Clarification: I’m not saying you shouldn’t go to school. Everyone should. I learned important social skills at school and made great friends. It’s more that when you finish school, you’re by yourself. You have to make the extra step and take initiative.

that's what I realized after graduating as well. People who are good in school are basically good at doing what they are told to do.

You have no idea how much I needed this. I'm 27 and I feel so stuck. I've got an ok job, but I realised want to stop trading my time for money, and I want to be more creative. Thank you so much, I love your work Oliur, keep it up!

Woah. I had the same journey. same school experience, took a photoshop course at 15, got into customizing my android, and started a little media business when I was young. Now I'm learning UX and Web design at 21 to be just like you Oliur. Love design, this content, and you. Thank you for being so inspiring.

This was powerful. So many people get caught up in going to a brick and mortar school. A physical building. What they fail to realize is that creating a better you can be done in so many different ways. It is all about taking that next step to better yourself. Regardless of it being in a "classroom", or spending your weekend in front of KZbin watching hours of tutorials from a trusted source. It is still education and you are still taking steps to become a better you. Awesome Video. I love your channel. Keep up the awesome work. You are inspiring people around the world.

Think kids need to realize « school » is the foundation. Then you do things to supplement the foundation that’s how you grow. Oliur here learned the basics like critical thinking and ability to learn etc from school (that’s the point). There’s absolutely nothing wrong abt having a regular job and then finding your passion on the side. I’ve lived similar to oliur, except I stayed within one job and went up the ranks really fast cause that’s my passion and I took my extra step to achieve that.

Great video. I think the worst part about earning a living on something you're passionate about is people saying you 'got lucky' No, I put the time and effort into something that I enjoyed, did it for free for a while, squeezed it in where I could, and slowly worked on it until it became my job - we can all do that, you just don't want to.

This right here! "Luck" as people call it is just the result from hard work, taking those extra steps and saying yes to opportunities. As the saying goes "you make your own luck"

I relate to this so much! Always hated school the typical structure of go to school and get a job with good grades. I knew it wasn't for me and I needed to do something different. Wish I followed by gut earlier on in my life to follow my passion of videography but know that I am doing that it feels like a weight has been lifted. Next job is to go full time with it! Great video! :)

I think school is really about making future connections and setting yourself up for a future job/ career opportunity! That's basically the advice I give to most younger people. Looking back, it's something I didn't do a very good job at while I was in school!

Oliur, I love your stuff. Very inspiring. ...BUT I don't know if "extra steps" is how I'd summarise the difference between you and the smart kids who just ended up in jobs. No matter how many extra steps a person takes in an accounting or other conventional career path, the best outcome would be 'Finance Director' at a big organisation. I think the real difference was a level of risk and entrepreneurship. Just my thoughts. Keep up the great work.
@JonasBecker2 жыл бұрын
I think this is included in one of the extra steps. Stops trading money for time, looking at what you can do for yourself instead for your boss. All of which of course defines entrepreneurship, but only those who stick around and take the steps come out as winners

This is really good advice, would you recommend everyone do something creative on the side on top of their day job?. I feel like the creator economy is only going to get bigger and bigger in future.
@JonasBecker2 жыл бұрын
I think everyone should pursue their passions, no matter if those are "creative" or not. Playing music? Why not upload your covers. Love fishing? Why not tell the world about your story and what you've learned in a blog, etc. While the creator economy might get bigger for now, as we still have higher demand than supply, there will always be niches people are searching for.
