Anyone, including Catholics, that know Jesus as their personal Savior and are born again will go to heaven. Religion does not determine a persons salvation. A personal relationship with Jesus is the way to heaven no matter what religion they are. It’s about relationship, not religion.

So, here's the question: Do you believe that the faith of a person in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ on their behalf, is NULLIFIED if they mistakenly think more is required? That would be like someone buying a cruise ticket that unbeknown to them, includes all meals, lodging and activities. And they try to pay for their meal or pay to participate in the activity. Trying to pay for something that has already been paid for does not get them thrown off the ship. Your message is every bit as works oriented as the Catholic church. Unless one in your gospel scenario, correctly believes all the right things and responds correctly to those truths, they are not actually saved. You blaspheme the name and character of Father, Son and Spirit by suggesting that the blood of Christ, the death of Christ and the resurrection of Christ was not enough to redeem, justify, reconcile and regenerate all that Christ atoned for. So, is that what you are suggesting, that the faith of the Catholic in Christ is nullified and rejected because they believe more is necessary?

We do not ever blaspheme that Jesus died for us. We know that Jesus died for us. You blaspheme the death of Jesus if you justify your sins and think just because he died on that cross for you that you will automatically go to heaven. We atone for sin by going to purgetory by following the example that Jesus set for us. It is a form of purification because nothing impure is allowed into heaven. It is also a way of showing humility to our Lord It is a way of showing that we acknowledge that he died on that cross for us. It is a way or a sign of showing him that we died with him on that cross in that we share in his suffering by suffering with him. We United our sorrows with him. By doing these things we are filled with faith because we declare that we fall short of his glory he then fills us with his glory amen

This is not the suffering for sin, but the suffering for righteousness. For this finds favor, if for the sake of conscience toward God a person bears up under sorrows when suffering unjustly. For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God. For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth; and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. - 1 Peter 2:19-24 The Lord said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, even through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the abominations which are being committed in its midst.” - Ezekiel 9:4

And they try to pay for their meal or pay to participate in an activity. If they try to pay for something that's already been paid for, they don't get kicked off the ship; The problem is not in what you described, but in the fact that a person has to decide that he himself will act in such a way that he can easily enjoy himself on the ship. Two examples of the actions of a man who bought a cruise ticket will not enjoy it because of his actions, even though he has faith (cruise ticket): the first example: that he will actually go on the ship for which he bought a ticket - that is, that he will not wait at home with the purchased ticket for the ship to pick him up, because he believes that the ship is going on a cruise. the second example: that if he enters the ship, he will behave in accordance with the rules and instructions of the captain. If he breaks into the rooms of other passengers on the ship or disobeys the captain's instructions, his card will not help him at all. It will be unloaded at the first port. I hope you understand. Romans 3:28 is a key verse in the differences between traditional Protestants and Catholics. You will notice that Paul says a man is justified by faith (pistei in Greek). When Martin Luther translated the letter to the Romans into German in the sixteenth century, he added the word alone -but alone is not in the original Greek text. The phrase “faith alone” does occur in the New Testament: one time, in James 2:24. There the inspired apostle denies that justification is from faith alone. Let me quote it: “You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.”

In sum, the Church teaches that salvation is a process of becoming holier and holier through time. All of this is a work of grace that God performs in our hearts through faith. Works done in faith are the natural completion of believing in Christ. The phrase “faith alone” does occur in the New Testament: one time, in James 2:24. There the inspired apostle denies that justification is from faith alone. Let me quote it: “You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.” Paul categorically excludes works from our salvation. But what kind of works is Paul talking about? If we believe the entire Bible, we need to see how Paul’s words fit together with James’s words, because James clearly says that “a man is justified by works.” If Paul and James mean the same thing by works, then they contradict one another. Since you and I both believe that the Bible cannot contradict itself, we must agree that Paul and James mean two different things by the word works. The Catholic Church believes that we should interpret Scripture by using Scripture. You will note that sometimes Paul expands his phrase from worksby adding the phrase of the law, as in Romans 3:20 and 28 and Galatians 2:16. Further, sometimes Paul substitutes the phrase through the law to describe the same reality. For example, in Romans 3:20, he says, “Through the law comes knowledge of sin.” In other words, when Paul uses the word works he is talking about the Old Testament law. A careful reading of Galatians will show that Paul is using works of the law to refer especially to the law of circumcision. He is so strong about this that he says in Galatians 5:2, “Now I, Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you.” Paul’s opponents in Galatia wanted to bring the Gentile Christians back into the Old Testament law. These are the works of the law that Paul is fighting against, and they have no place in our justification. Paul is saying in essence that Gentile Christians do not have to be circumcised and live like Jewish Christians in order to be saved.
@paulie888 Жыл бұрын
@@iThinkBiblically But Paul speaks about Christians fulfilling the law by following the command to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Gal. 5:14). He then explains that we must show the “fruit of the Spirit” (Gal 5:16-26) and bear one another’s burdens (Gal. 6:1ff) as a way of fulfilling the “law of Christ” (Gal. 6:2). All Paul’s teaching comes down to this: Our own works can never justify us, but works that grow out of faith in Christ are part of our justification. That’s why Paul says in Philippians 2:12 you must “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” And that squares with James’s teaching that works that grow from faith justify. We Catholics insist that James 2:14-26 shows that works are more than mere evidence of faith. Works actually justify. James is speaking about works growing out of faith. If works of faith are not a part of our justification, then it is hard to understand why James would say, as he does, that “Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar?” (Jas. 2:21). You may remember how Paul said that Abraham was not justified by works but by faith. Paul means that Abraham was not justified by keeping the Old Testament law, while James means that Abraham was justified by doing a work that grew out of his faith in God. James is teaching that works show true faith. But we Catholics insist that James 2:14-26 shows that works are more than mere evidence of faith. You could argue that if James did not say explicitly, “You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by works” (Jas. 2:22). And then in verse 24 James concludes again, “A man is justified by works and not by faith alone.”

In my 75 years I have had many different non-Catholics telling me to get out of the Catholic Church, and into their particular church. I noticed in my 20s, when I converted to Catholicism, every one of these denominations had a special problem with the Catholic Church. Their literature always took shots at the Catholic Church. It really got under their skin. This intriqued me. I made a study. The false premise of Bible Only and Bible First is very difficult to dispute. It has a certain degree of truth to it. It seems like Protestantism generally lacks the capacity to understand the subtlety in apostolic theology. Fortunately for its adherents, it's not a requirement for salvation, but I can't help noticing that they're usually just not able to grapple with the nuances of abstract concepts at nearly the same level. I believe one of the core problems with Protestant theology is its poor grasp on dialectics. When you are unable to synthesize theses and antitheses in a systematic fashion, you remain trapped in all sorts of dialectical tensions like grace against merit or faith against works. Sure, you can build elaborate arguments that obfuscate these fundamental problems and appear to offer satisfactory explanations, provided you don't penetrate fully into the heart of the matter. Once you do, however, the position is more often than not exposed as untenable, with regression into an echo chamber and arguing with strawmen being the logical consequence.

