Chen Wei Ling competed at powerlifting and weightlifting simultaneously, she competed in 3 olympics and ended up with the gold medal for Beijing. Is she the only IPF and Olympic champion? Certainly while competing in both simultaneously. She did this 210kg squat for the equipped record, two months after Rio. With that absurd racking and reracking, I wonder how much she was really capable of. But aside from that, she also has the equipped deadlift record at 186kg from 2014, and the equipped total record, AND the squat, DL and total raw world records in 2015 as well. She out totalled the next competitor by 45kg in that competition. Imagine out totalling someone by 2kg under your bodyweight. While also competing in another sport on the world stage - 5th at worlds that year, could have been 2nd if she made her lifts. She retired a few years ago, but I did see her squatting 180 or so in weightlifting training towards the end.
@richardleewz3 жыл бұрын
I read that she was the only person to be Olympic Champion in weightlifting, World Champion in powerlifting, AND World Games champion in powerlifting. Also to speak of how she did the two sports simultaneously, she competed in Asian Champs for weightlifting in the same year that she did that crazy squat in the video. Truly an absolute legend!!

yeah the design is terrible. I have use something similar, it was quadpod squat stand and every time I unracked and moved back, my feet would hit the pods. It was annoying
@AfferbeckBeats3 жыл бұрын
They're the best individual stand design out there, I'm not sure what everyone's problem is with them. The legs are designed so you can walk out only a tiny amount and be able to drop the bar without catapulting the stands all over the gym. Look at Yoichii Itokazu's recent post on instagram, he does a rack jerk without even walking out past the legs and drops it like an inch in front of the uprights. And if you don't like the default position, you can just not use the hole for the pin and twist them wherever you like. Pretty much every other individual stand design out there is far more restrictive of the feet, and far more rickety. Toshiki roughly dumps 300+ in them on the daily and they're more stable than full squat racks.

If you do one on front squats, maybe include a couple front squats by strongmen and powerlifters. There was an Oceanic strongman who had the biggest ever front squat some 10 years ago, I think. Something in the 320s. Then Eric Lilliebridge's some time training partner (he was a great squatter but disappeared so quickly that I actually forgot his name) did 370 or so. But whatever you do, you *have to* include Jezza Uepa. He was born to squat as a SHW in a nation where weightlifting and powerlifting are national sports and did in excess of 400 kg in the front squat.

Do you have any info on height and squatting? I am 198.12 cm and 113 KG, so I accept that I might not lift as much as the shorter folks. Who are the tallest competitive weightlifters?
@disacane84593 жыл бұрын
basically every superheavyweight in weightlifting, strongman and powerlifting is atleast 180cm tall, and right now both the jr weightlifting champion (enzo kuworge) and senior champion (lasha talakhadze) are your same height, 197-198cm. So dont be discouraged, if you have the genetics to fill your frame and bulk up to id say at least 130-140kg, you are going to be a best. In the end height is an advantage as in every other sport, and the leverage thing is overblown imo when you have the chance to be much bigger and heavier (and ultimately stronger) than your shorter counterpart. But you have to bulk up, or you will sell yourself short of your potential
