Knowing his backstory is even crazier. I first saw him on his first P&T Fool us appearance. He was a concert pianist who had nerve damage in his hands so he couldn't play anymore and switched to slight of hand card tricks. Since then his technique has improved at an insane rate and he's arguably one of the best slight of hand artists in the world at this point. Oh and between his first/second P&T shows, he also got in a motorbike accident and had to go through heavy rehab to regain use of his hand again. This guy was struck by adversity at every corner and came out stronger each time.

Dani Daortiz is, IMO, the greatest card magician alive. The tricks he can do without even being the one handling the deck is absolutely stunning. Not taking away from Shin Lim, but I would put him 2nd behind Dani. I highly recommend you look him up if you are not familiar with him.

The editing made the disappearing block seemed impossible to me so it did make it look way better. Not saying I like or agree with the editing, and I’m a huge shin lim fan but when I didn’t know about the editing I was baffled by the ending, now that I know there was a cut when he ditched the block it’s no longer as amazing to me. I have mixed feelings about these reveals. As fascinating as they are, I can’t help but feel bad for the magicians who work so hard to perform these illusions. If I were them, I don’t think I would appreciate my secrets being revealed. I still think Shin is fabulous, and his movements are sensual and dance like. He’s mesmerizing, and I think that’s as important to the act as the tricks themselves.

If thats the type of magic I want to see, I'll flip on Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings. But in cases like this I think its a disservice to the performers act. Sure, you feel more amazed in the end. But it wasnt because of Lin's crafty deception. Its because the tv show just flat out lied about what actually happened.

I use to be a really good breakdancer. We did a lot of technical moves that were way beyond our time. However, just because you can do incredible move and "wow" people... it's not different than mastering a key note, but not be able to put it together to make an amazing song. Same goes to Shin Lim, there's so many more better magicians in technical moves - but Shin Lim is a star because he can put the key notes together to make a good show. That's the difference, same reason why I'm behind this screen and didn't continue my journey with Redbull back in the days.

I was fortunate to catch Shin Lim live when he was playing Macau (a year or 2 before AGT). His act is fantastic but unfortunately the stage setup was not. As my seat was looking upwards to the stage I could see whenver he palmed a card. Still an amazing act from an amazing performer!

Man.... he did a ton of tricks in one setting. For me to duplicate that, it would take me 20 years to master it, even if I know how it's done. I know how to do a few simple tricks and even those little tricks, need setting up and practicing (again) to do it right. Sometimes I'd be like, "You know what? Let someone else do this and I'll just kick back and enjoy it." Less stress that way. lol

I think the real beauty of this is that he took so many tricks he was probably already almost perfect with and weaved them together into a very impressive routine. Given a week or twos practice he could probably switch out half the tricks in this and rearrange them into what looks like a different routine and be able to perform it to the same standard :)

you know... I have been watching all your videos for about a year or so now. I am also a fan of the work you do. I think the video was around a minute or so and I thought I should comment saying that the other voice is much better. Then I red you comment asking about it. I prefer the older voice. It became a bit a signature voice I feel. maybe try to improve that voice somehow. New technologies can make you want to change, but I would stick to the other voice.
