As a man, the desperation is not being able to do all this. I am quite happy with supporting a wife and kids, as long as the wife is not a slut and the kids are in my custody. I love the idea of being able to provide for my family and have a loving, thriving family. I do not mind busting my ass for this. I would feel inadequate if I just sat and let someone else take care of things. I need to be capable and loved, both of these are necessities.

Its so easy to just cacoon at home when youre lonely-I know. Like Joe says, you have to have a plan to unstick yourself from loneliness and just hanging at home. Join a gym, a club, a church, volunteer somewhere. Befriend an elderly person-they are the most lonely ppl in the world. "You have to attack like you're saving the world". Dont worry about not having a bf/gf or wife/husband-they arent the answer to loneliness. ❤

Had you heard it when you were 30, you wouldn't have understood it as you do now. Do not be ashamed of your past. Right now, "you are exactly where you are suppose to be". In essence, all your passed decisions, enabled you to be here right now. Don't feel you have lived a life of "regrets". Some words of wisdom, was meant for us to hear when we became wise enough to understand them. I am 3 years your junior. I heard the words I just told you over 8 years ago. It took me another year to understand what it meant. What he says, may resonate to you, because you may feel yiu haven't accomplished some of the things that the world has accomplished. You've accomplished the most important thing in life, and that's another day of life. I see it this way for me......"I am not living to die, but dieing to live". Make the most of everyday. Smile, laugh love and respect life. "Life isn't the amount of breaths we take, but the breath taking moments"!

Sucks I don't have nothing, but I'm working on it, first time paying for a apartment, all you said I've done that a dozen times. I never could get it right, my biggest problem was that fast money. Now there is no money in doing bad, I picked up a hard hat and lunch box, and now I'm on the grind I'm hanging on with a prayer GOD BLESS ALL OF US

@24js17 I'm a food server. Life doesn't work that way. The design is work hard until you get the opportunity to do better. Then hope it's a big enough window to grow because you better maximize opportunity before someone changes their mind. Plus, you will be tested 3 to 5 times hard not to go backward. After you complete this task in most cases, you are ambitious. But you will only wake up. After you hit the ceiling of your profession. Hopefully, you didn't age out by the time this happened to enjoy life.

@@kimmiewise1044 Women are never considered empowered, ambitious or determined for taking their husbands money. So tired of these BS strawmen you guys make. This is why your relationships are so garbage, you lack basic empathy for other human beings experiences. Too busy being self absorbed lowlifes. Most women work and earn their own money, or are in the now very normalized dynamic of being the breadwinner and doing all the housework for their useless sack of shit husbands. Men barely suffer in the modern world. ALL their hardships are things women also face, plus women face unique hardships that men dont. None of what this clip said is exclusive to men.

I have to beg him to grab life and live it. Go fishing! Go be you! But non of that has been allowed for him to have in his life. He always wanted to fly a plane. Even thought of going into the military growing up. Got him an introductory flying lesson. His parents lost it, like I was trying to kill him. And then he never did it. It’s self-induced desperation.

We also have quite the passionate marriage, are best friends and truly really like each other deeply. 11+ years and it gets better every year as we work towards goals together in harmony and love. @@ben10pa Lol. Sounds like the only point of view here, is the one you are projecting. Maybe you're bitter, maybe you just don't have the experience and think the internet+ your own experience means universal/independent truth. Happy people and couples are out there. We are just too busy living our lives in harmony. The bad stories you see on the internet are there, because unhappy people complain and feel the need to get support. Happy people already do. And most often, when you start to ask questions, and get to the bottom of it, it did not happen because " he got sick of her and traded her in". The majority of the time, there are multiple "aha" explanations, why the relationship was not good, or ended thay way. Sure, there are assholes out there, but when you tend to pick them, there are signs. It is never a " he/she was perfect, and then they were not". Normal, functioning people don't do that, they attract other well functioning people, because they reject the notion of any form of dysfunction. We just don't talk about it. We don't need to. We function well, have functioning friends, familly, healthy bonds and relationships and kids. I know, the internet makes it seem as if that's special. It is not. We are simply not on the internet.

