Just a note on the Benkei story. Most of the details about his life were written a few hundred years after he died in a work called 'Gikeiki' so most likely some of the stories were greatly exaggerated by storytellers by the time they were written down.

This story reminded me of the battle of Stamford bridge. One viking berserker asked for permission to die, holding the only escape route for his king Harald Hardråde. He cut down multiple foes, and arrows did not make him flinch. His foe had to find a boat, and stab the berserker with spears from bellow to bring him to his knees. Even after he was stabbed multiple times and sitting on his knees cluhing his axe, his enemies were reluctant to aproach the viking. His final stand alowing his king and a few viking ships to escape back to Norway.

I have such a story too. My great-grandfather fought in World War II with the rank of lieutenant. His detachment was assigned to take one of the heights during the breakout of the siege of Leningrad. During the battle, at some point he realized that the orders from the leadership had stopped coming. Retreating to the major's position, he found him killed by a stray bullet. Realizing that his squad had stopped advancing long ago, he personally took command and led the army forward. By this point, the German forces did not expect an offensive, believing that they had already won. Eventually, with numerous losses, my grandfather stood at the top of the height and fell bleeding. He had 6 bullet wounds, but he continued to give orders. Eventually, he lost consciousness. He was taken to the hospital, and there he died three days later

Those who could, after the war, reburied their ancestors. But my great-grandmother did not believe in his death, and refused to take the body of the "stranger". I'd really like to add one Perosn to this list: Andreas Hofer. He was a common Man who led a huge revolt against the Bavarians who occupied Tyrol in 1809. He managed to win Battles where he was outnumbered and had worse equipment. He was even lifted into Nobility be Emperor Francis II of Austria. Eventually though his luck ran out and he was captured after a bounty was set on his head. He was taken to Mantua where he was sentenced to Death (by direct order of NAPOLEON himself). He refused to have his eyes covered before the excecution was carried out by a shooting squadron. The first Salve hit him badly, but his only remark to the Officer was ,,Ach, wia schiasts Es schlecht"(Oh, how bad you shoot/aim). After that he stood up again. Still, he didn't die and was Breathing, even though he was injured really badly and laying unconscious in the ground. After that, the Officer used his Pistol and gave Hofer a shot to his head ending his suffering. Hofer is widely regarded as a National Hero in Tyrol/Austria.

Naw Yi's 2nd "resurrection" to his post was even more diabolical. Won Gyun got his aim by sending Yi to prison but unbeknownst to Won Gyun, Yi himself had powerful allies in the court that outranks Won Yong 2x over and that's Yu Seong-ryeong and Jeon Tak. Jeon-tak pleaded with the king that the time for infighting isn't now and Yi had already done his work and proved it all by sinking the Japanese fleet with just over 25 ships in his own retinue against hordes of Japanese ships whereas Won Gyun had proven nothing. The king reluctantly released Yi back but again stripped him off his generalship and made him a buck private. HOWEVER, the naval post that he was sent to was too confused and didn't get why he was a private thus instead of following what the king ordered, the general of the unit that Yi was sent to serve passed command of the unit on the sly back to Yi as he himself was Yi's subordinate in the previous engagements. Whilst still being a private, Yi didn't give up and gave instructions for the admiral of the unit to keep training whilst he drew up more plans and blueprints for more turtle ships and other various ships to build. On the other side, Won Gyun was getting royally screwed by his actions as he underestimated the Japanese when he was goaded into a battle and charged into the fray at Chilchonryang and got the entire Joseon fleet killed including himself and his co-commander. Once the news reached Seoul, the king instantly fainted and the whole court panicked. They quickly sent news to Yi and reinstated him to once again lead the naval forces which was now even more decimated that went from 100 over ships straight down to just 32.

Yes, that one is 100% clearly believable. Lol.

Two of the most epic deaths that I can remember of the top of my head are: The three brazilian soldiers in the Italy campaign that fought against a hundred german soldiers; they were low on ammo but they refused to surrender. They started blasting against the nazis, and some say that the germans thought they were fighting against an entire battalion. Hours later, they were dead, and the germans praising their bravery made three graves with a small piece of wood reading "three brazilian heroes". The other one is from roman times. In a nutshell, a deacon called Lawrence was persecuted because the prefect of his town demanded that the treasure that the church was holding was given to the town, and Lawrence refused. The prefect was so angry that made Lawrence be tortured in a grill with hot coal beneath, and several hours of torture later, Lawrence declared: "I'm well done in this side, turn me over!". He is today the saint patron of cooks, chefs and comedians. Absolute madlad.

For a part 2 of this you should cover General Antonio Luna, a Filipino who was the leading general against the American invasion back in the early 1900’s. His name was so powerful that the president at the time (Emilio Aguinaldo) got scared that Luna will take over his position as the president while at war, and that Aguinaldo (or in some newly discovered historical prints, Aguinaldo’s mother), ordered the ambush execution of General Luna. He was shot and stabbed over 30 times while still standing and yelling “TRAITORS” to his fellow soldiers. Truly one of the most badass people in Philippine history

Yi Sun-Sin has a shrine dedicated to him, is remembered as the greatest naval commander in all of history, and he now has a Naval award in Korea named after him. Admiral Yi was a patriot through and through, and he cared for Korea as a nation more than he cared for its king. And ironically, the people who respect Yi almost as much as the Koreans do are the Japanese. Admiral Togo, a famous Japanese admiral in pre-WW1 Era, has been described as the Nelson of the East, and at a party held to honor Togo's greatest victory, when a guest compared Togo to Admiral Yi, Togo himself took exception, saying "It may be proper to compare me with Nelson, but not with Korea's Yi Sun-sin, for he has no equal." The man ended his life with a 780-0 record of ships sunk vs ships lost under his command. That's fucking insanity, even with a big technological disparity, and it's not like he was taking Ironsides into battle against a fleet of canoes.

