I live in Cali. The "Caren Act" is legit. After the Central Park Karen incident in New York, California proposed the bill & it was approved in 2020. Basically, any Karen/ Ken who calls 911 about some racial bs, gets in trouble. Idk if other states have it. 😩😂

I traveled with someone a couple years ago to Italy and she literally said, “why doesn’t anyone speak English?” We were in a small town in Tuscany. Meanwhile I was being gifted limoncello and wine at places because they were excited to see an American who was trying to speak Italian. I always learn at least how to order, ask for directions and shop before traveling to another country, she refused to even try.

Something similar happened to me in like 2008! (So even before Karens were as common as they are now) I was at a hotel's gift/candy shop getting snacks for me and the guys I shared the room with (school trip) and this American woman (I know she was from the US because she yelled it enough) was berating the front desk clerk and her colleague for speaking French instead of English and asked why most shop keepers spoke mostly French too...Before the front desk lady (who was super nice) could answer, I piped up and said: "They're speaking French because we're in PARIS FRANCE dummy!" The "Karen" left in a huff to her room and I got my snacks for free!

And it doesn't even matter if your Italian is awful. Just the fact that you are visibly TRYING makes all the difference. I've also been given special treatment in other countries, because they were so pleased I wasn't being "The Ugly American." For example, out with a group of Americans. They're looking at the menu and requesting changes and wanting hamburgers and the like. I just looked around, smelled something I liked, and located it at someone else's table, and said, in my broken attempt at the local language, "That smells good. Give me that, please." Guess who got free cookies at the end of her meal? Also, for travelers who don't speak the language, at all, you can still get a good meal, if you just follow your nose. Walk past restaurants until one has an aroma that grabs you, walk in, sit down, and do gestures about, "MMMMMM, that smells GOOD! Give me SMELLS YUMMY, please." You might not ever find out what you ate, but you'll probably really enjoy whatever it is. Seriously, though, if all you learn is "Please," "Thank you," "Yes," and "No," and you gesture with a BIG smile, and show that you are not only willing to be pleased, but ALREADY ARE, they will like you. And never ask what a dish is until AFTER you ate it. If you liked it, while you were eating it, don't get grossed out, if they tell you it was something uncommon in America, such as horse meat (Horse is actually delicious), or something like that. Just remember: You tried it and you LIKED it. Of course, you don't have to ask what it was, if you're worried.

The dumbest thing I have ever heard came from one of my old classmates. In this point in my life, I'm...11-12 years old and kind of a nerd. One day we're studying astronomy when out of nowhere I hear: "I don't think there even is a space". Being completely confused, I questioned her and for what she said is the most incomprehensible crap I have ever heard uttered out of anyone's mouth: "I don't believe in space. I mean, all there is, is the sky. That's that." In response, I screamed in front of the class: *Bitch, are you dumb?!*

Well.... I have a good friend that is very religious. I am... not. Not even a little bit. She once approached me all worked up (this was after we had known each other wayyyy too long for there to be any doubt on where I stand lol) and just muttered around "oh my god... I can't BeLiEvE this. Can you believe this crap?" What she could.not. believe, was that people out there were "actually trying to make us believe we're related to apes." . . . I.... I really, really thought she was joking. Alas, she was not. Sometimes stupidity scares me a lot more than mania. Love her, she's a good friend... but damn. I will never forget that conversation.

Dude when I was a kid I was a big nerd too and I was proud of it. We were learning about space and the planets in my 2nd grade class and I was reading a book about the planets with a few of my classmates. I pointed at Jupiter and said “That red spot is a giant storm on the planet!” This dumbass little mf sitting next to me said “That’s not a storm, it’s a ketchup stain” and I almost fought him 😂😂 I was so advanced and ahead of my classmates at a young age and now I can’t even multiply or divide big numbers in my head at 22 😭

As a L&D nurse, I can tell you that an induction booking is NOT an appointment. It is always subject to what else is going on that day. I remember back in the day accidentally building a tree fort on our neighbors property (in the woods) and we were asked to take it down. But we understood we shouldn't have put it there. There was time not that long ago, when diesel fuel was dirt cheap compared to regular gas, i knew alot of ppl buying themselves big pick-up trucks that ran on diesel engines for that reason alone... flash forward to current day, they curse their purchase every time to roll up to pump at the gas station

Stupidest thing I hear often is uber drivers claiming to be allergic to dogs. I text my drivers beforehand to make sure a service dog would be ok, and they usually say yes. When they pull up and see that service dog is a doberman I get “oh sorry Im allergic to dogs.” Or “I dont have a car seat cover for the dog” so they cancel the ride and call me a new driver. I usually go through 2 - 4 drivers before getting where I need to go.