The report, which looked at the findings of 26 royal commissions and other inquiries from Australia, Ireland, the UK, Canada and the Netherlands since 1985, found that while the endangerment of children in institutions has been considerably lowered in Australia, children remained at risk in Catholic parishes and schools and Catholic residential institutions in other countries across the world, especially in the developing world where there are more than 9,000 Catholic-run orphanages, including 2,600 in India. The patriarchal nature of Catholic institutions meant that abuse went unchallenged and, while a small number of nuns were abusers, the report found the risk of offending was much higher in institutions where priests and religious brothers had minimal contact with women. The report estimated about 7% of clergy had abused children between about 1950 and 2000. Source: Guardian, Netherlands, Melissa Davey, Wed 13 Sep 2017 02.32 EDT. A 2005 article in the Western People, a conservative Irish newspaper, proposed that celibacy itself had contributed to the abuse problem. There is a suggestion that the institution of celibacy has created a "morally superior" status that is easily misapplied by abusive priests. According to this paper, "The Irish Church's prospect of a recovery is zero for as long as bishops continue blindly to toe the Vatican line of Pope Benedict XVI that a male celibate priesthood is morally superior to other sections of society."Christoph Schönborn and Hans Küng have also said that priestly celibacy could be one of the causes of the sex abuse scandals within the Catholic Church. Source, Wikipedia: Debate on the causes of clerical child abuse. There have been many cases of sexual abuse of children by priests, nuns, and other members of religious life in the Catholic Church. In the 20th and 21st centuries, the cases have involved many allegations, investigations, trials, convictions, acknowledgement and apologies by Church authorities, and revelations about decades of instances of abuse and attempts by Church officials to cover them up. The abused include mostly boys but also girls, some as young as three years old, with the majority between the ages of 11 and 14.Criminal cases for the most part do not cover sexual harassment of adults. The accusations of abuse and cover-ups began to receive public attention during the late 1980s. Many of these cases allege decades of abuse, frequently made by adults or older youths years after the abuse occurred. Cases have also been brought against members of the Catholic hierarchy who covered up sex abuse allegations and moved abusive priests to other parishes, where abuse continued. The Papacy/Bishop of Rome/Catholicism has grown to be a claimant of 'The One True Church of Christ', and in that growth has used persecution of true believers that will not submit to its authority. This declined from a medieval peak with the fall of Papal Power in Rome, on September 1870 (with the 'capture of Rome' and the decline of the Papal states) but the Lateran Treaty via Mussolini in 1929 saw a restoration of Papal Prestige. The 'Fall of Constantinople' in 1453, then fortuitously saw the Byzantine Empire diminished and left the Papacy in top spot. The Fall of Constantinople was also tied to 'Dum Diversas', a Papal Bull which endorsed Portugal's initiating role in the West and Trans-Atlantic Slave Trades under Prince Henry the Navigator. Pope Martin V authorized a crusade against Africa in 1418 and this coupled with a later bull (1441) sanctioned the Portuguese trade in African slaves. Ten black African slaves were presented to Martin in 1441 by Prince Henry of Portugal. By 1444, a ‘cargo’ of 235 enslaved Africans had been brought to Lagos in Portugal. The Portuguese were using enslaved Africans on sugar plantations in Madeira, a Portuguese island off the west coast of Africa, by 1460. They built the first slave fort in 1481, on the coast of modern Ghana. This was Elmina Castle, the headquarters of the Portuguese slave traders. In the early 17th century, Portugal was a major trader in enslaved Africans. At this time, it held the asiento, or contract, to supply the Spanish colonies with slaves. This meant that as well as buying their own slaves, the Portuguese were buying slaves for Spanish owned plantations. This added to the overall number of slaves which Portuguese ships carried. Records show the total figure to be 4,650,000 enslaved Africans. On the 18th June 1452, Pope Nicholas V, issues the Papal Bull Dum Diversas, it authorised Alfonso V of Portugal to reduce any “Saracens (Muslims) and pagans and any other unbelievers” to perpetual slavery. This formally legitimized the Portuguese slave trade from West Africa, so serving as a major origin point of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. This Papal bull along with the doctrine of discovery and Berlin Scramble for Africa set off the basis of mass genocide, colonialism, destruction, theft of lands, apartheid, racism, segregated, racial inequality for tens of millions of people maybe more, with people still stigmatised, racially abused, police brutalised and mass incarcerated as a result. We also find the following: 1.) No direct admission of guilt, complicity, the foundational role played or the authorization given for the slave trade under the Roman Catholic Church - as given in various Papal Bulls. No condemnation of the blessings and approval for this! 2.) No papal accountability and reflection on the error of the Roman Catholic Church in assigning the Pope to have Papal Supremacy supposedly over the whole of Christendom - so as such that he was considered the supreme authority - as such to be unchallenged by such papal decrees. 3.) No wider acknowledgment of the wider damage, racial oppression, loss of identity and groups generated as religious lost identity cults like the Hebrew Israelites or the dehumanization and degradation caused and inflicted on the black race. 4.) No understanding of the mindset influenced and birthed for racists, especially those with power like Kings, who would in turn influence or perpetuate such attitudes and mindsets within the subjects of their kingdoms. In 1455, Pope Nicholas V gave Portugal the rights to continue the slave trade in West Africa, under the provision that they convert all people who are enslaved. The Portuguese soon expanded their trade along the whole west coast of Africa. Henry the Navigator held the monopoly on all expeditions to Africa granted by the crown until his death in 1460. The authority to write such a Papal Bull came out of the Papal claim and doctrine of 'Papal Supremacy', the Supreme Pontiff claim and a claim to 'Apostolic Succession', which we don't find Biblically, rather it is contrived by clever semantics, eisegesis and fallacious appeals in faulty hermeunetics. ...These false doctrines emanate from or are endorsed by The Catholic Church: * The Vicar of Christ...A God title affixed * The Primacy of Rome * Apostolic Succession and Sacred Tradition claims * Supreme Pontiff. As far as the Vatican is concerned, that government that signed the concordat has now become a part of the government of God, and the Vatican fully intends to stabilize that government, give it divine protection, and give it international protection. 1 Corinthians ch 5 v 10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with IDOLATERS; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an IDOLATERS, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. @@HebrewsvJohnv I see that much of your argument against Catholicism has to do with corruption within the church. Every church has corruption-but with 1.3billion Catholics in the world, the law of averages predicts this. The other half of your concern seems to be based in scripture. How do you know the books in your Bible are authoritative? After all, it was the early church which compiled the canon. I feel it’s inconsistent to affirm the inerrancy of the canon, while simultaneously judging the same men who compiled it as heretics. I am interested right now in the Eastern Orthodox Church-as I believe Catholics are the first Protestants. I could be wrong-but I view the 40,000+ “Christian” denominations (with their 40,000 differing doctrines) as being the fruit of Protestantism and a belief in sola-scriptura/toda-scriptura. I used to hold very strong IFB convictions, but I now have great trouble reconciling this view with the facts that 1) all recorded Christians before 1517 believed justification and sanctification were coextensive And 2) every recorded Christian before 1517 believed in regenerative water baptism. This is my current perspective! Very interesting stuff.

