Martinelli is a ferret, he keeps coming at you doens't stop. He must be frightening to play against. We have not had such an engine since Alexis Sanchez, simply relentless. But Jesus has been the addition that has made the diff. He has rubbed off immediately on everyone not least his younger Brazilian compatriot. That second goal was Jesus grafting and setting of Martinelli. The other thing is Arsenal now has a defense. Gabriel was a bit all over the place today (even if he made up partially with his dummy for the second)...but Saliba is a monster and so composed for his age. Tomiyasu also impressed playing on the left today out of position, had Salah mostly in his pocket. Remarkable. And Senor Blanco, how is he still not in the england squad? Southgate you're having a laugh. When you add Arsenal's midfield with Partey anchoring and then Xhaka and Odegaard adding threat (that assist from Odegaard), its exciting times. I watched every game that side played and it will always be my favorite arsenal team as I was a passionate teenager watching them lol BUT…I think this team is even better. That team had world class attacking midfielders and strikers. But the defense of the later Wenger years was never solid. We’d score 3 or 4 and still be anxious as fans because we could concede multiple goals in a matter of minutes. This team is solid across the board in a way that I haven’t seen since the mid 2000s. i understand the penalty but i was gutted not to get the draw (although that in itself speaks volumes). definitely hurt to let a game of such energy and ferocity be decided by a little touch in the box but oh well our defence is just a shambles though. this new 4231 isn’t doing it for me either, feels like we’re making salahs life as hard as possible. i hope joe gomez starts ahead of trent next game, tsimikas and thiago can drive the creativity and i feel like we’d be far more secure i suppose there’s always next year 😂

Salah is just not close enough in the final third. Also there is absolutely no way that your 4-2-3-1 can work without Fabinho. Either Henderson or Thiago goes on the bench. Though your front 4 caused us problems, the other 6 were abysmal without the ball for let's 60 minutes of 90. We had all the possible freedom in the build up.

@@aleksabenovic6046 yeah i would agree about the fabinho point but i think klopp is frustrated with him atm - he’s been sloppy on the ball and his pressing has been dire, he needs to get his act together so he can perform that ball winning role (with thiago as a mezalla driving creativity). i did think that thiago and henderson were good on the ball in the first half but henderson got put into some very odd positions in the second half. the situation at the top end of the pitch just feels undertrained honestly though. i thought nunez looked better than before but he was offside so many times - no-ones finishing is looking anywhere near sharp (except bobby) and diaz won’t be back until after the world cup apparently 😂 brilliant

City doesn’t actually have the same depth it used to. We used to be able to name two world class XIs from their squad. That second XI is thinner now they’ve let the likes of Jesus, Sterling and Zinchenko go. Also Arsenal squad depth is much improved. Still a big gap between the two teams but not as big.

The contact on Jesus actually prevented him from making contact with the ball. A clear pen. The issue with Martinelli v Man U was not whether it was a foul or not, it was the issue of ‘clear error’, fouls are almost always subjective and how many moves back in the build-up can VAR legitimately go? Offsides, handballs I have no problem with the use of VAR but fouls 3 passes back in the build-up are more problematic.

I am not referees but as I know “Intentional tackle/kicking that impacts directly on opponents’s foot is clearly fouls/penalties if inside the box. Gabriel handball was intentional because he thought Tiego would loft the ball and he just trying to block the view from him , but Tiego was intentionally loft the ball because he knew it would be penalized for handballs, and Gabriel already held up his hand before the ball coming out of Tiego foot, so Tiego was more of intentional framing Gabriel for handball which was turn off by VAR So, the penalty to Arsenal is correct because Jesus foot already placed the ball before Tiego tried to tackle it out

Remember when Salah was touched on the shoulder and went down, that was not a penalty and was given. This is clear contact in a goal scoring opportunity where Jesus was in a position to score with his next touch and was off balance and kicked, clear penalty, good decision.