So while a chihuahua wouldn't be a service dog for someone who needed help with balance or getting to their feet, they could be a seizure alert dog and trained to fetch medicine bottles, etc. So, really, any breed could be a service dog depending on what help the person needs. There are even service miniature ponies! :)

Yes! We live in a locked apt building and someone keeps jamming things in the door to keep it open. We keep removing them because we like safety and jamming the door open messes with the closing mechanism. One day the person has enough and left a note that said "if the door does not stay open, at least try to close it softly. The door closing is too loud". All that because the door shuts loudly? Really? I had a whole box of ear plugs. I took out 2 pair for myself and left the rest of the box on the ledge of the window near the door. If a door is too loud for you, you shouldn't be in an apt with 11 other units.

The beep beep isn’t an issue. It’s part of being a person on a planet with a lot of other persons. However, I did live in one place once where, and mind you they got home every night at around 6pm, the car would go beep beep at 10pm. Except not just beep beep. It was beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep. And then it would continue to happen every ten minutes or so. This continued for several weeks. It was like they just sat in their apartment locking and unlocking their car during commercial breaks in their late night TV program. Same folks had a late-night party and left chicken bones and greasy paper plates in the bushes along the sidewalk. Which I had to pry out of my dog’s mouth the next day.

Okay story time: Me and someone I use to hang with (a girl) was chilling at my mom’s house. She was talking to me about how her mom is repainting her living room. I ask what color. She goes on to say “idk how to describe it. It’s somewhat like a dark white.” I was stunned trying to understand wtf dark white is. Then I realized she was trying to describe grey. I look at her concerned and confused. I asked her if she meant grey. She goes on to say “No it’s not that dark. It’s lighter but not exactly white.” Her logic threw me completely off. I’m thinking to myself "is that not light grey!? Because dark white is not real!!!” After that conversation she had to go home. She needed to be alone to think about what she just said.

For some reason this reminds me of the time I encountered a Karen at my job. ok quick story I promise: I was just clocking out from my job cause I was done for the night and decided to do a little shopping for myself, I get up to the self check out and all I hear is some women continuously saying "excuse me, excuse me" to literally no one cause they were all shitting down everything for the night. so finally one of the co workers who I was actually pretty cool with came out from the back and said "yes hi, can I help you?". She was stating her problem and the co worker calmly said "ok well I'm sorry the customer service desk is closed now, it closes at 8:30 so maybe come back tomorrow?", and this Karen asked what his name was, and he gave it. Then she said "ok well I'll be sure to tell your boss and higher ups about your behavior cause you were incredibly rude" and stormed off. I couldn't help myself but to laugh.

I had something similar. Some people asked me what “that lady’s” name was because she said “sorry we don’t have the product in store. It’s only online.” I gave a fake name. Same job, a had a lady chew out my manager and myself because we kept asking her to leave. Why did we keep asking her to leave? Because she came in an hour before closing, sat down, and started using our wifi to do some paperwork. Which we didn’t care about, she wasn’t stealing so who cares. But, an hour and a half later - remember she came in an hour before closing - we asked her to finish up, the store is closing. That was the only person I ever threatened to call the cops on. And there were druggies in the area who would come in and spend an hour checking out our laptops… that they never ever bought…

But that merited her screaming at me and then having the gaul to tell me 'don't get upset' when she finally realised she'd sent me into a panic attack. I play guitar, and I was doing practice runs with my amp on. It was the middle of the day, and I had the volume down low. I have a solid state amp and my bedroom was the size of a postage stamp; for anyone who doesn’t play guitar, that just means I could get a good sound without having to turn my amp up real loud. When I started 9 years ago, we were given a flyer from the east Rochester Police department that was supposed to give us tips on how to prevent a robbery. There are diesel pumps specifically designed for smaller cars/trucks that take diesel. She's still at fault, though. It's not that hard to identify what type of fuel your car takes. And there are LITERALLY SIGNS ON EVERY PUMP IDENTIFYING THE TYPES OF FUEL. DONT BE A KAREN!!!

Where i live the handles are different colored too. Black handles are regular gas. Yellow are the diesel. Plus most gas stations only have 1 or two combo gas/diesel pumps. If this Karen went to a gas station here and used the wrong one she'd be laughed out of the court. I mean even my kids know the difference and they're 7 and 10! At Walmart (of course) This lady sat on my mother and told her there was seats outside if she needed to sit somewhere. One of the dumbest things I've ever heard was about 15 years ago and it's burned into my memory because it was also scary for me. I was leaving a 24 hour Dunkin Doughnuts around midnight walking back to my car, when a group of those old "Preachy" women literally cornered me before I could even unlock my door and get in. They started their "Have you found God? God is great" etc. speech. When I simply said something like "Sorry, I don't believe in God" trying to get into my car. I'll never forget the insane look in their "leaders" eyes when she said this. "WHY!? You're such a young white man/boy, why would you deny the almighty?" "WHERE are your parents?" "Why are you out so late?" "Why are you drinking that *Slur for a certain ethnicity that's not white or Africans* devil drink?" (Side note the people who owned and worked at the dunkin were from India). Thank whomever that some cops had pulled up to get their coffee and saw me cornered, unable to get into my car by them.