I was born into Catholicism but fell away in my early twenties. I dated (and eventually married) a protestant who reinvigorated my faith and got me spending time in the Word and seeking truth. After reading the Bible cover to cover, learning Church history and the faith of the early fathers, I am now a much more devout Catholic. With regard to Galatians 1:8-9, what Gospel was Paul preaching to the Galatians? The Gospel of Jesus Christ to Church he founded which would become the Catholic Church led by Peter. The "Faith Alone" gospel was not founded for another 1500 years so clearly, the Gospel Paul preached was different than Martin Luther's version that Protestants failed to hold on to what was preached. John 3:36 (in red letters) says that believers will see eternal life but if you disobey, will endure God's wrath. Jesus's own words tell us faith alone is a false gospel. That being said, Bishop Barron was correct that we do not earn our salvation, but once given we can accept or reject it, just like any free gift. Our works do not save, but we must still accept and nurture God's free gift by our own free will. Luke 8:13-15 explains the parable of the sower: "The ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe only for a while and in a time of testing fall away. 14 As for what fell among the thorns, these are the ones who hear; but as they go on their way, they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature. 15 But as for that in the good soil, these are the ones who, when they hear the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patient endurance." Even those with genuine faith are not automatically saved because they do not repent and obey Christ. Jesus said we cannot be saved unless we are born again of water and spirit. Peter never wrote that Baptism is symbolic of your already gained salvation. He wrote in 1 Peter 3, baptism now saves you. Baptism is not a symbol but an actual sacrament with salvific purpose. But also no one can baptize himself, he must receive it. It is not a work of our own doing but also does not fit in the faith alone doctrine. Since this channel is instructional, the I would call the host a teacher. Does James 3 not say teachers will be judged more strictly than lay people? If faith alone is the standard (a 50/50 proposition) how can they be judged on a scale? Lest I be accused of plagiarism, Ferris from How To Be Christian explains my points (and more) better than I ever could. I provide some links to his videos below. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3msqpujjdioZrM kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zl69mGCvhNlskLs kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnq7mWqLpr5-prM To the host of this video, I think you are probably a very devout Christian and most likely saved. While your Church contains elements of Biblical Truth, it lacks the fullness of it (the concept of fullness appears a lot in Catholic theology). I also think you may have been taught (through no fault of your own) lies about what Catholic Christians believe and your research may suffer from confirmation bias. I hope that your heart will open to learning what Catholicism actually teaches and not what you think it teaches. God Bless.

Amen to that. Protestants you‘re missing out on the Holy Eucharist and confession. Those sacraments were instated by Christ and are biblical. He told us to eat his flesh and drink his blood and to confess our sins to one another, this was not intended as a border, but as a pathway to grow closer to Christ. He gave his apostles the authority to forgive sins and their successors, the priests, therefore have the same authority. If you don‘t believe, look up our Lady of Guadalupe painting. Mary converted all of Mexico from Aztec culture and sacrificing people, to the grace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pray the Rosary, God bless.

@@PaoloRafael-dq1ei you don't need a human being to confess and call it confession. While you can go to God yourself and confess or repent. i was even told that from a Catholic priest himself. The Eucharist is almost like an idol worship. it clearly says in the word that you MUST be born again to receive eternal life. Catholics seem to focus more on the death of Christ when in fact He's alive! We are the priests because we have received the Holy Spirit and accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior. It even says in the word to go out and be disciples and proclaim the Gospel. We do not need to have successors intergrated with prayer. You're technically praying to dead people. There's no need. Jesus in our high priest we pray to the Father in Jesus' name.
@WC3isBetterThanReforged Жыл бұрын
@Cristina C. you are correct. I confess all the time in prayer to God. Confession gives the assurance of salvation. The Eucharist is not idol worship. It is Jesus's body and blood as he said it would be. Every other time Jesus spoke in metaphors, he told us it was a metaphor. Not so for his body and blood at the last supper. In the Didache, early Christians also took him literally. Catholics focus more on the resurrection than protestants. A common tag line of Protestants is "it is finished" with regard to the crucifixion.but Jesus still had to rise, then ascend then the spirit had to descend so clearly his work was not finished. Jesus is the head of the Catholic Church. We follow the successors of the Apostles because that is what he commanded.

I was raised Catholic and attended Catholic Schools. I was also an altar boy for a few years. I fell away from religion for 37 years and started attending a Mennonite Church with my wife (who was also raised Catholic) as I started my spiritual reawakening. My wife has been praying for decades that I return to God. After participating in the Mennonite services and making friends at the church, my awakening pulled me back to the Catholic Church. I have learned more in the past year about Catholicism than in the 13 years of my Catholic education. My eyes have been opened to Spiritual Warfare (Fr. Ripperger and the exorcists helped with that), and a true understanding of the Catholic Church. The need of the saints and participation in the Eucharist. The Mennonites and the Protestants believe in Jesus and live good lives, but I have heard that if God saves them, it will be in spite of their religion, not because of it. The more I learn and the more I grow in faith, the more I am starting to believe it. The non-Catholic Christians are handicapping themselves by relying only on the Bible, and not growing in spirituality with all the opportunities provided by God. It seems like a waste, like someone who has a Porsche and will not go higher than second gear. I have been to confession and pray the Rosary every day, not to be saved, but to try and be worthy of Jesus' sacrifice.

The entire purpose of all biblical doctrine is to live righteous,holy and loving lives, in Christ. I know many Catholics who do this. Now do you? If you think biblically why don't you leave these folks alone. Christ himself says to leave them alone. For most Protestants getting out of bed in the morning is considered works. We need to judge ourselves and show love to others. You show division. I was raised Catholic. Yes, they have doctrine from men mixed in. So do the Protestants. Ask yourself this my brother, are you living a Holy, Righteous, Loving life through Christ? The enemy has us bickering amongst ourselves. We fight not with human beings. Howdy! Catholic convert here. I think the missing piece in Protestant soteriology is the idea that salvation is a one and done event. This typically has the attached baggage of once saved always saved or the “perseverance of the saints”. Bishop Barron was pointing out that Catholics have always taught that INITIAL salvation is by grace alone through faith, but that does not mean FINAL salvation is only through faith, but rather by faith working through love (gal 5:6). I also think your caveats regarding “works of the law” including the moral law don’t line up with the use of that phrase in Romans or Galatians. The context is those laws that make a Jew a Jew. (Circumcision, kosher laws, sabbath laws) that’s why right after Paul’s famous statement in rom 3:28 he asks the question, “or is God the God of the Jews only?…” Anyway, I’m happy to interact further on this topic. Peace brother.

