I’ve replied to someone else abt this before, but here you go. Thank god for copy and paste. I think the reason behind her constantly being on the list is due to the combination between the increase of newcomers who watch the anime and the anticipation of her return from manga readers. That’s why her counter is always jumping around in the first half of the video and then got more stable during the second half. During the first half, people who began to watch the anime for the first time boosted her popularity up until they got to the point where she was crystallized, and then her counter resurged again due to a new wave of fans. And the cycle continued like that until about halfway through the video. At that point, the manga got really intense and dropped hints of her here and there, leaving the anticipation of her return from the manga readers through the roof. Topple that with the still ongoing surge of new fans who started the series, and that pretty much explains why Annie is on this list even with her absence. That’s a whole power move, if you ask me.

We wouldn't even have Jean join the survey corps if it wasn't for Marco. Marco is up there because he is always a factor that comes into place. When it's either him being a huge problem for reiner and bertoldt and also slightly causing refiners split personality or to armin noticing that Annie had marcos gear. There is more to marco than just a disposable character even if that's what isayama intended. Yes I also agree that ymir deserves the spotlight(perhaps even more than Marco) but marcos mystery, personality and his actions just put him up there. Annie (along with Jean) is one of my top favorite characters atm and... tbh I don't know exactly why. I'm probably biased because the female titan arc is one of my favorites in the show and I really loved the Lost Girls OVA episodes based on Annie. I like Annie, Bertholdt, and Reiner's internal conflict over where their loyalties lie and how each of them deal with it in different ways. Plus, so far, none of the main trio (Armin, Mikasa, Eren) have been very interesting or relatable to me. Maybe the last season will change my mind.

Erwin doesn't need Ackerman powers or plot armor. He just needs balls of steel, and he already has those. The guy literally got his arm bitten by a titan, and didn't even request help. He demanded his comrades to advance. What a champ. In S3P2, he predicted Zeke's plan and then came up with a counter-strategy, all while having the constant pressure and responsibility of 100 recruits under his command. He died after getting crushed by a boulder. You know what would happen if a boulder came towards Levi? oh yeah, i forgot he's literally inhuman and would probably cut through the boulder with his blades somehow. wtf. and erwin didn't even flinch. he didn't care about getting away from the boulder. madlad didn't even flinch. he spoke his last words, encouraged the recruits with his influencing words, and died with the same amount of anger and determination as he started with. now tell me why eren was ahead of him during the entire video. imo erwin deserves wayyyy more recognition than he gets. erwin squad where u at?

Konan x Hidan she has developed but not very much. In the battle of shiganshina she was able to let Eren and Armin fight Berthold themselves, while focusing on Reiner with Jean and the others. Old Mikasa would have just abandoned and be like "Fuck it, I have to save Eren" which was not the case. She was also a lot more attached to Eren before... However, seeing where the Manga is going right now, I am pretty sure she will get some proper development finally.

I really can understand why fans love them, but I still think that they are both to overrated. Also Annie is the ONLY female character where it makes sense that she became so strong. Mikasa on the other side was way to powerful, I understand that she is an Ackerman but she never trained as a child while Levi is almost 20 years older than her and trained since he was little. As an example the moment where Mikasa threw Reiner in the air was ridiculous.
