Suggesstion to Mothership Vans: design a way to capture rain water or the use of river/lake water then all you need is water filters.

Done. Clearsource had its Nomad system and Blu has its ARX+Adventure series. I've also seen DIY systems that use a 12v water pump just like the one in the van. There are plenty of "prepper" sites that sell these systems.

​@@shaidenvalentine1 Hey Shaiden, I have an idea for the bench seats... You could do a slat system that's threaded together and secured on a track at the ends. This will cut down on weight but also make it super quick and easy to access under the seats because you can slide them all to one side or the other, to have full open access from the top without having to hold up or remove a lid (it works similar to a tambour door). And because they're threaded and on a track, it keeps them in place from popping out or getting misaligned and keeps the appropriate amount of spacing when you pull it across to lay the cushions on it. Also, with the slats all attached to each other (kind of like a rope ladder but laying down flat), it's easy to remove to have full access to the entire bench, to work on or replace equipment, and just as easy to put back in place because you don't have to place each board back and space them out individually.

It's called an atmospheric water generator. They're not even that expensive. I'm not sure why all boondocking capable vehicles aren't including them yet.

I absolutely love the previous floorplan with the shower in the back. I just bought a van to copy that design. The reason I love it is because with that floor plan you have views from your living room, bedroom, and bathroom. Not to mention the ability to open the back up in nature and let the smells and steam dissipate into the open air instead of inside your van acting as a better ventilation system when allowable. It also gives you the ability to walk through your van from front to back which I think is important when you are cutting down on headspace via the drop down bed. However, I think it just depends on the client and what they want. If someone needs to hold a lot of gear the extra garage space just makes sense. I like that you have the front layout perfected (the best layout in the industry if you ask me) and can cater the back end to your clients personal preferences and needs. In short, you're doing great, keep up the AMAZING WORK! The only suggestion is to make the bottom benches convert into a bed also like the design Nicole and Edden did. It's perfect for small families. You'd cater to families as well as individuals and couples. We have a family of four - that is why we are copying that design.

There’s no question this is amazing work but just to inform people that are starting out I use the same water heater even though I have a rixens system because I don’t want to turn it on just to wash me face in the morning. I love it. Under no circumstances will it stay hot for 3 days. 12 to 16 hours at best and it really won’t be shower temp for more than 2 minutes after that.

Lovely van if not for lack of a window in the kitchen and a way to create some privacy for the toilet use. Maybe a door or curtain that comes out from the closet area? we have a semi hidden bathroom in our van with a ventilated dry toilet and use it all the time for Nr1 and often for nr2 but we can enclose the area giving us visual privacy and completely containing odors. I can’t imagine such a luxurious van like this not having any kind of area where one can have a little privacy. A partition could also be helpful if someone wanted to change their clothes when the sliding door is open.

Hey so radical idea, I was thinking as a theme for future van builds is to have a futuristic look to it, black shiny or matte interior with blue and/or orange light strips running between the black panels in symmetrical patterns, very similar to the world of Tron from Tron: Legacy. Or from the Batcave at the end of DC Titans season 1. Also I personally prefer a 50/50 balance between a shower/ bathroom and a garage. One idea you might like as an inspiration from another van build, the stealth van build has an extendable/modular bathroom that you can use with a full shower and dry flush toilet (or any toilet per customer's request) The bathroom with that build is more so in front of the sliding door.

This van truly looks next level. Perhaps something to think about for the next one: some sort of privacy (and sound proofing?! *gasp*) for the toilet even when it's not taking up a dedicated space. I get that it's in a van and space is limited,. but imagine having friends in the van and needing to go. Some sort of privacy would be good.

Really like the floorplan although I'd prefer radius corners on all wood features(no sharp edges) Is/or could the electronic compartment cooling feature be reversable where it draws air from(summer months vs winter months). Plus, also might help when the heat is on seeing how it's located right across from each other. Do you keep weight balance in mind when building a van out?(side to side front to back) With that said are your vans GVWR legal for the roadways?

Wow! My 2 favs! You guys rock! The vans are so beautiful inside. That's where I'd be😂! I've been going through cancer for the last 8 years, so my husband literally turned his suburban truck into a mini camper with a full-sized bed in the back for me to lie down. We can sleep, cook & go potty in it lol but can't stand up. If I could change one thing, it would be to stand up. I'm VERY grateful for what he did for me & could never repay him. You guys & all these van building videos helped a very sick woman be able to get out every once in a while, so I'm very grateful & thankful. Is there any way to win one of these? I would put a momentary switch behind the Mac studio screen which would have to to be pressed by the mac studio screen being fully inserted into its cubby hole before the bed frame can be lowered so it doesn't rip the monitor out.

Wow this is almost perfect! I say almost because I feel the kitchen a little claustrophobic and the toilet/shower placement provides no privacy. But I really like the way the shower is hidden. I'm still thinking if it's possible to modify this awesome vanbuild placing the hidden shower so that it uses the access opening space and placing the toilet under the passenger seat (remove the sitting cushion to reveal the toilet and have a "tilting" backrest instead of a sweavel seat) so you can have the toilet available without blocking the kitchen area and using the driving area for privacy (with curtains of course). Is it too crazy? 😅

Personally I would never purchase a Sprinter van they require a specialized mechanic to fix them and finding qualified repair facilities and getting in in a timely fashion is nearly impossible when traveling so I would definitely go with a Promaster over a Transit but both are better choices over Sprinter. These four wheel or all wheel high roof vans are not much better off road than a front wheel Promaster as all are just as capable. I like the turning radius and the lower floor step in giving a lower center of gravity on the Promaster

I have a sprinter and a Nissan van. I realized that I always have a little underlying stress when driving the sprinter. A do not have the same stress when driving the Nissan.

