What cards do you consider to be underrated? Also, what do you think about my list? 🤓
@masoompatel114 жыл бұрын
I like the US Bank Cash+ card. Any 5% cash back card with no AF is good in my mind especially if you can pick your own categories and spend up to $2000 each quarter. I’m typically trying to earn points , but cash back is nice to cover travel expenses you can’t cover with points such as activities/excursions, food and souvenirs.
@se7enzee4444 жыл бұрын
Your list is great. Get the card that suits you, not the cards that everyone is telling you to get. I'm one of the few that didn't get the Amex Gold card because I didn't like the dining credit.

I’ve been waiting for this video! It was a nice way to show love to other cards that are great alternatives for specific categories. What’s more worth it though for C1V- transferring points to partners or using the eraser tool? I’m a little confused!

The most underrated card in the world is the AMEX Centurion Card. In my opinion its by far the best starter card to exist.
@tristangirod18554 жыл бұрын
I know it’s a chase card but the chase IHG card with 89 dollar annual fee is a great bonus and keeper card me and my wife are both getting it to get a free hotel for 6-8 days in Paris at the end of the year
@masoompatel114 жыл бұрын
The Wells Fargo Propel card is underrated in my opinion. It’s basically a 3% cash back card on lots of popular categories like restaurants, travel, gas and streaming services without an AF. And you get cell phone protection.

1. Rakuten Card. MR earning bonus and works well with Schwab Platinum or Amex Gold Card. 2. PenFed Powercash. 2% back on non category spend if you have a checking account with them. No foreign transaction fees - makes it better than Citi DC as an international card. 3.US Bank Cash+ 4.Chase Ink Cash 5.Vantage West works on Costco and is a $0 AF 5% Cashback card.

5:12 Also, the Citi Double-Cash recently (Sept 2019) got rid of many of their benefits. No more; car rental insurance, trip cancellation/interruption/delay protection, travel accident insurance, lost baggage protection, price rewind, 90 return protection, roadside assistance dispatch, travel & emergency assistance. Basically it's now just a bare-bones 2% cash back card. Would NOT recommend for travel use.

Good point! Those benefits are definitely valuable, especially for travelers. 👍

I second the US Bank Altitude Reserve, I’m shocked no one really talks about it. I feel like it fills in the gap where Chase cards fall behind (Gas, Costco, Groceries, and everyday purchases) due to the power of mobile wallet.
@TripAstute4 жыл бұрын
It's a great card with a very lucrative bonus structure. Though I think it's a hard card to recommend since it seems so difficult to get. Also, I'm a bit skeptical of US Bank in the premium card space -- I'm actually going to address it in an upcoming video. 🤓

I have most the cards in this video. I think the citi double cash is a little overrated since citi took away most of the the benefits. I highly recommend either the sdfcu cash+ or penfed power cash. Both cards have no foreign transaction fees, no minimum redemption, and chip and pin capabilities, and no annual fee and give a flat 2 percent cash back. These are great extra cards to have if you live abroad or need an extra travel card with chip and pin.

Great recommendations! Thanks for sharing. I was thinking of applying for the PenFed card a few years ago, but decided on a different card. It's a strong card to have though! 👍

I'm thinking about getting the Capital One Venture card next! Just waiting to see if they come out with a new partner after this month. I do have the Amex Gold and Amex Blue Cash Everyday...seeing how I don't predict spending more than the breaking point, I am thinking about cancelling my Amex Gold if there is no retention offer. Did you end up keeping your Amex Gold?
@TripAstute4 жыл бұрын
I did cancel my Amex Gold. They offered a retention bonus of 10,000 MR points, but I honestly don't know if I would be able to use the incidental credits this year. It's still a great card, but just not a good fit for me at the moment.

@TripAstute4 жыл бұрын
I think it's a great card! I know some people say that it's an overrated card, but I think it can be a more strategic card to get, especially when someone is starting out in points and miles. I did a video a few months back on the topic 😉: kzbin.info/www/bejne/op3OoYOIj7aGiqs

can you apply for 1 credit card and 1 charge card through AMEX on the same day? Or will amex reject the application? Also do you know if they pull a soft or hard inquiry if you already have a card with them and account?
@TripAstute4 жыл бұрын
I generally don't recommend applying for multiple cards from the same issuer at the same time. I know some people have done it without any issues, but I still think it's risky. From the issuer's perspective, it can't be perceived in a positive way. In terms of soft vs hard inquiries, there doesn't seem to be a hard rule. I've heard examples of both actions. Though I always assume that it will be hard inquiry.
@orangeVSappel4 жыл бұрын
I know with Amex they don't do a hard pull if you already have a card with them. I've gotten 3 cards (gold, delta gold, amex everyday) with them after my first one (blue cash), and didn't have any hard pull.

If you don't have a bank account with US Bank and can do direct deposit, you can earn $400 bonus for opening a checking and savings accounts. They will more likely approve your credit application if you have a bank account with them. If you want more info about the bank bonus, check out doctorofcredit's site: www.doctorofcredit.com/best-bank-account-bonuses/#US_Bank_200_Checking_Bonus

Why everybody that shows how to get credit cards never explain, the credit score requirement
@TripAstute4 жыл бұрын
I've actually been working on a video on credit scores needed for popular cards. The confusing thing is that it's still very subjective (i.e., there are many factors that are considered when an issuer looks to approve you for credit). I know folks with 780+ scores that still get rejected because of other credit factors! 😬
@yankeesgiants2214 жыл бұрын
@@TripAstute I 100% agree: I've had the Venture for 9 years, which I got a year after college for my 2nd card. Lots of data points show that people with 800 credit scores getting denied for the Venture because they "don't carry a balance" as 1 reason. I guess once we are deep into our credit card journey, the Venture isn't for us 😣. Guess I'm glad I got it early