The Japanese idea is if you do something you enjoy doing, are good at it and can make money doing it, there is no reason for you to stop working. Keep going. I tried retirement several times. I now know why people fail and die after they retire. It drove me nuts. So I went back to work. Now I'm happy. That's better than going crazy at home. I've taken reasonably good care of myself and don't have any physical need to stop working. If that changes, I'll stop working. This brought a few tears to my eyes because when Joe said “you just can’t wait to run away” he hit the nail on the head with that phrase, because it perfectly well describes how I feel, and god knows how many other people out there do too! His advice seems to have struck a chord of inspiration deep within my soul to finally sort my shit out! I knew today was different when it started with my 21 year old son and I talking about my depression, and then I watched him put his boot on the wrong foot, which made me laugh like I haven’t laughed in a very long time. Shortly after, I come across this short clip of Joe on about his favourite quote and giving advice that brought tears to my eyes but has flicked a switch on within me. Thank you Mr Rogan and thank you, Finley, my son. 😊

I hope you cherish every moment that is given to you with your son and find more reasons to laugh even harder. Depression is not easy at all, I don't know what exactly are you going through, but I do want to send words of encouragement to stay strong and to keep reminding your self that every rule has an exception. Not all men wait to run away, some actually find ways to take all the life in. And I am sharing this as a sister of a person who took his own life last year at age 38, leaving behind my two beautiful nephews who are making me stronger and willing to overcome everything coming my way. I also work as a psychologist with disabled people and on daily basis I meet families who struggle to survive, because part of my job is to find ways for them to organize charities for food, cloths and place to live. Sometimes that gives me a perspective on things, but mostly the hardships I face constantly in my life bring heavy burden on my shoulders. So please remind your self of what you thought today, write a note with the quote you like to remind you everyday, sometimes those kind of things work with baby steps. And keep on going tomorrow and the next day. To you Darren and to Finley your son, I wish all the good things coming your way.

Gentlemen, if you are living a quiet and desperate life and have children, do not abandon them. You don't get yourself out of any situation by running away. Real men take care of their families. Husband's and wives may come and go but children are forever.
@chenanigans
@chenanigans Жыл бұрын
Yeah it's wild that he just basically promoted men abandoning their families and children (and everybody is cosigning this) and then in the same breath men constantly complain about having a fatherless society and all the issues that have manifested from that. How about men just take accountability for your actions and man up. You think women don't get tired of and burdened down by being mothers and wives as well? But that's what you all chose to do and be. Or live the single life and have a different set of stress and depression either way your life is never going to be perfect but it's all about how you choose to see it. You aren't a victim. But your kids will be when you abandon them for your own selfish desires.

@@chenanigans He's not talking about leaving your family behind and literally escaping to another place. He's talking about escaping the dread of barely getting by and spending all your time and money on just surviving. @@seaofroses8888 Yes they will. My job is to give them the tools they need to overcome it. That's a large part of what's wrong with society today, people expect to live pain free. They assume that someone else should take care of their problems for them. But all we have to do is look at the most privileged among us and see that regardless of their status, their wealth, their beauty, that they still have pain in their lives. Divorce, abuse, addiction runs rampant among even the elite. So yes, life is pain, but if you have the right mindset, the perseverance, and can find contentment in things that truly matter, the pain is not only bearable, but a necessary contrast to truly appreciate the beautiful moments and opportunities life has to offer. And that sums up kids in a nutshell, the greatest joy that also comes with some of the greatest pain. I've never felt so connected as I do with my kids, but I'm always scared for them and there are times where they break my heart just because I see them growing and know that they'll be going on their own far too soon. My Dad called parenthood "A moment of pure joy, followed by a lifetime of fear, but the best thing to ever happen to him". I thought he was nuts. I guess I am too.
