@Iloveflowers2024
@Iloveflowers2024 3 жыл бұрын
I don't understand why they would do that though. What is it to them what customers do with the item once they've bought it? If the store hike their prices up too high then they won't sell it. So really it behooves them just to keep their prices low and reasonable just like normal. They're still making money. All their stuff is donated, it's all given to them for free. Some places are getting greedy and hike their prices way too high like Goodwill is getting ridiculous with some of their prices. The prices vary too because it depends upon the staff member who is pricing items that day. I know some items have set prices like the clothing racks. Just wanted to add I persomally do not buy items to resell.
@kinsmade--wherecraftsarefa7830
@kinsmade--wherecraftsarefa7830 3 жыл бұрын
Non-profits are pricing their merchandise high to be good stewards of donations. Resellers are adding value by searching, cleaning, repairing, up-cycling, warehousing, curating, promoting, and shipping items they purchased. I actually had a 2nd hand store manager blame resellers like me for her price increases. I asked her, "so, it is ok for you to charge $10 for something you got for free, but it is wrong for me to charge $20 on something I bought for $10?" I know this is a sensitive topic, but it really comes down to knowing and respecting what each side is working to accomplish. And resellers are a lot more transparent about their markups and margins than the industry in general, and frankly there is a lot less price gouging by resellers than there is in mainstream clothing outlets.
@michellebyrom6551
@michellebyrom6551 3 жыл бұрын
@@kinsmade--wherecraftsarefa7830 I agree with you. Some donors don't bother washing clothing before donating and that usually ends up going to recycling. Shops don't have the resources for washing/simple repairs. Steamers kill a lot of bacteria and remove wrinkles but thats it. Here in GB very little gets through the vetting process since ecommerce began. Every chain screens out items of particular value and puts them directly online. Upcycling of clothing seems to be the way to go. Or spending more on vintage pre 80s fashion that can be given attention and sold on. Saving other people the time it takes to search items of good quality is worth a lot, especially those working when these shops are open.

Seriously there is enuf crap to go around for everyone in US. US has become disposable country. Why would it matter if anyone says what they do to earn a living? You never know if someone needs a job and if video or conversation sparks another to do same, why not help each other? This idea to keep a secret so one can have more or keep price low has selfish tendencies. Do the hunting, work and give to another will work out in ur favor in the end. Njoy the hunt, blessings 🙌🙏

BTW, I use to work in this enormous antique store for 6 years and I loved it. The antique dealers told me that the thrift shops caught on and they hired antique dealers to appraise antiques before they went on the sale's floor. Therefore, antiques are selling for maximum prices in places like Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc. The dealers were pissed off becuase it made it rough for them to get things for resale. Also, recently I have heard places like Savers are angry that people are buying items from their stores and reselling them on eBay. So what? once someone buys an item or items, that is their business what they do with the items once they buy them from the thrift stores, good grief!! As much as I hate to say it when all else fails just type it in google and watch what you find, almost always there is listings currently listed on ebay and solds on Worthpoint but yet the search on their platforms don't come up. Little fishy if you ask me but what can you do. Keep killing it Matt love the content.

So far I've made 5 sales, 2 of which were this weekend. I'm still out $40, but I'm getting close to breaking even and have learned some stuff to try and flip and what NOT to try and flip. UPDATE: I've now sold 30+ items, if you have any doubts, just know you can do this

@@Ephesians5-14 I would say it depends. Depends on the labor you put in and how much items you sell and the money you make with those items. A lot of people sell bigger items like radios and printers for a lot and they make a lot per “hour”.

Thank you for some excellent advice on shopping at thrift stores for resale. That poncho you found is beautiful. I am sorry to hear that so many of your Goodwill stores had to close. I live in Lynnwood, WA just North of Seattle & so far we have only had 1 Value Village store that has closed by me. Luckily they have another one fairly close. We actually have a bin store that has opened less than a mile from me but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. Blessings to you and your family and please stay safe. Beth

We also have SVDP blue bags where anything that fits is 1/2 off, that is on Tuesdays and Thursdays!! That way if you bought those boots on a 1/2 off day you could save $$ Just thought that I would ask...we enjoy the videos & your beautiful family!1

eBay - go a search like you normally do to shop - once you have the results click the "sold" box on the left and it will show you the sold items in the past 90 days - the higher the number compared to the number listed for sale now the faster the sell through i.e. say Levis 32x32 black jeans have 30 listings for sale - when you click on sold is may show 10 which translates as 10 sales in the last 3 mos compared to 30 available for sale = may take a while for you to sell - conversely if there were 50 sales then you have a good probability your pair will sell in less than 90 days
