There are many skills & techniques that we could & maybe should learn. But what if you could only chose one ahead of everything else. What would it be?
In todays video we discuss the versatile skill of the Grass Cutter pass. The technique required to create such a pass requires balance, timing, accuracy and finesse. But once you unlock this skill, it becomes the building blocks for many other techniques that you might not have mastered just yet.
I hope you enjoy!!
Cheers Folks,
Tony

In my own independent training, I realized the grass cutter was the best technique to get consistent at to improve my game the most. I'm glad to see that you agree and that my intuition was correct. I spent days training specifically only this technique. The technique really REALLY makes you hone down your timing, accuracy, body position, body flow, follow through, etc. If you can hit a grass cutter on a bouncing, moving ball accurately and precisely, you can basically learn any other technique with ease.

I'm still learning this game, so any help would be appreciated. I'm a huge rugby fan but my daughter plays soccer. I thought juggling and first touch was important, my daughter's coach says to concentrate on them skills. She is u9s
@dysfunctionalism27
@dysfunctionalism27 7 ай бұрын
@@truthseeker7322 for beginners its best to learn how to be comfortable and confident with the ball. Thats best done through dribbling, juggling, and practice recieving for first touch. As far as this technique goes, it would go well with you using it to kick the ball at a wall, practice recieving the ball for your first touch, and then kicking the ball at the wall again. As a beginner you really just want to have the ball at your feet as often as possible to gain the skill, confidence, and composure.

Thanks for the movement breakdown. I've been pivoting to this for volume passing moving back and inside to CM/CDM. It (along with effective scanning) made me a better player already especially as I get older, like really old. Yet I never had a real inkling as to the movement instead I tried channelling the greats but that only takes you so far. Thank you!

Love the videos, ill defo be practicing this one. Could you do one around la croqueta and how to use it? Theres so many videos teachong how to do it but with a cone or a static fake partner. I can do the motions but struggle to get the timing down in a real match situation. Maybe following on from that, 1 or 2 real world skills to beat a man 1v1, too many flashy and unreal moves being shown around online. Keep it up 👍

This is very good. I wish I would have learned this technique earlier in my career. I can do it now quite well and it is an amazing tool to help the ball cover meaningful distances quickly while still being easy to control by the recipient. Junior players who "get it" early can easily distinguish themselves from peers of similar levels by adding this technique to their repertoire of tools.

To me, the most important skills are: 1) Ball close to the feet and stay low at all times. Learn to carry your weight. 2) Body feints. 3) First touch finesse. 4) Multitask and think fast. Use dead time to scan your surroundings and think of your next move, such as when the ball is traveling towards you. 5) Attack empty space and abuse blind spots.

As a former goalkeeper turned into defensive midfielder, this technique is one of the few things I AM doing quite consistently because I took my goalkicks this way. Most other possession-based techniques are mediocre at best, but when I get the time our forwards are starting their runs because this is something I CAN do 😂

i think the answer to your question can vary depending on age and the level you are playing at my personal list would be age 13 or younger- dribbling/ball control because its one of the easiest and most flashy talents to showcase to get scouted and if you have that the coach is more likely to see you as workable if you dont have your other skills up to par age 13-18/pro level-passing/touch at this stage assuming you already have dribbling or you have another skill that got you scouted this is the stage where having a bad touch or horrible passing is unacceptable and in my opinion should be your top priority at this stage 18+/pro level- IQ and finishing/IQ and your specialty assuming up to this point you have had an ideal career and growth finishing would be the last thing you need to get down in order to complete yourself as a competent footballer the second part dubbed ''your specialty'' is for people who didnt follow this but is at the pro level its basically whatever skill you want to focus on the thing that makes you ''special'' eg:a defender instead of finishing could focus on 1v1 defense (this is not perfect as it is more suited to a striker but i do believe the first two are mandatory also when i say ''scouted'' it could be your local team school team or any team you have contact with and the coach decides to put you on the team protip for the last scenario of the ''anyteam contact'' make sure you have a good attitude and you need to insert yourself into training somehow whether thats by asking the coach which i dont really recommend or my preferred method of watching for a few days and interacting with the coach and team and join them in a few drills until you are able to integrate yourself into training and the coach hopefully sees potential in you a decides to put you on the team)
