Okay, here we go with Lady Elizabeth Bathory. This woman was known for her beauty. She married the wealthiest noble when she was quite young. As a wedding present, her husband was so in love with her that he gifted her an extreme lavish estate, making Lady Bathory a unique, beautiful, noble, rich, woman of position with land ownership in her own right. (Unheard of at that time.) When her husband passed in battle, Lady Bathory inherited all of her husband’s lands outright and began management of the many estates personally. Immediately noblemen began courting her. After refusing everyone and making it known that she would not marry again, “suddenly” rumors began making their way to the courts. When the rumors that she was murdering her maids didn’t yield any arrests, the rumors began gaining more gusto. Elizabeth was then accused of drinking the blood of the maidens she was “murdering” and was also accused of murdering children- and drinking their blood too. The courts were going off a “handful of testimony” and finally decided to sentence her to death- by blocking off all exits from her castle. She starved to death. Immediately after Lady Bathory died, and I do mean immediately, the noblemen who were rejected, freely divided her many estates. You see, Lady Bathory wasn’t only the most beautiful woman in the land, she was the wealthiest and most powerful individual as well- above all men in the land. Since she was also in charge of collecting taxes from her subjects, the noblemen who wanted her position, her lands, her riches, and her, were not shy about celebrating death. Men of that time, of that region were NOT used to being ruled over by a noble woman. After her death, some of the maids came forth to denounce their testimony as having being bribed and paid substantially, to betray their mistress. History is interesting indeed.

Studying female murderers is fascinating. They are just as bad as males and their reasons are just as sick, ain't a damn thing funny about it. But I feel like they are undermined a lot because double standards, so much so, a lot of people get on Tik Tok and tell us to make sure we are wary of men because women who do such things aren't documented as much, especially because they avoid documentation more than males who don't get documented. All this makes me want to pay attention to dangerous women even more than men, because if they are (supposedly) less than, then they can slip through the cracks easier, making them more slick.

I mean probably in modern depictions but the original Romanian vampire depictions where more like spirits of anyone who had a sinful death like suicide and they would go to their family and try to let them in thats where the whole vampires can't enter without permission thing came from and there was an old trick to buy someone time from a vampire they could pour rice or salt around the grave and a vampire couldn't leave until they counted each grain

Actually, killing infants in Japan used to be a thing. It was usually done by the mother or a midwife (or you could find women, who you could pay to do it). It was most common in the Edo period and it was seen as "the responsible thing to do". There were no reliable options for birth control and abortion and the Japanese believed that if the baby is killed right after being born, it's okay because they are not fully a human, yet. So there might have been many women in Japanese history, who killed hundreds of infants. If you want to know more about it, they called it "mabiki".

Elizabeth Báthory (lived: 1560-1614) was a noble woman from the Hungarian Kingdom, who according to many historians research, had too much power for woman back in the day. They speculate that these accusations were fabricated by noble men to gain her power, who also made her adult children testify against her. No one knows for sure if she killed, but these are the two theories.

It just goes to show that Evil can appear in any form. I think people don't think of women as killers or bad due to how we have this perception that women generally are the caretakers, so it's more of a shock when they do these kinds of things. Yeah, us women, we tend to get away with stuff more. I think it's why I myself am more critical of people of my own gender because I myself am a female and I know what we're capable of.

I've noticed that people seem to react differently to female serial killers than they do male serial killers.
@janiexoxo2 жыл бұрын
Yup, female killers in general get that reaction. It’s because women are “supposed” to be gentle and motherly. In reality, women tend to pick ways to kill that are less overt and violent than men, many use poison or pick victims like babies that can’t really fight back.
@NetanelWorthy2 жыл бұрын
It’s interesting how he surprised that she was a midwife. Women working a wide variety of jobs like today, is relatively new. Within relatively the past 100 to 200 years. Most women were nurses, midwives, teachers, or homemakers. Others finding work through prostitution. That was really it. The men were the breadwinners. Society and times have changed, but having so many of these women in the past be midwives it’s not really shocking. That was one of the main careers for women.

Why did Ishikawa only get 8 years for her crimes? Because in order to charge her for further crimes all families who hired her would have to come forward and that would be incriminating themselves for the murder of their own children. Those families were also poor, foolish, and scared; as far as they knew she was helping them and isn't a criminal. Furthermore, those families probably don't have the time or resources to travel to the court/city and back. Would they even be believed when they stand trial?
