Ultimate Gwen Stacy was a nice change of pace being more rebellious. Spider-Man Blue made her far more likeable and we see how Peter really felt about her. The Amazing Spider-Man movies portray her as being very sweet and less of a nagging mean girls cast member. Then Spider-Gwen came into the world and changed things up again, making her similar to her Ultimate comics self, but more modern. Idk I like her a lot.

Awesome video there... I admit, i never looked at it this way. I'm used to "good women are right, men wrong", so I always thought MJ is caught in the web of Peter's indecisiveness. But I did notice a couple of things that bugged me always : - When peter missed the play, MJ didn't even care about why he missed it. Come on, Peter got run over by a truck on his pathetic motorcycle, he wasn't even spidermanning. He could just as well have been paralyzed in a hospital bed and MJ would have called him saying "don't try anymore, you suck". - The Jameson dude looks like a douchebag... but he never acts as such. He's completely neutral, passive, stuff happens to him because he's just a nice piece of furniture for MJ. I always thought these were scriptwriting mistakes perhaps... but now you've opened my eyes !

I think she was at her worst in Spiderman 3. She made it all about herself and even resented Peter for being more popular than her. She treats peter as if he's working a 9-5 job doing overtime that doesnt give her enough time but in reality peter is doing a very important duty that she herself knew what it was and what she'd have to tolerate at the end of Spiderman 2. Peter barely made a move on her for close to a year, so Peter isn't that much entitled or call dibs on her. What Harry should have done tho is inform Peter that he has a thing for MJ as a good friend should do. Plus lets not judge their friendship too much, we have at one point fucked over our best friend once or twice in our lifetime. Which is why the topic of forgiveness is raised in Spiderman 3. If you have never had a disagreement or argument with your friend before. It means you arent real friends, you are probably "yes-men" to each other. If you can forgive your friend after a heated disagreement or argument it makes your friendship stronger.

In the books and the comics MJ WAS originally very supportive of Peter and very aware of her limitations. When Morlun's brothers and sister come looking for Spider-Man she doesn't panic when it looks like they're discovered. She had prepared emergency kits for the both of them since she knew this came with the territory. And she was the one that actually finished off Morticia before she could kill Peter. It is mostly in recent years, surprise surprise, that she's been turned into what she is now. That whole Paul thing, a blatant self insert if there ever was one, was for the me the final straw since SM for me was to Marvel what Batman is for DC.

Yeah you’re 100% correct. I never liked MJ in the movies, or comics. There is always some unnecessary drama with her. Another example is the insomniac games. MJ broke up with Peter because she got tired of his “overprotective attitude”. OK can you blame him? He experienced a terrible loss and she does get pretty reckless in a lot of situations. What’s even worse is that she kind of flirts with him even after they broke up. For crying out loud, MJ make up your mind! They should’ve been a chill couple in the first game and then get married in Spiderman 2. No ridiculous drama.

Technically she's not the real Mary Jane. She is Larry Jane. The Mary Jane Watson that I Know would never do such thing to Peter. I remember growing up and watching these movies. I always told everyone I hated MJ from the movies and no one understood why I hated her, even when I explained why. I felt she was always a toxic person and that Peter deserved better.

I guess that's because no one tries to look at the story from MJ's perspective or no one really sits down and looks just at the MJ portions of the trilogy. If they did that, they'd know how bad she is. But since literally every single character in the series treats her like she's some rare gem piece, a treasure (which i have no idea why- she's just a failed actress with literally no achievements and looks that are average at best), that's all the audience remembers too. And it's not just MJ. Almost everyone in Peter's life is awful to him if you just isolate their scenes and focus on just them and what they're saying to Peter in that scenario and context. Even Aunt May... when Peter says something like he feels responsible for Ben's death because he didn't stop the robber with the gun and literally cries to her, she just gets up and leaves like, "Why yes it IS your fault you little sh*t! Why didn't you step in front of the gun and get killed instead?" like WTF? From May's perspectives, Peter's just a kid. She didn't know that he's Spiderman so why is she expecting that he should have done what Uncle Ben tried to do? Also, even if it was his fault that the robber got away, how is it his fault that Ben died? That's just a crazy coincidence that a robber ran past Peter and killed Ben. How is she readily accepting the notion that Peter is the one responsible for Ben's death just based on that? Also even if she does believe it, really? You're just gonna get up and leave, letting your nephew feel like sh*t? No "It's okay Peter, you couldn't have known he's heading to kill Uncle Ben", or "Don't be silly, how could you be responsible for what that man did?" or nothing like that... Harry literally says "Yeah I know that you, my best friend, like her but I can only wait so much. You know I had to tap that a** at some point." Uncle Ben tried to guilt Peter into admitting that he was wrong for standing up against a bully... Holy sh*t, the more I think about this trilogy the less I feel like going back and watching it again.

Yes, actually Marvel has been doing that for years, not just with Joe Quesada, but Gerry Conway did kill Gwen also bc her relationship with Peter was growing really fast and if she did catch on then they'd have gotten married instead of Peter and MJ. Most of the editorial wants Peter to be relatable, but they believe him being married to MJ doesn't make him relatable. Thus, they wrote MJ like a bitch, especially the ones who hate her being with Peter. Zeb Wells hasn't tried much with PeterxBlackCat, but he did break him and MJ up on purpose for unwanted drama.
