Mother's Day for a Mother of 8 ║ Large Family Vlog

Our celebration of Mother's Day begins with our annual "Mother's Day Parade." Each of the kids brings me a flower in "their" color. After we open all the cards and some KZbin friend mail, it's time for church. (Our friends had to attend church elsewhere today, so we were alone this morning. They said it's always nice to attend "regular" church to be reminded why they love having home church with us.) After church our friends join us for a nice barbecue around the fire pit. We end the day with a trip to Home Depot where I pick up a few plants. (We left Thomas behind on accident!) We run into some friends there and have a nice visit before returning home to the realities of life with a large family.

Your words of wisdom on this video really hit home! I have slowly been dropping my expectations that my two boys (5 and 3) will conform to my ideals, and that my house will be magazine ready every day! Hi Andrea. I just wanted to say thank you so much for putting those words of wisdom in at the end of this video. I can't tell you how much they were words that were very well seasoned for where I am in my season of life because I am right where you are. Eight children and the Lord is teaching me exactly what you shared concerning that scripture you quoted. My focus needs to be on simply being diligent in all the ways of the Lord everyday and let him work to bring about the reaping in the harvest. It is truly a very blessed life to live peaceably with one another and in unity in the truths of Gods word. God bless you all and keep you as the apple of his eye.

I felt kinda sorry for Thomas, he looked truly crushed didn't he...almost as sorry as the dog when he didn't get to go. Aww... this video just warms my heart! I adore your children!! I especially liked your message at the end....as an elementary teacher I often feel like a surrogate mom and love my students as my own by the end of each year. It often feels as if I'm making no progress day to day but as I look back at the end of the year I suddenly see that the progress IS there. You are such a kind and inspiring person! Andrea, I am thoroughly enjoying you organizational skills and low stress demeanor. it has been encouraging to watch your videos and see your peaceful family. your children appear content and well loved. I have 4 girls of my own from ages 14 to 10 and we have all watched many of your videos together. I often hear them say, "that's what you do mommy!" or "you should try that!" I used to dress all my girls in a theme when they were younger and my friends would enjoy guessing it when we visited. so matching clothes is the one thing my girls do Not want me to do again. 😉 but I loved it! We live in Maine so it has also been fun to see the differences and similarities in landscape and climate/weather.

and Knuckles went first! Some people would look at your life and just see 8X the noise, mess, expense, exhaustion and say no way! But I look at your kiddos and see 8X the love! This may sound trite & clichéd, but only a mother's/parent's love could take a poop-tastrophe like little miss Sophia's accident in stride, and just do whatever it takes to get everything on an even keel, without flipping out about it and your biblical perspective there at the end says it much better than I could. Thank you for sharing with us, I'd much rather see reality like this than some sort of video depicting the person's life as perfect. Honesty is an elusive commodity nowadays!

I had a great time watching your mother's day, but your last words of wisdom spoke to me. I do love my children, but find that I often lack the patience I want to have. When you talked about getting rid of expectations I knew that is the problem with me. When I have cleaned or taught something to them and in the next minute it seems to have been undone, I lose it. Thank you so much for your words. I will continue to pray for God's help, but feel that he has helped me already by listening to your words and understanding why, now I can focus on fixing it.

Thank for the Bible verse at the end. I needed to hear that. Sometimes I wonder if my boys even listen. But I do see some seeds growing in them from time to time. And that makes my heart smile. Judah and Justus look very different to me, you can tell because Judah has more adult teeth and Justus has a younger face. I babysat two little girls who looked like twins if you didn't know better and they were also about two years apart. Always look at their teeth :)

One of them was Scotch Broom (Cytisus scoparius), which has been used for heart/circulatory conditions. The other was called Snowball Bush (Opulus viburnum). Medicinally it's known as Cramp Bark. It's useful for cramps, especially in smooth muscles. It's a common herb for menstrual cramps and aiding in birthing as well as other forms of muscle cramps. I dream of having a yard full of medicinal and edible plants, so when I discover something I can potentially use, I like to get it.