Hey thanks for the response. Here’s some scriptures that show a past, present and future salvation: Past: Romans 8:24 (in hope we WERE saved) Ephesians 2:5, 8-9 (by grace you HAVE BEEN saved) 2 Timothy 1:9, Titus 3:5 (He SAVED us…) Present: Philippians 2:12 (work out your salvation with fear and trembling) 1 Corinthians and 1:18 (but to us who are BEING SAVED) Future: Matthew 10:22, 24:13 (He who perseveres to the end WILL BE SAVED) Romans 5:9-10 (since we are justified, how much more SHALL WE BE SAVED…) Romans 13:11 (salvation is nearer now than when we first believed) Hebrews 9:28 (he will appear a second time… to save those who eagerly wait for him. I guess you could go through one by one and spin each of those verses to make them work with a one and done past event because you can MAKE the Bible say anything you want but, An honest reading puts salvation in the past (initial) in the present and in the future (final). So yes, the Bible unequivocally makes the distinction. Peace.
@nickswicegood4316 Жыл бұрын
You made the comment that scripture makes no such distinction. When i pointed out scripture that shows it does, you gave your interpretation that conflates the past with the present, and that somehow the future salvation is a guarantee because of the past. Fine. That’s your interpretation. Scripture still makes the distinction. Be very careful assuming scripture and your interpretation of it are the same thing.

We Catholics believe we are saved, justified, sanctified, born again, and our souls are marked with the Seal of Life by the Holy Spirit through baptism. We believe that know one deserves or can earn or merit the grace of salvation and that it is entirely a gift freely given to us by God. We also believe saved or not sin is still sin. We know that we WILL mess up and fall short of the perfection we are called to in Matt 5:48 AKA sin and if that sin is severe enough it deserves divine retribution/punishment so when that happens we need to repent. The good news is Jesus was given the power to forgive sins and died for our sins and that Jesus in the Gospel of John 20:23 gave the same power to forgive sins to the apostles who passed it on to others. This power perfects the Jewish rite of atonement the apostles would have been familiar with; publicly confessing sins and sin offering/oblation for the sins. The key difference is that Jesus Christ IS the perfect sacrifice, so we do not need to do any animal sacrifice. Our works are called merit. Merit is first attributed to God then to us. This happens because of our filial adoption by God the Father making us coheirs with Jesus. It is first God's because it is through God prompting us by the Holy Spirit and then ours through our cooperation with the Holy Spirit for the Glory of God that we earn merit. Words like "Purgatory" "Bible" "Consubstantial" and "Trinity" are not explicitly in the Bible but the concepts ARE there. Purgatory in the Bible is under Sheol or abode/land of the dead which is different from Hell. It is more explicitly alluded to by St. Paul speaking about a fire of purification in 1 Corinthians 3:15 and again in Heb 12:29. In the OT we see it in II Macc. xii. 44-45 and "The same view, that an atonement should be made for the dead, is expressed in Sifre, Deut. 210." (quote from the JewishEncyclopedia). Sheol (in Hebrew), hades (in Greek) which is not Hell(Gehenna), and purgatorium (in Latin) is purgatory as we have come to know it today. Further illustrations of this belief are in Luke 16:19-31 with Lazarus and the richman parable and clearly evident in the Transfiguration of Jesus in Matthew 17. They are clearly alive not asleep and fully conscience. The question is where are they Heaven? then why do we even need a savior? Hell? Hell is permanent and not for righteous. Therefore there must be some intermediate place. It is NOT some redo or second chance. It IS a final purification for those of us who didn't FINISH purifying ourselves while alive. Matthew 5:48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. It is necessary because Revelation 21:27 tells us nothing unclean can enter Heaven. God Bless.

Catholicism isn’t of God. If you truly read your bible you would know that Catholicism is false. Catholicism leads you to men. That’s a lie from the pit of hell. The sacrifice of Christ is enough to save you. Read your bible. Don’t be lead by your feelings or by The pope who thinks he is a god but he’s not. Christ did die for us who believe in his name. And he rose from the dead.
@adrianrehak85856 ай бұрын
Correct! You must DO more, but not because the Pope said it but Jesus said it. Repent of your sins and if you believe follow the ultimatums, commands, and teachings of Jesus which does involve a lot. Jesus did a lot for us! You won't "earn" salvation, but you will prove that you believe Jesus when you DO His will. Sadly, Protestants, by varying degrees depending on their branch of a denomination, ignore much of what Jesus taught including some of His ultimatums. If you fail an ultimatum you get the consequences of that ultimatum given to you by Jesus. John 6:53 is an ultimatum they ALL fail. Some, perhaps only a few, fail John 3:5 believing baptism is unnecessary. I'm obviously not familiar with the beliefs of thousands of denominations. Of about 10 ultimatums Jesus gave I don't know how many each Protestant fails. Probably some only fail a few and others likely fail many. Read John 14:12, the words were spoken by Jesus Himself, and James 2:17. Both passages bluntly dictate the necessity of WORKS! Literally, I have saved in a spreadsheet 425 passages from the Bible, about 400 are from the New Testament, that COMMAND or imply the necessity for works. Some are duplicates so perhaps only 300-400 such passages. They don't say our works earn our way to heaven. They say that good works are what anyone who truly believes in Jesus will do following His ultimatums, commands, and teachings. That is, DOING HIS WILL. Prayers for you.

Jesus was asked, " What must we do to do the works God requires? " Jesus answered, " The work of God is this; to BELIEVE in the one He has sent." That's the word of God from the mouth of Jesus.

Hi, I'm Catholic, (non english native and beginner in stading Word of God). If you need right explanation I recommend contacting with Catholic priests but I can try at least make it clearer. I belive that Jesus saved us from fallen nature of humanity so every one who believes in him is saved (Rom 6 6-14). BUT You can lose it (salvation)(Judas, Matth 25 14-30, antichrists) so not to do so you need to straighten your relation with God and fight with yourselves (Iac 1 14-15) . I haven't met or know through my entire live anybody who after being saved by Jesus is perfect, don't make mistakes (1Ioann 8-10). I don't belive in achieving salvation (Eph 2 8-9). So concluding Jesus opened a narrow road for us and we need God to get through to heaven. (Matth 7 13-14, **__Philipp 2 12-13__**). It is relationship (where God plays predominant role) and we are supposed to listening to him, do what he wants (Iac 2 14-26) and don't run away (sin, apostate). I'm happy to hear from all of you what do you thing about it and why am I wrong. (I am not promising that I will respond). Thank you.

