rare and only financial. My female friend often travels Katowice to Ostrava (Poland to Czechia) and back, and as bus connections are rare and train connections use a track listed for renovation for forever, so they go insanely slow, she often uses more or less official taxi transfers, both Polish and Czech, sometimes also driven by migrants from other nations, found online. Never was in danger. Cause Katowice… or Ostrava… just don’t have serial killers. I know the violent crime rate in the US is much higher sure, but why are so many serial… and never found? I mean 18-20% solved? WTF… 18-20% UNsolved would look bad in most cities in continental Europe 😢

@pannnary16642 жыл бұрын
I get that but unfortunately that’s what you have to do. Information is key. Vague info will not help anyone. But giving them a name they may help identify someone and help save or even finally arrest them. Like how you going to describe someone with no info. No name. No gender. No race. No motive. Nothing you have to give these people cause it opens the possibility of solving it even if the chance are low
