My first full day in Mosul, was a long day so ive had to split it in 2! It was very shocking to see the devastation, there aren't really any words! But the People i met that were living there and the stories they told were chilling ,yet inspirational..and the women that are helping rebuild were absolutely amazing!!! This is a mind changing place to be for me .. , i had some great memories off camera too, like the conversation with the man that had 3 wives lo, they invited me into their home which was so nice, they were happy to see a tourist, everyone was happy to see a tourist! after part of this vlog i spent some of my last day with the guys from Mosul Heritage, which will be done soon! Mosul actually turned out to be the most expensive ....because i was told i had limited hotel options , which really is not the case.... next time i will stay in a more budget friendly place ( for a backpacker)

Thank you for filming the houses in the old town of Mosul. It used to be the most well preserved old town in Iraq in general. These are all listed buildings from the turn of the 19th century or older. So preserving their traditional architecture is crucial to the local heritage of the city and the country. It is great to see the rebuilding effort by UNESCO and the local people, especially the women. edit: the marble is alabaster, Mosul used to be known for its alabaster stone or marble.

Fun fact the church shown in the video is the Notre dame d’huer de mossoul. It’s history is linked to napoleon. Also mosul has countless churches 4 of which are rebuilt

Thank you Emma for the great vedios you're posting. You made me think of visiting after 26 years of being far from the country. I still remember looking through the car's back window at my house and neighborhood while asking myself "would I ever comeback?" So many years have passed and many nights when I put my head on the pillow i still think of my town until I fall asleep. Yes I’m pretty sure about that …. I left Scotland at 18 and lived in various places, latterly the last 22 years in USA brining up my kids …. Scottish people can pick up some of my accent ….