My Great Grandpa fought in a war, and he earned a silver star and purple heart for taking out a squad of enemy soldiers on their way to discovering a stash of gas and fuel, which if he hadn't single-handedly stopped them all, being shot in the jaw and his partner beside him quickly killed, the whole battle would've gone an entirely different direction.

That's a great video, pretty interesting stories and yeah - this IS epic, it's like hearing a story from a book or a video game. But i know for a fact, there's more stories with epic finale like those, so i have a suggestions to make for the next video about it (if you intend to make second part): 1. The battle for height 224,1. It happened on the night from 13-14 of September 1943, where a squad of 18 riflemans had breached enemy's defence line, but suddenly got incercled. Full night they were fighing, outnumbered and exhausted, man was falling after man, but they kept fighting back on this height. In the end, only 2 of those 18 men survived, one of which got captured by enemy, while the second one was found by allies on the morning. By my information, those 18 men had killed about 150-200 enemy's infantry (maybe exaggerated), while getting shot by 2 tanks, artillery and even bombed from the sky, in the night. But i have more suitable story. 2. A lone T-34 against an armoured train. It happend somewhere in the summer of 1944, when soviet's 15-th Gvardian tank bragade was ordered to capture the railroad station. The tank with only 2 men left (other 2 was injured before), got ahead of everyone and breached to the station, when they saw an armoured train starting to retreat, They started to move towards it, trying to shoot it down, but, sadly, the return fire from the train damaged the tank and it's start to burn. But at that moment the tank commander, Dmitry Komarov, ordered the driver, Mikhail Bukhtuev, to ram the train. At full speed, on the burning tank, they crashed into the center of the train, knocking out two axles on the cars, thus immobilizing it. Unfortunately, the driver was killed in the ramming, but the commander survived and after the battle hid in the woods until the Allied forces arrived. Unfortunately he did not live long and died during the battle for the bridgehead, somewhere in September of the same year. But if you want a lone men who was fighting to the end, than i'll fast forward to 2016. 3. Prokhorenko, Alexander Alexandrovich, was in the deep rear of the terrorist forces of the “Igil” group, performing a reconnaissance operation. He transmitted to the Russian aviation and artillery the exact coordinates of the enemy positions, for a week of stay in the rear with his help more than 5 (may be exaggerated) warehouses with weapons of the enemy and more than 3 places with accumulation of the enemy were destroyed. However, on March 17, 2016, its location became known to terrorists and they launched an attack on its position. Alexander, surrounded by superior enemy forces, fought to the last bullet, and when the enemy came close to his position, he called artillery fire on himself, burying most of the enemy forces and himself under a hail of fire and the debris of the building where he held his last defense. For this act, in the same year, he was posthumously honored with the award “Hero of the Russian Federation” and, surprisingly, his body was even returned to his homeland. I hope at least one story from my comment could be useful for the video or, at least, interesting for someone to read. And no. it's not a russian propaganda - it's a stories i just remember in my head, if i, or someone else, dig the internet, i think we can find more of something like this. But that's all i know. Have a nice day and i will wait for another video like this. P.S. And sorry for grammar errors - as you could guess, english isn't my first language

In the Philippines, the most epic that we know that occurred was at the American Colonial Period. June 5, 1899, with the General in command, Antonio Luna, was assassinated in a brutal way. From a letter he received from the president, Emilio Aguinaldo, General Luna was ordered to visit the Cabanatuan, the President's home for an urgent meeting for plans against the Americans. Upon arrival, General was confused as the president was absent from the place and was told by his brother that the president had already departed from the place. As General Luna continues to retaliate, a rifle happened to be triggered out of the blue. Furious General came down to investigate that his troops unknowingly fired without permission. Scolding the first soldier he saw to interrogate, a hidden soldier snuck up behind General's back and slashed a wide diagonal wound from a machete (bolo) that made Luna changed his wrath to overwhelming mixture of emotions as he now realized the blood in his snake-coated soldiers coming to end his life. Luna was soon surrounded by troops having their rifles pointed at him consecutively firing all at once. He was outnumbered, all he could to is to stand his ground and endure all the bullets and slashes coming from his own allies. He screams through all the pain he have withstood to fight back but it was futile and got on his knees as the traitors came near and slashing him over and over and over again. Eyes swelling, his brown uniform drenched in his own blood but shows he would fight even he's at his wits end yet to be shot point-blank from the side of his head. He dropped, laid down to the ground, as blood spills across creating a puddle of his own blood. As the soldiers came near to ensure his death being permanent, his body twitches, causing the soldiers back away from shock. The captain of among the soldiers fires his one last bullet to his head. His death was honored by the generations who came across the tragic story as it didn't come from his enemies but one of their own...