While I am no fan of the Catholic church and believe it is still a cult, you are correct there is a false grace being pushed in today's modern churches. James address the obedience through the Word while Paul address obedience not found in the Law, the Mosaic Law., where salvation is not received by works of the Law. you will never hear the book of James preached whem the topic is grace, faith and works. (Jas 2:24) You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. (Jas 2:22) You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; (Jas 2:20) But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? (Jas 2:26) For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead. Paul’s works. (Galatians 3:2) Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law, or by hearing with faith. (Galatians 2:16) Not justified by works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. (Galatians 3:10) Those who rely on works of the law are under a curse. (Galatians 2:21) If righteousness comes through works of the law, Christ died for nothing. (Romans 10:4) Christ is the end of Works of the law. Romans 10:4, Romans 9:32, 3:28. These are just a few examples of O.T Law of works. However, don't confuse O.T works with N.T faith. Your faith is your belief in Christ. Not merely because you think your saved/redeemed because you believe in God, (even the demons believe) but because your love for Christ compels you to follow Him, obey his teachings, pick up your crosses and deny the flesh. Repentance in order to rid sin is necessary for salvation, there is no salvation without repentance. John and Peter preached repent and be baptized. Jesus: “repent and believe.” Paul: “Godly sorrow brings us to repentance which leads us to salvation.” Luke: “Christ will suffer and rise on the 3rd day, and in His name repentance for the forgiveness of sins to be proclaimed to all nations.” Obedience to Christ is never a work. "Those that love Him keep his commandments." But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 1 John 2:5.

Let me ask you this. If you accept Jesus in your heart and are saved, should you live a lifestyle of sin? Partying, adultery, treating people wrong etc? I don’t think so and I grew up in a Protestant church where yes, you are saved but there still is repentance. You still have to pick up your cross every day and follow Jesus. This is what catholics believe. As a former Protestant, now Catholic, I actually see there’s more similarities than differences. Catholics don’t believe in works and there seems to be a stigma with that. Works do not give you salvation, grace does. But we simply believe you need to cooperate with that grace. I honestly think Protestants believe this too or like I said, they would be living a life of debauchery during the week and then just going to church on Sundays.

When we get saved, we are called out of darkness into light, and old things are passed away (2 Cor 5: 17). Be not deceived, God is not mocked (Gal 6: 7). We are expected to do good works and live for Jesus (Eph 2: 10) But, there are some who will be saved that will perform no works (Romans 4: 5) (Titus 3: 5) and are still justified by faith. Salvation guarantees our entry into heaven, is a free gift for believing and having faith in Jesus and His work on the cross. Christians with little or no works will be judged at the "judgement seat of Christ" in heaven and will suffer loss of treasures and rewards in heaven for their laziness and negligence, but are still saved (1 Cor 3: 15). They will lose unspeakable rewards in heaven, and that is why Christians should endeavor to live in service for our Lord. Living a life for Jesus is important. We must keep in mind that we are saved by grace, by Jesus' righteousness, not our righteousness (Isaiah 64; 6), for all our righteousnesses are like a filthy rag before a perfect God. Grace and works are independent (Eph 2: 8,9) (Romans 11: 6). There are many examples of saved Godly people in the Bible, including David, who committed adultery and murder, that later repented and are now in heaven. With all of his flaws, David was called by God as a man "after His own heart", because he demonstrated faith and sincerely tried to follow God, although David was clearly a failure at times. Christians are not saved by endurance, but by faith (Luke 7: 50).

Catholics can't agree on their gospel. When they try say we're saved by faith, they always require good works and their sacraments, which help them "persevere"till the end. Pray for the Catholics that are still lost! (I'm sure some have come to belief in faith alone in Christ's finished work, but most are still relying on their own good works). Jesus paid it all. I just finished reading the New Testament. I couldn't find the word "Alone" as in Faith Alone or Christ Alone or Grace Alone. And no, I'm not Catholic. I'm Eastern Orthodox. The Orthodox believe what St. Paul teaches, which is Faith Working through Love. We must have faith in Christ but continually do good works. In the Gospels and Revelation, we will be judged by our works. At the same time, just our works Alone will not get us too heaven. It's following Christ and we keep stumbling up the hills towards him, so by this logic, put holes right through this whole "I'm saved" or "Once saved always saved" nonsense .
@verrolinefanijten2238 Жыл бұрын
Ephesians 2:8-9, doesn't say "alone", but it clearly states that we're not saved by our works and that it's a gift of God.

@verrolinefanijten2238 when did I say we are saved by our works alone?? That's false!! We as Christians work with a synergy with God and we follow Christ till the end. How do we follow Christ? Good question I'm glad you asked. It's to do the Fathers will and stumble up the hill and die to ourselves everyday but because we are sinners we keep on dropping the ball, And we need God's grace to help us. All this Protestant garbage only made up 500 years ago. Do your research on Church history, dont take my word on it.
@verrolinefanijten2238 Жыл бұрын
@@steadfastgodcast You didn't, but I do wonder about something. You say: faith in Christ + continually doing good works, am I right? Works alone won't take us to heaven, that we agree on. So, faith alone won't take us to heaven either? What even are good works? Helping others out, praying for others, forgiving others, telling others about the gospel etc.? Imo, the will to do those things come naturally. I mean, sometimes we will fail to do them, but we will be wanting to do them. So, my point here is that 'doing good works' is not supposed to be 'extra' on top of your faith. Maybe I'm totally wrong on this, I don't know.
@steadfastgodcast Жыл бұрын
@verrolinefanijten2238 that's right it's not extra, it's like what St Paul "Faith working through Love" . Don't get hung up on the works side of things or faith alone nonsense. @@steadfastgodcast Please read John 10:28-29, Ephesians 2:8. Christ says those who are his cannot be plucked from his hand, ever. Paul says we receive grace by faith, not of ourselves, not of works. That sounds a lot like faith alone and once saved always saved to me. Jesus Christ himself said John 3:16. All who believe on him will be saved. Sounds like faith alone to me. See John 6:35 and 40. Christ says what he says, Paul says what he says. Read Romans 10:9. These things cannot be argued.

Ephesians 2:10 is so vital. "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." We can not do any good works until we are first saved and created anew in Jesus Christ. Catholics don't understand this, they think they need to perform good works to be put into Christ, rather than trusting the gospel of grace and receiving the free gift of salvation that happens the moment we believe. After we are saved, we do the works of God, not before!