I have a Sprinter and I love it. Been to a lot of places off-road which a front wheel drive would definitely have got stuck. Found a local non-dealer Mercedes shop that has been able to service my Sprinter at reasonable prices. It’s been pretty reliable so far so I don’t know what all this Sprinter hate is all about.

​@@Blztrls To be fair, your personal experience is completely subjective and irrelevant and doesn't negate the experience of others. You could very well be the exception to the rule, that just got lucky and happened to live by a shop that can work on sprinters, are reasonably priced, and aren't super busy or booked far out. That's not evidence of these issues not being a real problem, that just explains the reason why YOU personally, don't have that issue. Obviously, enough people are making the same complaints, over and over, enough for it to be a well known thing in the community. So there must be at least some truth to it. You gotta start thinking bigger than yourself my dude. Too many people have this mindset where they can't see past their own lived experiences, which inevitably prevents them from being objective, or even empathetic.

Mercedes would not be able to sell so many Sprinters if they were not cost effective against Promasters and Transits. These vans are business workhorses first and the business world is not forgiving of unreliable and non-cost effective vehicles. Furthermore, the anecdotal evidence of Sprinters breaking down are the personal experiences of other people and are also subjective and irrelevant if your reasoning holds true. Their experiences could very well be the exceptions to the rule. 🙄 In general people like to complain when they have a problem but rarely post about reliability so stories of problems tend to be exaggerated.

@@Blztrls I actually agree with most of everything that you said and that's also why I stated that there is SOME truth to it. Basically under the tenet of "typically where there's smoke, there's fire" but that still doesn't mean that it's the general experience overall for everyone, one way or the other. I absolutely agree that it's typical human nature to voice the negatives over the positives. However, when you have enough collective complaints about the same repeated issues, it starts to give weight to their credibility and that it's likely more common than just a few *one offs". Now, that being said, that doesn't necessarily mean that the product itself, is bad overall, or even that it's faulty in any way. There are numerous reasons that could cause these issues. Any mechanical or performance related issues, could easily be an issue of user error, any aftermarket modifications or alterations, or an isolated issue that the manufacturer does a recall on, once it's brought to their attention. As for finding a decent repair shop, a lot of factors goes into that as well. It depends on where you're geographically located and the supply and demand of that area, to have shops dedicated to be able to work on sprinters, especially at a reasonable price. And that supply and demand is what determines how busy those shops will be. Finding a shop also relies on the efforts and knowledge of the customer, to do their research and shop around. And if there are a lot of mods, or a full DIY build out, it definitely could hinder your ability to find a shop willing to take that on and could potentially raise the cost, especially if they have to put in more labor to take apart a lot of stuff, just to get to something to work on it, and then have to reassemble afterwards. Then you have to take into account, what people consider to be "expensive" or "untimely", are completely subjective from person to person. Everyone's definition of what they deem as reasonable, is going to look different. Not to mention, on both of these issues, people's expectations differ wildly. So many people have extremely unrealistic expectations when it comes to performance, customer service, pricing, wait times, ect.. whether it be because they're not knowledgeable on how things work realistically, or they're just an unreasonable person in general because they're self centered, entitled, or cheap. I think that a lot of people that buy these sprinters, really have no idea what they're getting into and just think of it like any other vehicle. The don't educate themselves prior to buying, or even after, not realizing that German built vehicles are typically different to work on and require special knowledge and tools. They also tend to forget that, although they are typically used as a workhorse or off-road campervan, they're still a foreign luxury brand and that can make it more expensive to maintain. Which brings me into the point that you made about why so many people are buying them, if they're not reliable or have certain issues. First of all, they are a long standing and reputable luxury brand. People equate luxury and brand name to mean quality. More importantly, you have to take into account that these vehicles have become extremely popular, due to them being "trendy" on social media and having all of that free advertising and people's desire to have what society seems as "cool" or the "best". That's not to say that they're not reliable or that they didn't earn their reputation, just that there are other factors at play as to why they are so popular and their reliability is only a small fraction of what motivates people's buying habits. Also, because of their rise in popularity and people converting them into off-road campervans, the brand has to adjust and adapt to the intended uses of their customer base. So, while it's true that they were originally workhorses, mostly intended for transport and delivery, they weren't being specifically designed for off-roading and campervan conversions. So it's definitely understandable why people could run into some issues with that, at least on older models because now they are catering more towards those capabilities. Anyways, my point wasn't to bash on sprinters in any way. The whole reason I even said anything was because you used your personal experience to discredit the claims being made and that seems to be a growing common problem in society today. But, that being said, once you elaborated a bit more, it's clear that you're capable of nuance and thinking objectively.

Not enough water in these things. There are water trucks that carry 40,000 gallons if water all across the country. The expedition RVs that way 24,000 tons only have like 100-200 gallons. Give people at least 400 gallons to take showers & do laundry for 2 weeks off grid. You have to go into town every 2-3 days wasting gas. These vans need to be bigger & carry more water.

Great build, but the bull bars up front kind of suck if you ever drive it on public roads, which I assume they do. It totally bypasses the crumple zone that's otherwise built-in to the vehicle to try to minimize pedestrian damage. You hit someone with this and it will shred them.

I could tell he was on the fence about the new sink. Yes, it gives more space but personally, I prefer a sink without a folding faucet. And I think a sink that is accessible to the outside is handy if you don't make a proper outdoor shower. But damn I love this build. Very well done!
