I have similar story, I don't like wearing makeup and heels and I went to an interview without makeup and heels and the interviewer asked me why I am not on make-up and heels. Anyways, everyone has their priorities, the way you feel about relaxers is the way I feel about make-up, you don't want to put chemicals on your hair but you have no problems putting chemicals on your face. I don't want to put chemicals on my face and that's one of the reasons I don't like wearing make-up.

Good for you but can you tell me how wearing makeup you can wash off in minutes is the same as putting chemicals in your hair which cannot be undone unless you cut it off?

@@christianayusuf1954 You mean putting makeup which contains chemicals on your skin that enters into the pores of your skin. I'm not even saying that make-up is bad, but if people with relaxed hair are not proud of their natural hair, then people who can't go public without makeup are also not proud of their natural face. I've never seen this woman without a full face of heavy make-up. I go out without makeup and I post my natural face on my social media because I am confident in my natural face.

I've seen clips of her with no makeup - this makeup she has on currently is called heavy makeup? Lol how're are you so proud of your natural face but have no problem with wearing European standards wigs,filters and all?

It's really nice to hear a woman icon talk about this. I find it difficult to rationalise how the African women can ignore the obvious indignity in wearing the hair of other races just to look beautiful. It makes the African woman appear to be shallow in thinking.

I can't count the amount of time I get told to do something about my hair, each time I wear my natural hair, some go as far as suggesting I wear wigs, lol. I give them a lot of f*ck you, but then it gets tiring. I'm really waiting for the time when black women, especially Nigerian women will be confident in wearing their natural hair. For now I will continue to wear mine and keep giving them the middle finger.

i'm a nigerian woman too so maybe you'll hear me when I say this... this woman is so divisive and the narrative she keeps pushing is dangerous. wearing my hair natural has never been "political", the US is not "deeply racist" , and in 2024 show me a woman who lost a job because she kept her hair natural. where do you get these things from??? as long as it's not untidy, nobody actually nobody cares if there's a chemical in your hair or not. the even more dangerous problem is that her (and her liberal club) leave our young black girls thinking if they didn't get the job, it must be because someone doesn't like their hair or someone is racist (whereas they may have just been unqualified and need that feedback as a propeller to more hard work).

1:40 -1:45, "Dreads", Her calling it dreads is proving her point, they (you know who's " they") called it dreads because black hair was considered scary & def not attractive...so in case you were wondering the more correct word will be "LOCS", just locs not dreadlocks dread etc

You know, if one says Africa is deeply poor on TV, it's true but harsh right? Some journalist once asked her if there are bookshops in Nigeria and she clearly didn't like it from her response... that someone had that kind of stereotype about her country. But truth be told, there are areas in Nigeria without bookshops, and/or where buying of books is not popular. Truth, but Harsh if that journalist had said it.

Instead of getting offended by harsh truths, why not face those so called harsh truths and actually do something about them? So America is deeply racist? Start a conversation on how to create a culture of inclusivity, one that sees everyone as human. So Africa is deeply poor? Let's contend for change of policies and vices that keep Africa poor. Yes, I agree. She is educated but crazy in some areas. I respect her knowledge and education even though she has no wisdom. Just like Wole Soyinka, she talks to the elites about what they want to hear so she can get some national and international awards.
