Concerning horizontal stripes, my mother taught me that a well made striped garment has stripes matching at the side seam. I’m 79 and I have been seeing expensive clothing without matching side seams for several years. It’s a way manufactures save money. It says cheap, cheap to me. Some ladies say they never noticed that. How do you feel about this, Kaye? Donna

I’ve noticed that too. It’s annoying when the price of the clothing indicates matching stripes/seams should be expected.

I agree that good garments should have patterns matching up at the seams…most of the time. There are sometimes when it does not matter. But as a rule they should indeed match up. I think this is one of those things we should comment about when reviewing a product we have purchased. Most retailers solicit reviews so we should graciously point these sorts of things out when applicable.

I’m thinking about a skirt suit, when I was working I had several, always with some detail like a ruffle at hem or pleats to keep it feminine. But the idea of a shorter jacket with it to me updates it and could probably be worn with the wide legged pants also.

Great video! So much truth. One of my favorite ways to incorporate the trending colors are with a t-shirt. They're inexpensive and can be worn with jeans or shorts and with a Blazer or denim jacket over top. It's a good way to experiment to see if it's a color I want to incorporate more into my closet while I can find it in store. If it's a fail, I didn't break the bank.

A great video, I started wearing more pearls about a year ago. And I have purchased a drop pearl chain necklace and drop .pearl earring. Love this look and have received lots of compliments on my look. I purchased several pieces of gingham; the khaki dress, which I will wear for Easter and to a Luncheon. I also am wearing Black/white gingham pant, I love them and they can be elevated CC Casual as well as beach wear. I am wearing it tomorrow. Finally I purchased a bright citrus colored--apricot, aqua and white dress for a class reunion, a conference, and a long weekend at Sea Island with my college girl friends. I have done virtually nothing for two years and I am a little overwhelmed by all I have on my agenda. Finally I am planning a European Holiday for late summer. Some of these pieces will come in very handy. I loved your video in Travel clothes and I will shop my closet to pull some looks together.

I do love a well tailored skirt suit. They were a staple of my corporate wardrobe. Now that I'm retired, I got rid of all but one. I'm glad they trending again. I might pick one up this season. To me a skirt suit is the epitome of easy pull together outfits. A blouse or tee and you are ready to go. Thanks forvall the great advice as always.

Miss Kay .. : I just caught this particular video, and I have to say that your hair looks so great here ... it really looks good that way, frames and softens your face ( and I mean soften as in it has such a good affect with your features) . and the length and the style it just looks " happy" ,( is there such a thing.... With hair?! Lol)... it looks fun , young hair has shape and movement, no matter our chronological age ... my hairdresser told me that a long time ago when I used to live in Vegas and I went to a specific salon and she said: " young hair has shape and movement, no matter how old you are" . I think it's perfectly ok to change your style one day to the next. In fact it's great. Personally, sometimes I want to present as a fortune 500 CEO and the next day I am more in a warm colours bohemian mood and yet at other times I am all about saturated bright colours in a relaxed style. My limits are based on resources, not particular styles.

Great tips. I love a good wide leg pant and I finally found one that works for my current figure & not my “fantasy in my head figure”-😂. I found that at the Chico’s outlet. They are more like a trouser with a slightly wider leg that tapers just a bit with a bit of a cropped length. I am short, and an apple figure. The fabric is a nicer trouser fabric not billowy like a linen pant which also works for me if its a full length. It’s so true what you said about defining your personal style first is really the key to shopping and styling out your wardrobe. Also, knowing what is flattering for the body type. Periwinkle is one of my favorites to wear, just need to keep in mind the style and fabric choices! Love some of the new ginghams too.

Hahaha! I think it’s because for so many years older women were told that light purple is a good color for greying hair and fading skin color. And that’s true; it is. But we can of course wear lots of other colors too. And lavender is lovely. That’s just my personal hangup and I’m putting it aside. 😉

I have just bought a beautiful pair of print wide leg, high quality cotton trousers. They are mustard navy and cream. The print is fresh and modern but sophisticated too.They suit my body shape and I bought them knowing that they will go with fitted navy tops and tees that I own and cream cotton blazer...all great with my white sneakers or natural colour sandals. I got them on sale whilst travelling and love how I feel in this new look. They could also be dressed up with a silk top and heeled sandals. They are elasticated waist with attached tie belt. I tie belt at the side and not in middle of waist as its more flattering. Great video today. I think it's important to give some trends a go. Sometimes coming out of your comfort zone is inspiring. I feel different in this new outfit and new and modern. I am quite surprised how good I feel in them! I think the key is to make sure you already have neutrals to go with prints and they were such a great price for the quality it hasn't cost much to be a bit more adventurous. I like the gingham trend but so far not seen anything that I really like. Not sure about it. Love it on younger women when they wear flowy dresses chunky socks and ankle boots...but I'm not going there. Thanks again for your great videos...always so informative and interesting.

Narrow stripes make a ladder that brings the eye up and down and makes the body slimmer. Wide stripes make a fence and tends to make the eye go across making us appear wider. In all my years in retail I have seen this to be true. Stripes are awesome !

Still working on it, love wearing jeans but somehow feel like I’m dressing too young, so end up wearing slacks. I’ve scaled back to basic colors, black, white, navy, beige, tan, light blue and red, but get a little bored.

There is no reason why we can’t embrace a youthful aesthetic as opposed to looking ‘too young’. Embrace those jeans and add the colour. I like to mix it up with input from younger KZbinrs who will often include visuals of older women who break the style rules for their age and look gorgeous. I stopped following some older influencers who seem resigned to a certain style uniform which lacks creativity and individual expression.

Wear jeans they are timeless, just maybe not the skin tight kind. Wear colors that flatter your skin tone, don't limit to neutrals.