@@khill4053 Well, any Catholic who does it to earn salvation - and I agree there are quite a number - is ignorant of Catholic doctrine, which says earning salvation is impossible. Quite a few Catholics (many Catholics, perhaps, in the past) are Pelagians. Pelagianism has been a sort of dry rot that has infected the Catholic Church "root and branch" as I heard a Catholic charismatic preacher say back in the Nineties. This, even though it was of course the Catholic Church that condemned Pelagius's mistakes in the first place. The same applies to penance. It is not a means of earning salvation, but of Christians disciplining "the Flesh" so as to persevere in grace and resist temptations. Our Lord said "Unless you do penance, you shall not be saved." And penance means here, not just repentance and prayer, but actual acts of self-denial; something that is sadly lacking from Western Christianity in modern times.

@GR65330 Жыл бұрын
The Catholic Church has been preaching the true Gospel century since the first century and it is the reformers that began preaching another gospel. 1 Cor. 15:3-5 has been part of the Apostle & Nicean creeds so to say that Catholics reject this is wrong. Penal substitution is a product of the reformation and therefore not apostolic in origin. Your misinterpretation of Paul's teaching doesn't change this. The teaching of once saved, always saved was unheard of until Calvin came along and therefore not apostolic in origin. In other words, non-Catholic theology is based on the teaching of the reformers and therefore not apostolic in origin.

Saying the Holy Apostolic Church founded by Christ on Peter's shoulders is hell bound is a very interesting stance. Catholics do not believe that they can win salvation through works... works are the tangible manifestation of faith. A Catholic is humbly and acutely aware of his shortcomings, never prideful or boastful and definitely never self congratulatory. (painted graves) I enjoy most of your clips. This one falls short, in my opinion, for a variety of reasons. So much richness is thrown out and missed out on.

@@TexasBlues-ip6sv Thank you for the reply, having gone through all you stated, it was truly profound and worth questioning. I hope you take the time out to go through my response in the same meticulous manner as well. God bless. 1a. Philippians 2:6 - This is clear. Existing in the form of God points to his divinity. It also says "didnt consider his equality with God something to cling on", just points to how he could have behaved but how he actually lived which is the humility attribute we imitate as christians. If it said didnt consider himself equal, it would have been another thing, but it references the fact that there was equality present, but he just didnt portray it while on earth until the time leading to his death, resurrection and ascension. So not considering his equality with God as something to cling on is different from "did not consider himself equal with God which is what i think you are leaning to. With this, Colossians 1:19 doesnt contradict so no need to explain that. 2a In the new covenant, there is one mediator, Christ Jesus the God man. However in Galatians 3vs 20, it speaks to the Old testament covenant, which is the Law, the angels were God's representative, Moses represented Israel, which would indicate that since there were intermediaries, the covenant was bilateral, but in verse 20, he states that the covenant is from God and does not require intermediary to set it up like we have business deals today, hence its unilateral and it comes from God. It's still the same God in both verses, points to his sovereign rule and decree. 3. For Eph 2:15, The word translated as "abolish" here is the Greek word katargēsas. This literally means "to render inoperative," or "to remove all power from." so it doesnt mean to discard the law entirely. Sometimes, the english verb doesnt do justice as its the only close word to describe it but if you boil it down to its original text, you get the idea. I dont think i need to touch on the other since the verb abolish in its greek origin ties them together. 4. For this part of righteousness by law, only doers of the entire law are deemed righteous, however, the Bible is filled with texts that no one is able to perfectly uphold and carry out the commands or the precepts embedded in the Law to the full extent, no one except Jesus, that is why he is the righteous one cause he did it all perfectly, hence, he inputs his righteousness to us as believers and we are deemed righteous because of his works and not ours, hence my earlier quote, we are saved through grace by faith in Jesus christ.......... (you know the rest). So just because he said doers of the law will be justified doesnt mean there were persons (apart from Jesus) who were in this category. 5. Lastly, Salvation is neither by works or deeds or any positive confession you care to make. You can confess all you want. Its the work of God, the Spirit convicting the heart of someone in darkness and revealing his sinfulness gives rise to what is in Romans 10:9, so its actually the person acting out what God has done in the person, doesn't mean it starts from the confession, just to be clear. It kinda summarizes what the person does as a result of what the Spirit has accomplished in the heart of the before now depraved soul. Then the second verse you pointed out, you should know that in verse 6, it says,"He will render to each one according to his works:", which introduces two sets of people, one in verse 7 and the other in verse 8. The set in verse 7 by patience in well doing seek for glory, immortality and eternal life but not self seeking, they seek it from the person who has it. John 6:68 reemphasizes who has the gift of eternal life, however, in verse 8, it speaks about the other set of persons, they are self seeking, don't obey, there will be wrarh and fury. So it's clear, it underscores the fact that salvation is by faith and not works. Please feel free to read the cited texts and see that there are no contradiction, never will be. God bless.

Outside of that in further falsehood for me you then have: * The Immaculate Conception * Mary's Perpetual Virginity * Veneration of Mary - Two Papal Infallibility Statements * Marian Apparitions * Purgatory (Sale of indulgences led to the Reformation) * Eucharist Transubstantiaton * Infant Baptism * Priesthood Celibacy * Veneration of saints and sacred images. Himmler's title as supreme chief of the S.S. was to be the equivalent of the Jesuits' 'General' and the whole structure was a close imitation of the Catholic Church's hierarchical order." 3:56 I was previously starting a comment here, in a cyber, but it seems some bright head (or otherwise) gave you an opportunity to answer my comment before I could go on and comment on this following part of the video. But here are a few of the things I was commenting on: 3:47 _"Roman Catholics don't believe this"_ If it comes to the punishment death, we very clearly do believe it. 3:49 _"believe in the doctrine of Purgatory"_ Like, what's the connexion between believing that and supposedly not believing Jesus bore our sins? 3:52 _"they believe that they will pay for their own sins"_ Not really. 1) We believe that Jesus paid for our sins on the Cross so we can get saved 2) We believe that the justification in baptism takes care of all previous sins and penalties for sin and one pays nothing at all for these 3) We believe that to get justified again _after_ a mortal sin _after_ baptism, one needs to confess, and one pays a price for that, namely penance 4) We believe that sometimes the penance due is not done correctly, but neglected or rushed through, and that some venial sins are not repented, which means one comes before God in a state not immediately apt to enter Heaven 5) And that _that_ is what purgatory is about. 3:56 _"for thousands, sometimes 100s of 1000s of years"_ I think this is a misunderstanding of what "indulgence of 70 000 years" means. This example might make it clear that it's about the time of canonic penance on earth this corresponds to, not the time in purgatory as such. Also, Pope Leo XIII abolished all partial indulgences of 1000 years or longer.

