You missed the ball on BO3's supply drops. The controversy wasnt that the game HAD supply drops, the controversy was they PROMISED US ALL that they wouldnt add anything other than cosmetics to them. The added melee weapons and argued that they were just skins and promised us A SECOND TIME!- that they would not add none cosmetic items to Supply Drops. Only to add EVERY SINGLE NEW WEAPON to supply drops!!

Yep like the M14 was strictly lootbox, I grinded those damn things hard due to it being a FOMO stunt, I had like 6 rather specific guns that should not have been there especially since they had rather specific traits that were rather P2W ie the R70 AjaxLMG never needed a reload just a slow process to fully print ammo which could actually be ridiculously OP in actual play since you didn't need to chase reloads just switch weapons and it'd be full in about 10-15 seconds.

I got it during the first, but yeah the FOMO they pulled on folks that really wanted specific guns was real and the M14's always had a weird group of us that really enjoy it whenever we get the chance to get it. I don't recall if I bought any but I definitely grinded all my freebie black market drops which if you've played as long as I have you know how often that crap breaks to this day (still hearing beef about that though I dropped out after MW19).

One thing worth mentioning about Black Ops 4 is that during the marketing, they had initially said that weapons would not be behind supply drops and instead would work on a battle pass system dubbed “the Black Ops Pass”. However, after a season ended, there was no way for new comers to obtain the weapons from previous seasons except for a supply drop system. They added in the ability to save up supply boxes to exchange them for weapons eventually, but it was only when the next CoD title was released, and a majority of the fan base moved on.
