It's weird because Gwen was kinda mid in the original comics, but everything since then with her has been far more interesting and enjoyable. Ultimate Gwen Stacy was a nice change of pace being more rebellious. Spider-Man Blue made her far more likeable and we see how Peter really felt about her. The Amazing Spider-Man movies portray her as being very sweet and less of a nagging mean girls cast member. Then Spider-Gwen came into the world and changed things up again, making her similar to her Ultimate comics self, but more modern. Idk I like her a lot.

As kids we wanted Mary Jane. As adults we all wanted Ursula Dikovich. She was always trying to be there for Peter. In Spider-Man 2 when he was going through his crisis, she gave him cake and milk to cheer him up. In Spider-Man 3 she made him cookies and was even willing to make some with nuts for him. Awesome video there... I admit, i never looked at it this way. I'm used to "good women are right, men wrong", so I always thought MJ is caught in the web of Peter's indecisiveness. But I did notice a couple of things that bugged me always : - When peter missed the play, MJ didn't even care about why he missed it. Come on, Peter got run over by a truck on his pathetic motorcycle, he wasn't even spidermanning. He could just as well have been paralyzed in a hospital bed and MJ would have called him saying "don't try anymore, you suck". - The Jameson dude looks like a douchebag... but he never acts as such. In the books and the comics MJ WAS originally very supportive of Peter and very aware of her limitations. When Morlun's brothers and sister come looking for Spider-Man she doesn't panic when it looks like they're discovered. She had prepared emergency kits for the both of them since she knew this came with the territory. And she was the one that actually finished off Morticia before she could kill Peter. It is mostly in recent years, surprise surprise, that she's been turned into what she is now. My issue with the Raimi films is that too much of the story is centered around Peter's toxic relationship with her when there's more fun/interesting/potentially interesting supporting characters I'd rather see Peter interact with.

@@sorachi8788 Yeah they weren't great friends to each other but I will defend Harry on making a move on MJ. Peter barely made a move on her for close to a year, so Peter isn't that much entitled or call dibs on her. What Harry should have done tho is inform Peter that he has a thing for MJ as a good friend should do. Plus lets not judge their friendship too much, we have at one point fucked over our best friend once or twice in our lifetime. Which is why the topic of forgiveness is raised in Spiderman 3. If you have never had a disagreement or argument with your friend before. It means you arent real friends, you are probably "yes-men" to each other. If you can forgive your friend after a heated disagreement or argument it makes your friendship stronger.

I'll never understand why Peter didn't lock down his landlord's daughter. She was always so sweet and kind. Even watching these films as a kid I always shipped him and the landlord's daughter over MJ or even Gwen 😭. Edit: and even by the end his landlord ended being a respectful guy and gave him amazing advice on why people needed heroes! So honestly that's the perfect woman and father in law for Peter Parker!

Technically she's not the real Mary Jane. She is Larry Jane. The Mary Jane Watson that I Know would never do such thing to Peter. In fact she even become his wife during the early times when comic books were readable. It's just that the makers of the movie didn't give faithful adaptation of the character . The current comic book writers do not utilize Mary Jane Watson like it's predecessors on early comics.

It gave me vibes of Tobey's Spiderman living in a worn down apartment and having basically nothing again. Of the 3 Spidermen, Tom's definitely had it the worst of the 3. He had to sacrifice literally everything for the greater good and it's where he learned true responsibility. Everybody in NWH absolutely killed it imo.

Yes, actually Marvel has been doing that for years, not just with Joe Quesada, but Gerry Conway did kill Gwen also bc her relationship with Peter was growing really fast and if she did catch on then they'd have gotten married instead of Peter and MJ. Most of the editorial wants Peter to be relatable, but they believe him being married to MJ doesn't make him relatable. Thus, they wrote MJ like a bitch, especially the ones who hate her being with Peter. Zeb Wells hasn't tried much with PeterxBlackCat, but he did break him and MJ up on purpose for unwanted drama.