Yes, the Catholic Church places high importance on participating in salvation through 1) The Saints (the communication with the dead), 2) Artistic tradition (idolatry), 3) Apostolic governance (Papal authority over salvation), and 4) the Sacraments (the ritual of Sun and Moon worship encrypted into the symbols of the Host and Monstrance, the delusion of transsubstantiation, and the repetitive sacrifice of Christ to imply insufficiency of his one-time work on the cross).
@tonybuck1225 Жыл бұрын
The Saints are in Heaven - they are more alive than we are ! No sane Catholic worships religious paintings or sculptures. You are either ignorant or guilty of the sin of calumny. Papal authority helps people to be saved. Didn't Jesus give the Apostles authority ? His own authority, in fact. The host doesn't have to be round, the monstrance doesn't have to show a sunburst ! What drivel you are writing. The Catholic understanding of the Lord's Supper is biblical and a valid interpretation of the Bible - arguably the only valid one. The Mass isn't a repetition of Christ's sacrifice.

@@tonybuck1225 What kind of drivel is this ignorant calumnist writing? People who immediately jump to using ad-hominem insults and lots of exclamation points to make their arguments usually don't have very persuasive arguments to begin with; that is obvious to most people. The saints died. That goes without saying. As your rebuttal to my having implied that praying to Saints and Mary constitutes forbidden communication with the dead, you said that they are alive now, in heaven. The Bible makes clear that the dead are not conscious (Eccl. 9:5-6; 9:9-10); that will stand true until their future resurrection at the second coming of Christ. As for the claim that they are alive, well, there is certainly no scriptural evidence of that. As for the claim that they are in heaven, John informed us in John 3:13 (written between 85-95 AD) that "no man [no mortal human] hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven". Enoch and Elija did not "ascend"; they were taken and conveyed proactively by God, and at least there are scriptural accounts for them. Popes themselves pray to the statues (sculptures) of Mary. The Catholic Church calls it "reverence", as distinct from "worship", of the Saints and Mary. Who do they think they are fooling with the semantic game? Either way, in scripture we were never told to pray to anyone other than God, the Father, in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. People don't need help to be saved other than that offered by Jesus Christ. They only need know the gospel, which, by the way, was something the Papacy kept out of people's hands for a very long period of history. Yes, I have seen the Sun symbolized even in square form; the Imperial Japanese flag, for example. A Sun, nonetheless. It is the host that represents the Sun. The typically crescent-shaped piece within the central case of the monstrance called the "Luna" (Latin for "moon", as most are aware) is what represents the Moon cradling the Sun of the host [e.g. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/41/Turmmonstranz_Bozen_1490.jpg ]. It is the same symbol found in Islam. It represents the demon Isis, Ishtar, Astarte (Diana, sister of Apollo, the demon king of the abyss in Revelation), a.k.a. Ashteroth ( the wife of Ba'al, in Jeremiah 7:18, 44:17, known as the "Queen of Heaven" for whom the apostate Judahites baked cakes). The Mass is not; that's not what I said. You know very well that the Eucharist is: The priests "command" Jesus down and sacrifice him on the altar over and over and over again.

Salvation is a free gift. Either it is a free gift or it is not a free gift. If it is not a free gift, and there is any payback, any strings attached, it is no longer "salvation"; it becomes "probation". Faith alone believers also believe in good works (Titus 3: 8) (Eph 2: 10). Unlike Catholics, faith-alone believers do not perform good works to show, prove, or secure a free gift; for in the formula for salvation, works and grace are clearly independent and cannot be mixed (Romans 11: 6). Jesus did all the proving and securing on the cross. Salvation calls us out of darkness into the marvelous light (1 Peter 2: 9). Be not deceived; God is not mocked. Christians do not have a license to sin. To become effective Christians, we should not be stuck in idol. Rather, in gratitude and thanks for His miraculous free gift (2 Cor 9: 15), we perform good works as a result of the joy of our salvation. We are saved because of "His" righteousness, not "ours", because "all of our righteousnesses are like filthy rags" (Isaiah 64: 6). Salvation guarantees us our entry into heaven. In heaven, we stand before the Judgement seat of Christ for our works, for our service to the Lord (2 Cor 5: 10) (Matthew 5: 12). So, obviously, Catholics and faith-alone advocates both believe in works, but for different reasons. But, the Bible is clear in over 100 verses that belief and faith are all that are necessary for our entry into heaven, and grace is all that is necessary for salvation, without any works (Eph 2: 8, 9) (Romans 4:5).

1 Timothy 2:5, "There is one mediator between God and Man - the Man Christ Jesus." Purgatory, praying to Mary, Praying to Saints, calling priests, "Father", Baptizing children, not reading the Bible, selling alcohol in church, having worldly music played at Church gatherings are all bad practices that lead people to hell. I was 14 and a Christian gave us a tract that you must be born again. My Mother took it home and I read it. It quoted verses from John 3:3-7. I said, "Look at these protestants, inventing false doctrines to try and get us to go to their Church. If being born again was in the Bible, the Catholic Priests would have taught us." At 16 I bought a bible and to my amazement, John 3:3-7 was in it, and then reading, I found out that being "Born Again" was the main thrust of the new Testament! But Catholics did not know about being Born Again. Orthodox Churches also do not know about being Born Again. The older the Church, the more they are steeped in Tradition and Man Made doctrines like praying to saints.

As a Catholic who converted from Protestant, I will say that if you read the Catholic Credo, it affirms the Gospel.Catholic belief is succinctly expressed in the profession of faith or credo called the Nicene Creed: The Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. I am so happy I finally found Truth. You will never find a Protestant church that pays such Reverence and respect and dedication that the Catholic church gives to our GOD. If you walk into a Catholic church, you can feel the Holiness in the air. The Protestant church is more about making people comfortable where as in the Catholic church, it is more about sacrafice to our GOD. Alot of prayer and quiet time for him.I met Christ spiritually in my Catholic Church. Remember Jesus told us in John 6:53-57, Jesus says, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever. The Catholic Church is the only church that believes in the true presence of Chist in the Eucharist. We believe it to be his true flesh and his true blood with the consecrated wine. As far as being justified by grace, that is absolutely correct, but what is misleading is that protestants think that no matter what they do after they are saved that they cannot lose their salvation. That is not correct. That is why Paul tells us in Philippians 2:12-13 ESV Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. We need to continue to work and be pleasing to him or we can lose our inheritance. Matthew 25: 14-30 14 “For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants[a] and entrusted to them his property. 15 To one he gave five talents,[b] to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. 16 He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. 17 So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. 18 But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master's money. 19 Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 20 And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here, I have made five talents more.’ 21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.[c] You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ 22 And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me two talents; here, I have made two talents more.’ 23 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ 24 He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, 25 so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.’ 26 But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? 27 Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. 29 For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

The start of the mass we confess our sins so that we may be worth for the Holy mass and Eucharist sacrifice, then we listen to the word of God first and second readings and the Gospel the the homely. After the homely. Before the Priest takes the Eucharist ( he says some words ) and we reply "Lord I'm not worth you enter under my roof but only say a word and my soul shall be healed", these are Biblical word of humbleness In the Gospel of Luke we are told about a Centurion who asks Jesus to heal his servant who is ill. The centurion says to Jesus, “Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my servant shall be healed” (Luke 7: 6-7). That line, with one minor adjustment, eventually made its way into the Mass. However, in the original translation from Latin to English the line became “I am not worthy to receive you, but only the say the word and I shall be healed.”. I like the Holy mass.

