Grew up in the 90’s(Class of 96)fell in love in the 90’s...from that love, I learned the greatest love of all. My beautiful son, Kyle. He was so musically driven, loved music, all kinds. This song he heard for the first time on a trip to Panama City Beach when he was 13, I will never forget the way it effected him, I could feel his energy heighten...he wanted to hear it over & over. I was so fkn proud, proud that he knew what good music was. I lost Kyle on a Sunday morning January 21,2018...I died with him that day, I haven’t heard this song since his passing & it took me to my knees. Please people never miss a moment with the ones who mean the most... I don’t know how I have survived, Kyle’s strength is the only explanation to this. Here’s to the 90’s & all the beautiful moments we will never get back! For Kyle, keep rocking!!! Kyle David Strickland 06/17/97-1/21/18

Fayrie Wytch as I fell to my knees again while I suffered my 3rd Mother’s Day without my beautiful Kyle, I asked myself how do I keep surviving...HOW? It’s killing me, I died with my son... I am an empty shell until I die again. The broken that I suffer isn’t humane, no human being should be forced to wake up everyday so helpless, desperate and so incredibly defeated. It isn’t right, my son was too young to die, he did nothing to deserve such a fate, I have done nothing to deserve such a fate...strength is nothing I ever asked for, strength isn’t what it takes...it’s simply biology taking it’s course, my human existence eats, sleeps and survives...my soul & heart exist in 2 worlds, life is a challenge...everyday I fight for my sanity... every single day! 💔

One of my greatest sadnesses is never getting to see them play live, but I literally lived across the country as a teen (Florida). I've been blessed to see many other grunge bands, several of which have members who are now long deceased, and tons of other genre's shows too, but that's the one I really wish I'd been able to experience. This song, in particular, is very special to me. So much so, that I named my firstborn after it and they've gone on to love it as much as me.

I am blessed, so lucky to have grown up in Seattle at that time. It was EPIC

Oh Matt, you are so right. I was there, I was dating the drummer of Whiskey Fix and spent many a Saturday night in random basements listening to Alice in Chains, The Soundgarden dudes, Pearl Jam just jammin for fun at a party. You could go to the show for:$5 and a can of food to donate to the food bank. They were pizza delivery guys in a band hoping to get signed, passing out demos for free n shxt. Such a cool time, I'll never forget it. And yes, she was a stupid whore then too, couldn't stand Courtney "I just took a hit of acid, who wants to sleep with me tonight" Love. Yeah I guess it's safe to say we are feeling a bit nostalgic and melancholy for a period in our lives. I've come to a point in life where's it's become stagnant and stale. I miss waking up after lunch on any given day and rolling out my bed or couch or wherever to start the day. Life was ripe with possibilities and you were confident and comfortable that success was a given. Life and Time has other plans for us. Nothing hurts you more than time. I'm 51 now, and this country is juat a horrible shadow of what it once was. Frankly, I'm glad I'm on my way out. RIP Andy Wood / 80's & 90's USA.

Gen.Xr here, I agree it was a transformative time. I’m 50 and I clearly remember and have scars that remind me every day. I laugh at all the talk about millineums, Gen Z, and what ever else the title. Gen.X is about to take over politicaly, militarily, socially in this country. So they can talk all the shit they want, but facts is facts. Gen.X is next in line!✌🏽

yeah those times were special Todd, probably 2 years behind ya, it gives me the shivers remembering those days, but we plow on with what we have, looking pretty bleak with the media and honestly how evil the left has become, but it has looked bleak before, nothing you can do but plow onward and know they are not capable of the same determination.

God, being a music lover was SO much harder as a broke adolescent in the 90s! Pre-Napster, Pre-KZbin, Pre- Burnable CDs, Pre- Google...Sigh...I remember some songs were just IMPOSSIBLE to find, Like they were on soundtracks like this one, or they were B-sides, bootlegs, or weird compilations...I couldn't buy every CD that had a song I liked on it, so I just had to tape them off the radio or borrow them from my friends, make copies and mixtapes of their mixtapes...Compare to nowadays! It's incredible! Now it's super-easy but the music is super-shitty. I feel blessed by the incredible quality of the music that scored my early years. The "Singles" soundtrack was one of those I borrowed in 1994. Never did give it back.

Everything you said was true until the statement that nowadays music is super shitty. If you had the time I would invite you to search the internet because there are very good rock & roll bands out there. The regular radio stations are filled with nothing but money hungry people who don't care about talent but what sells. Yet, you have College Radio Station all over the country that is the perfect platform for new music as it was back in the days.

This soundtrack and the one for the original "The Crow" are the two ubiquitous Generation X soundtrack-albums. I've said it before; the soundtrack to Singles and The Crow are to Gen X-ers what Fleetwood Mac's Rumors, and Journey's Greatest Hits are to those who came up in the late 70's; EVERYONE had a copy of them in their record/CD collection. it was so common that there were times that people owned them, though could never remember actually buying them.

Childhood and teenage years are always easy when you look back on them as an adult, they certainly weren't easy for our parents. I was born in 1979 and I realize that society changed with smartphones because in the 90s even though there was already internet and cell phones most people weren't connected all the time nor was there the toxic content of these days. Now I look back on the 90s as something magical because of how the world was in that decade, everything was so great and the new millennium seemed like it was going to be better but now I'm in 2024 and I wouldn't hesitate to go back to the 90s again even as an adult.

Tragic to lose Wood so young. MLB started the grunge music scene, abd he never got to see how huge it became. From his passing we were blessed in one way; Temple of the Dog. A tribute to him, it is one of the best albums of all time. Since then we've lost so many more from that time. The music is eternal however, and we will always have that. RIP Wood, Staley, Starr, Cornell, Cobain and all the rest that blazed brightly and burned away much too fast.

This takes me back to a time of amazing and beautiful energy. There was great music coming into our space and there was a feeling of just simply existing in the moment. Floating from place to place, experimenting, living, loving and being loved were what we knew. Art met reality the most incredible way. Today I am a business professional. I dress differently, definitely more polished and ambitious, but I can sometimes run into someone who has that cool vibe about them. That energy helps us to connect and fly back to this era through music and soul. We cannot have this time back and the younger generations will never get it. That's alright, we'll all be okay. Peace and love to everyone from Houston, TX :-)

I bought this album right after he died. This was my fave song and remains so. It has something special that few songs achieve, something I can't name. Rest his soul.

I've spent the last couple months disecting all of the 90's rock and late 80's and its fucking amazing seeing the quality of rock and grunge in competition with one another but they bring the melodies together. long live seattle rock

The 90's was the most magical time for music, so many different genres of music coming of age, grunge, britpop, house, techno, industrial, hip hop, trip hop, jungle, drum and bass and so many more. So many great movies, so much culture and art. It was a great time to grow up.

As a teenager growing up 20 miles south of Seattle in the early 1990’s. Got to see a lot of good bands live. This is one I wish I would have been able to see. Mother love bone and green river were me and my friends introduction to grunge music. This is prior to nirvana, pearl jam, ect.

Quite sad today I'm soon turning 23 and cannot find anyone that knows this kind of music, it must have been really awesome in the 90s to meet many people aware of this. Today none and I mean none of my college peers know this 🌠

My daughter is 12 and her room is plastered with posters from the heavy metal and grunge eras. We love this song and often listen to it together. Took her to Seattle for her 12th bday and saw some sites where it all began. She thinks she's the only one, so glad to know their are other young fans out there
