OMG girlfriends are really standard accross the world with the hot and cold switching!! I finally bought an american spec LR4 after a year+ of searching! I won’t get to change engine bearings like you guys but it will be the equivalent on the timing chain side. Too bad you can’t make SCV6 videos, that would be so cool to compare engines. So after a security inspection and 1 week of ownership, I took a 2500+ Km drive from Canada to Florida, USA. What a cool drive those machines are!! Thanks for your great content and Happy 2023 to the LR Time family!!!

I have Christian for that. 😅👍 Also there were no indications, whether it be a banging noise or a change in driving behavior, at all. We were actually both really suprised. And we do suspect, since we changed the airsuspension valve that very morning, that the drop links broke when we lovered the car off the lift. You are supossed to have it in offroad height when you lift a car with airsuspension. And because of the deflated airsuspension, it was in bump stop mode, which is not good. 🙋‍♀️Vera

Happy New Year Vera and Christian. What dedication editing a video on New Years Day. With all the rules and regulations in Germany you are allowed to set off fireworks? That is totally illegal in Australia with one exception which is for one day each year in the Northern Territory and then any unused fireworks must technically be returned. BTW Christian do you use anti seize on your wheel studs?

They want to ban fireworks every year, just like the “no speed limit” on the Autobahn. But somehow it’s not happening, luckily. No, I do not use any lubricant on wheel nuts. I was told to keep them clean but dry. We use copper grease on the locator so. Christian

Thanks for your video on the replacement of the front air suspension block on my D3 2009. I have had one major problem in that when towing my caravan the auto disengages and slips into neutral although the stick still shows drive. I pull up switch of the engine wait 30sec restart and its ok for another couple of hundred Km. Dealers dont have a clue on the problem. I had to put in a whole new shift .

I recently bought a Ford Falcon and changed all the oils and fluids. yes a real Gulf oil spill scenario. no wonder the greenies want electric. you two put just the right amount of serious engineering with fun into your videos.

I’ve been having problems with the drop links on my discovery 2 which we’ve had from new… it’s a 2001 with 200,000 miles and we managed to get 170,000 out of the original Land Rover drop links. The first one came out the joint on the rear so I decided to change them all. Since then I’ve had to replace loads, so many I can’t even remember! Every one which failed was the weld breaking on the rods, really cheap nasty design.. I’ve now replaced them all with Meyle and they’ve been fine. I compared them to the Chinese crap and the difference in quality is worlds apart.. roll on another 170,000 miles with them hopefully! Lol

Ihr zwei seid wirklich einmalig in der deutschen KZbin-Auto-Selbstschrauber-Welt. Unaufgeregt, natürlich und vor allem mit viel technischem Know-How unterwegs! Diese Kombination aus einerseits bei Schneegestöber mal schnell mit dem guten China-Ratschenkasten die Zugstrebe für den TÜV tauschen und andererseits euren fundierten technischen Erklärungen zu diversen Themen, wie die Kurbelwellen/Ölpumpen Problematik, ist schlichtweg unvergleichbar unterhaltsam und informativ zugleich. Macht unbedingt weiter so, ich bin gespannt was da noch alles so kommt. Stichwort Grenadier... ;) Vielleicht sieht man sich ja mal zufällig auf einer Messe oder sonst wo auf der Welt! Grüße von einem, der ebenfalls in der Automotive Entwicklung tätig war und dennoch gerne selbst ölverschmiert mit Sand in den Augen unterm Auto liegt.

What every long-term Land Rover owner needs....a hydraulic hoist! I've seen several other videos from you both. I know you love your Discoveries. Have you ever considered changing over to another brand, such as Toyota Land Cruiser or Jeep Grand Cherokee? I owned and drove Land Rovers, mostly the Series vehicles, and Rover cars from 1964 to 1993. I owned my own "Genuine Rover" parts business in San Diego, California from 1974 to 1986. I've drive only USA domestic automobiles and Jeeps since the 1990's. I've had my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon since April 2012. My Jeep has been almost 100 percent reliable. (Only its navigation system had to be replaced, and that while under the original factory warranty.) A belated Happy New Year to the two of you! (P.S. I used to sell Land Rovers for Schubach Motors---long gone---in Missoula, Montana.) Andy McKane, 9 January 2023, Maunaloa, Molokai, Hawaii.

We prefer LR. We had several Jeeps in the US. Reliability is just not very important to us. We never had a breakdown on the road. Our US vehicles broke down regularly with simple to fix issues but they broke down. Then there is the fuel efficiency of the LR Diesel which is most important to us. Much better than on Toyotas with there completely outdated technology. But we don’t drive Toyotas in a equivalent age of a Discovery because they are so damn ugly. Ancient ones are nice but no longer allowed in Germany unless you skip city’s and pay 2 x the tax of a Discovery. Christian

Here in the US, I just ordered Motul X-Clean Gen2 5w-40 to replace the 0w-30 VW 507 oil in our Q7 V6 TDI. This Motul qualifies for the new VW 511 rating, which appears be identical to the 507 spec except that it’s 5w-40. It’s still ACEA C3 rated. Hope this helps the VW/Audi folks. Thanks for the encouragement to do my research. 😊

Happy New Year.. and I trust you went to church on Christmas day.. Vera said something about needing a new battery ok and I presume that means a new expensive 90AH battery. Well you don't need that capacity if you make a simple change to the battery wiring. We just did a 1200 Km round trip with our small caravan with our Disco 3 fitted with a quantum battery! It is exactly the same I have installed on my Toyota High Ace van and my wife's Toyota Corolla except they don't need a battery isolator like the Disco 3 does. My quantum battery is a high quality 20AH AGM motorcycle battery (made in the USA) paralleled with six Chinese 500 mfd supercapacitors. I think the only reason for fitting a 90AH battery to the Disco 3 was the parked and locked service current measured at 352 milliamps! I fixed a manual battery isolator switch to the back of the bull-bar connected between the battery +ve and the relay/fuse bank so it does not isolate the battery from the starter motor and alternator so if it is disconnected when the engine is running it will not destroy the alternator. I also added a small solar panel (sits on the dash) permanently wired to the battery which works very well for longer time storage (not in a closed garage).. but I know you don't have bull-bars or sunlight so this might not help Vera.

I have a 2012 LR4 with the 5.0L Gasoline engine. It has 140,000 km on the clock. Wondering if I should switch to a heavier oil than 5w-20? Any thoughts. Still on original timing chains, no issues at the moment. Cheers!

Why be an adult and try to determine what your car needs? Let the government do it for you, they know best. I lived in Minnesota which has zero vehicle inspections and I lived in New York State which does have inspections? You know what the difference is? In Minnesota you don't have to pay $25 a year to some mechanic and the state. You just figure out that you need new tires or lights or windshield wipers all by yourself.