These were all Catholic councils, the Bible did not drop from heaven but it was compiled by the Church Fathers throughout the years and finally canonically accepted. Since we are talking about faith, how about looking at the example of Abraham, father of the faith? Abraham believed and obeyed God since he was 75 years old. But, 25 years later, God tested Abraham by telling him to sacrifice Isaac, his only son. And in that moment, the Lord knew that Abraham feared God. Genesis 12:22 “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. *Now I know that you fear God,* because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.” So now you understand why Catholics believe that faith is not an instantaneous event, but a process. Abraham, who had obeyed and believed in God for 25 years, had his faith confirmed by his persevering actions in obeying God. That's why Catholics won't assume that our faith is strong enough to save. It is God's decision. So Catholics just obey God's commands by acting according to His word.

@@arceneaux66 That is 1 Corinthians 7:8. There is no right and wrong. One should mary, but if stay single for whatever reason, it is better. Paul even says it is better to be married if you can't control yourself. So the devil won't have a hold of you. Timothy 3 establsihes the qualifications of a pastor. There is nothing in the Bible asking anyone to be celibate. This is why so many priests fall for flesh and have relations with women behind closed dooors. Many have children with them.

@@Willowy13 That’s right. If one can’t control their burning. But it is better to stay single. The church does not make priests stay single. It is their choice, knowing full well what is expected of a priest.

Let me be clear as proud Catholic, I don't need to watch your video to even say this with confidence, it is NOT your place to say who and what goes to hell just as I could make a video stating that most protestants are going to hell, WE aren't YOUR enemy!!! We both believe in Christ at the end of the day and trivializing stupid topics like this is a waste of time and is NOT what God wants, let us hold hands and walk together as brothers and sisters and make the world better... please ✝️🕊️

Do YOU know where YOU are going to spend ETERNITY!? HEAVEN or HELL? They DO exist! Do you really want to take a chance when you die? Where are YOU going to go? You WILL go to one place, or the other. Luke 16 19 “There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. 20 But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, 21 desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on fme, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. 26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’ 27 “Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ 29 Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’ ” ******* We must realize that we are ALL SINNERS! * Have you ever lied? Even in the smallest way? You’re a LIER! * Have you ever stolen anything? No matter how little an item? You’re a THEIF! * Have you ever Murdered someone? Gossip and hatred towards someone is murder. So you’re a MURDERER! * Have you ever committed adultery? Just looking at someone lustfully is adultery. You’re an ADULTERER! We have ALL done these SINFUL THINGS, and more, in one way or another. We’ve ALL broken the Ten Commandments of God! We now have the DEATH SENTENCE upon us for our SINS! Which means, WE GO TO HELL, aka, The Eternal Lake of Fire! THANK GOD, HE gave us a way out!! We have SALVATION through JESUS, Gods only begotten Son. Who suffered, DIED and Shed His Blood on the Cross for all of us. He washes our Sins away with His Holy Blood. BUT, We MUST believe in Him with Complete FAITH in our HEARTS and SOULS! This is the MOST IMPORTANT part. To BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART that JESUS died on the Cross for YOUR SINS, AND that HE ROSE FROM THE GRAVE ON THE THIRD DAY! HE ASCENDED to Heaven, and will be coming for The True Believers when the time comes, which will be soon. ****** If you believe in your heart that Jesus died for your Sins and rose from the Grave on the third day, you are more than half way to True Salvation. KEEP IN MIND, THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO TRUE SALVATION! You MUST BECOME A BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN, as Jesus tells us…….. John 14:6 New King James Version “6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” “John 3:3-8 King James Version 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be Born Again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the SPIRIT. 1st John 3:9 9 Whosoever is Born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin because he is Born of God. If works have nothing to do with it, explain this: On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers'" (Matthew 7:21-23).
@Rendasd Жыл бұрын
Sounds like a bunch of works and Christs still denies you. Which has everything to do with what you actually should be doing. Read Hebrews chapter 9 and 10 about how the Eucharist is being used today in a sacrilege manner. The Bible has the answers you're looking for, it's not found in asking Mary to pray for you or the Saints intercession. Your one and only mediator is Christ and by that channel you gain direct access to God, from there pray daily, keep knocking :)

I think Jesus explained it for you. They will list all the works they've done in his name and he will say.. Depart from me I....never....knew....you! Now when someone is truly born again he or she will be given a new heart and we will naturally bear good fruit So the people who say "I'm a Christian " but have zero change you can say to them "then show me" (see James 2 ) Your works/fruit are evidence of salvation not required for it. Your own works are useless Isaiah 64:6 But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away. Titus 3:5-7 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, Not of works, lest any man should boast Titus 1:2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began God bless.

@@mrsTreadnaught You: Your works/fruit are evidence of salvation not required for it. Your own works are useless That right there is a problem because we NEVER claimed works required for salvation. However, if fruits of your faith aren't showing then you should be worried, examine your conscience, and seek spiritual guidance. The Magisterium teaches no one can earn or merit salvation rather because of God's love for us He grants us salvation. It is a gift from God. The Magisterium teaches that there is more to justification than just an event or moment in time, and that God doesn’t simply declare us righteous. Rather He makes us righteous in justification and sanctifies us with His grace, but then He wants us to grow in righteousness over the course of our life, and, if we cooperate with His grace, we will. However despite all of that certain temporal consequences of sin remain in the baptized such as suffering, illness, death, frailties, character flaws, and inclination to sin is left for us to wrestle with, it cannot harm those who do not consent but fully resist it by the grace of Jesus Christ. The Magisterium teaches that we also can claim merit because we are adopted by God the Father and are made coheirs with Jesus Christ. Therefore our cooperation with the prompts of the Holy Spirit makes the merit first God's and then it is attributed to us. It is that understanding of merit we have that makes your statement of "Your own works are useless" wrong. Matthew 28:19-20: Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the world. Mark 8:34 He then called the people and his disciples to him and said to them, “Anyone who wishes to follow me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. Matthew 25:1-13 The Parable of the Ten Virgins Matthew 25:14-30 The Parable of the Talents. Matthew 25:31-46 The Solemn Judgment at the End of Time.

It’s hard to believe that one can be saved and not go to church, read the Bible, confess sins and ask for forgiveness or try and live a good holy life. If this were the case then everyone would get saved and live how they wish.
