We need to realize we're not saving money buying things just because they're on sale. It's quite the contrary! If we don't need or have a purpose for the item, we're wasting money😊
@danniraearranged2 жыл бұрын
Im so glad you mentioned this! One of the things I wrote down in my notes to discuss in a future video is sale/bargains/deals etc. I had a conversation with my mom about this, I had used the Dollar Tree as an example, that when I used to shop there I would go waaay overboard because everything is inexpensive and theres a lot of cool stuff and I thought I was saving money but in fact wasnt saving at all. I couldnt agree with you more 1000%. Thank you so much for watching and being here with me xoxo

@@danniraearranged I avoid going to the dollar tree store at all costs because, as you said, they have a lot of cool and cheap stuff. It's almost impossible to resist not bringing something or a lot with me. Another thing that has helped me a lot in not wasting money is unsubscribing my email from mailing lists.
@leahrogers57692 жыл бұрын
As a deal hunter and couponer I have found that sometimes stocking up on things did help me save money. However, I recommend limits and avoiding random things, while having a clear plan. Here are a few examples of things that I felt saved me money and only took up temporary, limited space. After Christmas clearance I buy cheap gift boxes and wrapping and look for designs that can be used year around, while spending less than $1 is impossible at any other time and occasions for gifts are always occuring. End of year clearance is when I would buy my candles at Bath & Body Works because as much as I prefer them, to others brands I have tested, I still can not justify full price. When my children were young I would buy their clothes for the next year during end of season clearance and keep it in a tote in their closet (spending $1s instead of $10s). I do not recommend stocking up on "what-if" items or perishable items like food. Also, Skincare and makeup have short shelf life, as well. While keeping this in mind, and trying to be financially conscious, it's a balance of making good decisions and limiting the items you allow to take up valuable real estate in your home. We only have so much room in our homes. Being surrounded with clutter affects moods and mental health and stress levels. A peace of mind is priceless.
@theannamueller2 жыл бұрын
absolutely! as a sales adviser i get 25% off and when we had sales i used to buy cheap stuff in bulk, just because ... they were cheap and i might style them in a certain way or wear them to some occasion .... some day. now i have boxes upon boxes with unworn clothes. literally. and small sums here and there accumulate to hundreds and hundreds of bucks. if i had not spent all of that money i could have splurged for some really nice more expensive things i have been too cheap to buy. now i only buy an item if i need it and i do not bother if it is not on sale.

My sweet divorced neighbor in her early 60’s past away on a thur . That Monday ( trash day ) I saw a dumpster delivered and within 1 hour the son that lived a few miles away and friend filled it up completely. I told my mom that was proof that everything she was hanging on to for no reason would be trashed one day . The things of value would be mixed in and most likely trashed accidentally. I don't know why I just have never really gotten into shoes lol, although for whatever reason I sure did have a lot in the beginning of my journey to minimalism. Hello Judene, so sorry for the delayed response, we just got back from a trip, well it was a trip in MN LOL but im catching up on comments. YA it was a lot, alot of shoes and thats just the shoes upstairs, theres more downstairs LOL. Oh my gosh those Elvis Liquor bottles/Music Boxes are so dang cool, im so jealous they have them HA, but at least when I come over I can admire them lol. They definitely need to be in like a glass case/shelf, that would be so cool! Always so HAPPY to see you here with me, thank you for watching 🥰🥰

Danni love your videos they cheer me up no end . Love your mum she beautiful.I’m forever declutting ,Lego to my sisters and she declutters we sell everything and she goes out and buys more stuff . I stared doing this with my sister as we where going on a girls holiday to Spain and she had no money, since then we have a car boot sale a few times a year to go away . I told her if she didn’t spent the money on all the stuff she wouldn’t need to do this but she said she likes to shop . I just give up as long as she happy this is what’s going to happen year in year out xx

Oh my gosh Carlene we are so happy you're here with us, we appreciate you so much, this comment makes my heart so happy. You know I agree 💯 I think we can only do and help so much, but ultimately if it makes them happy, like you said, well then it makes them happy 🥰 I know my mom won't ever stop shopping esp. for others like all the gifts she has, but hopefully I can get her a boundary set up that may help minimize the amount of stuff? That's such a great idea to sell the items and use that money to take trips, luv that, creates the best memories. So happy you're here me luv, thanks for watching 🥰😘

Your mom did great with the shoes. Especially with you saying they're sooo cute when she doesn't want them. She ignored you being the bad influence. 🤣🤣

When I was editing the shoe decluttering part of the video, I was thinking ot myself "what are you doing Danielle, dont sit there and tell her its cute" or tell her "really, are you sure, are you sure you want to get rid of it?" I was shaking my head at myself the whole time. LOL I sometimes slip back into old habits 🤣Always so HAPPY to see you here with us, thank you for watching 🥰 xo

Your mom is making a great progress, her decluttering muscle is definitely growing! I would love to do the same with my mom, but she keeps finding excuses not to do it. I'll keep trying though!

Wow!! So I'm just 8 minutes into it and your mom totally cracks me up! 😂 She's so cute!!! You are finding clothing now that she bought for someone because it was on sale but forgets to give it to that person!! Lol. How many times have done that in the past? Why? Yes I'm using your catch phrase, why? But I agree with the above 1 comment on this video Fefe Rosa. I just had to go ahead and make a comment.

Oh my gosh I used to have so much extra gifts or prizes for parties, etc... on hand, I had a huge tub full and all of it sat, because I would always buy something new, or I too would see all the sales. I ended up donating pretty much all of it, I think i may have kept maybe 1 or 2 items? "WHY???" LMBO!... I know my mom probably wont stop buying stuff for future occasions but hopefully we can set a boundary. You know im ALWAYS so HAPPY to see you here with me dear. 🥰🥰😘
