TFS…I have made this soap(hot process) twice…I did some research and found that it can be made with up to 70% laurel berry oil. I made 70% laurel 30% evoo…and 50/50…and added unrefined cocoa butter…luxurious 😌…I use it for myself…I am worth it 😂🤣

Aleppo soap usually is made with 20 to 40% laurel oil. The 20% is for regular usage, the 40% is used if you have a skin condition to treat.

I’m in Canada, so getting Laurel berry oil here would be quite expensive. It’s so nice to see you making it as I doubt many soap makers will get the opportunity. I can see why it’s so highly prized looking at the beautiful lather you got.

Aleppo soap is generally 20% laurel berry oil and the mixture is boiled for approximately 4 days !! There is a lot more to Aleppo soap than just laurel berry oil
@shahvirat1990
@shahvirat1990 Жыл бұрын
It is cooked for 4 days because of the size of their vats. They make batches of 5 tonnes (5,000 kilos) in one vat. For smaller homemade batches, you don't need that long of a cook time, the soap will just solidify if cooked that long and ruin the batch. Hope that helps :)

I bought original Aleppo soap made in Syria from my health food shop. I paid 7 euros. It is a lovely soap very moisturising. In the beginning the smell is quite strong. I would buy it again. If I were making it I would use organic cold pressed Olive and lauryl berry oil. And I would never put anything in a microwave as it kills all the nutrients in anything you put in it. The olive oil you used looked very pale in colour. The olive oil I know has a deep rich green colour. I think it is worth making it. And I believe you will make it again.

I’m suspicious of any ‘so-called’ Olive Oil that comes in plastic bottles. There’s so much adulteration of Olive oil - including EVOO - even in those large tins - cheap seed oils coloured with Chlorophyll 😮. I’m with you re the microwave use. It breaks my heart to see so many YTers take beautiful ingredients then BLAST them with radiation 😮 not to mention themselves. So many of them leak…

Ok SOAP QUEEN, print out recipe info please. I did actually say out load it looks like mud lol. Then, stop girl foolin with it girlie. Thank you for your knowledge, sweetness, love of soaping to impart to us especially newbies like me. I’ve never made a bar yet. But, I’ve watched a ton of vlogs yours the most and I’m a visual learner and at 70 now I want to be sure I gotta handle on this soaping thing. I’ve always loved very nice brand soaps like the Perfumer’s Soaps that go with their perfumes lol. Expensive for sure but wow it’s awesome. Your voice is so soothing and calming and gives us confidence. Thank you dear Karen. You are great!! Can I send me recipe or how to print it out lol. I’m not computer literate. My 7 year old grandson and 4 year old granddaughter are awesome with the iPads and iPhones I gave them as gifts and they can do everything on them. My granddaughter really wants me to make soaps and bombs. Considering what I spend on this stuff for them for inferior quality I’m so excited to get going. I want to learn the thick creamy soap type as Mr Bubbles Bath Foam is expensive now for sure. I have no clue why. Take care girlie

Karen, you are so talented! I love every video I've seen. It is almost impossible for me to find laurel oil in my country, I would have to bring it from USA or something. (I'm in Guatemala) Here, vendors sell only ounce by ounce and it is soooo expensive! I have only one ounce of laurel berry oil (pure) in my hands! I have the crazy idea, what would happen if I infuse olive oil and laurel berries and leaves together? The soap look gorgeous! with the alcohol in the stamp! Lovely!

9 months curing time the original recipe comes from Syria it goes back to the BC time with cleopatra using it in its history but it has many many benefits from stimulating hair growth baldness ,loss of hair due to cancer treatments and infections it revitalizes and strengthens roots of hair ,hair follicles eliminates dandruff gives volume to thin hair it has antiseptic ,antioxidant,anti fungal,astringent,antiflammatory, cures skin infections,acne,pimples,rosacea,eczema,fungi,diaper rash,insect bites,skin prone to dermatitis,also used for scabies,pediculosis also good for shaving. I did lots of research on laurel berry oil but the oil is expensive at about 27.00 for 16 oz.bars sell from 20-25$ all depends on % of oil used from 5% to 30% this is the first time I’ve seen it at 50% not everyone can handle it at high %.

Hi Karen, Thanks for your inspiring videos - I'm loving your soap making series! Could I ask, did you decide to warm the oils before you added he lye, or not? And if not, did you let the lye go right down to room temperature? I'm going to have a go at making this using your recipe, and just want to be sure that I'm going to be mixing the lye and oils at the correct temperature. Your finished soap looks so luxuriously smooth, its gorgeous!

Hi Diane, no I didn't warm the oils, I used them straight out of the bottle because they were already at room temperature. I let the lye cool down for about an hour before I mixed them so the lye was hotter than the oil it was about 98 degrees

@@EdensSecret1 Thanks so much Karen, that gives me the confidence to open that bottle of expensive oil when it arrives and make some soap! I will let you know how it turns out. Enjoy the rest of the long weekend x

Although I tend to agree. An assessment for selling this in the UK is not cheap at all thus that would add to her selling price. Just food for thought.

I see many Aleppo soaps are 20-40% Laurel berry oil, not 50% like in this recipe. I would guess that it makes the soap cheaper to make - might make it less strongly scented as well. I’d love to try making this just to get such a nice lather! ❤️

Commercial companies would use pomace oil because it's much cheaper.
