The thing that always gets me about Jon Snow’s parentage situation is that Ned DIDN’T EVEN TELL CATELYN. Instead he kept the secret to himself even if it meant that his wife would hate him, or resent the child, or that the general public would think of him as dishonourable because it was better than risking letting the secret slip, endangering Jon.

The trial scene with the setting, the music, the building tension and the final explosion is my favorite scene from GOT. It's all the more incredible since clues to Cersei's plan had been placed during previous episodes. - Episode 6: at the beginning, Bran has multiple visions of the past and the future, and we see the wild fire spreading underground - Episode 8: when Jaime speaks to Edmure in the tent, he tells him Cersei would be ready to reduce cities to ashes for her children - Episode 8: Cersei and Qyburn discuss an "old rumor" that Qyburn's little birds confirmed, saying there was much more than they thought - Episode 9: Tyrion tells Daenerys that the Mad King had scattered caches of wild fire under several places in the city, including the sept of Balor

We were shown and told many times by various characters and through visions all throughout the seasons that the Mad King Aerys hid wildfire throughout the city. Qyburn and Cersei discussed a “rumor” about something, presumably the hidden wildfire, and Qyburn said it was “much much more” than a rumor. Thanks for another excellent reaction 😍 This was my favorite episode, particularly the opening sequence including the song “Light of the Seven”, an absolutely beautiful piece of music.
@herr_dohler11 ай бұрын
Amazing reaction, guys! Thank you. That said, I would like to clarify some things that might be confusing: 1. Jon Snow is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. Therefore, he is the dragon and the wolf (Targaryen AND Stark). Rahegar, his father, was the brother of Daenerys (The Mad King was their father). This means that Daenerys is Jon's aunt. 2. The wildfire that Cersei used to blow up the sept came from caches put across the city by the Mad King (As revealed in Jaime's bathtub scene with Brienne in s3ep5). The location of these caches was unknown to most people since Jaime never talked about it to anyone before Brienne. It is implied that Qyburn used Varys' former spies to discover this. Hence, the "rumor" he was talking about in a previous episode. 3. Book adaptations stopped somewhere in season 5, although some events from this season happened way earlier in the books.

This is probably still my favourite episode of the show. And Maester Aemon is actually Jon's great-grand uncle. Maester Aemon's younger brother was Aegon V (as Sam told us in S05E08). Aegon V's son was Jaehaerys II. Jaehaerys II's son was Aerys II, the Mad King. Aerys II's son was Rhaegar Targaryen.

Those chained books were called liber catenatus in Latin (Kettenbuch in German) and were common in medieval libraries until the Renaissance. They prevented books from being stolen or, in some cases, being dropped. Showing them here was a nice touch. However, AFAIK, chained books were usually kept in front of the reading desks for obvious reasons. Having to unchain them to take them anywhere would have been too difficult.

The wildfire that blew up the sept was placed underneath it by the mad king. Tyrion mentioned that he had caches or wildfire under key landmarks in the previous episode whilst talking to Danny. Cersei also asked Qyburn about “is that a rumour or more”. The rumour being, are there caches of wildfire underneath key landmarks. This was the conversation when she learned that trial by combat was no longer an option.

This is my favorite episode of the show: - starts with "Light of the Seven" which became instantly my favorite motif from the series and very little dialogue; what's there provides a backdrop for the music not the other way around - Aria makes a comeback to Westeros with a big entrance - the "King in the North" scene hits harder than the one with Rob (partially thanks to Lady Mormont) - the hundreds ships finale is epic closing take - some other great scenes - meeting in Dorne or naming Tyrion the Hand (again) Also, technically, though Targaryens themselves had other rules for succession - blood provided only right to be a claimant, with actual ruler elected by the virtue of other merits - by the purely hereditary rules introduced by Baratheon being currently in effect in Westeros, Jon is the rightful heir. After Rhaegar's death on the battlefield, his title of Aegon's heir passes to his children before his younger siblings - as Robert's crown passed to Joffrey, his illegitimacy being the only legal leg to stand on for Stannis.

I wish y’all could’ve gone to the Game of Thrones concert. The orchestra was amazing and Ramin did a brilliant job the entire show. The show was incredible and I wish they were still touring so y’all could go because I know yall would love it ❤

NO SPOILERS: Please no one say anything about future plot points, just at this point. At this point in the story you can make out that Daenerys is Jon's Aunt. Her older brother was known to have kidnapped Lyanna. Since he was the heir, it would technically make Jon the rightful heir except for the fact that his dad was married to another, so Jon is not a legitimate son. So they're still at around 50/50 rightfulness, one is a bastard and one is female but a direct line. In order for the show people to get the right to produce it and etc, they had to solve the infamous R + L = J. The author asked them, "who is Jon's mom" before he had written it, as there were several signs. And they correctly guessed Rhaegar + Lyanna = Jon. When this aired the cooler talk was like, does that make Jon immune to fire? Will he get a dragon to ride? And how the Targaryen at the wall wasn't alone, Jon was his family. And it helps you understand why Ned was so against killing Daenerys and Robert was all, "Any heir must die!!!" inside he was sweating like, "Omg Jon must never be found...."
@robertszilva130411 ай бұрын
we know, Lyanna Stark is his mother. Its not confirmed, but we can guess, Rhaegar is his father. All we know is, R kidnapped her, most likely possibly ra*ed her and let Arthur Dayne keep her in prison until the child is born. Thats what we know. Nothing about heirs, Jon is bastard, just not Neds...

i remember the first time i saw this episode and when IT BLOWS i totally shocked and have pause, i was in a friend house and i’ll go crying to him asking “it’s a dream or something?”, he started laugh and say to me “put on again ‘cause i wanna see your face” and re-start the episode, but on the first time i don’t watch the scene of Tommen and i revive all the fuckin trauma to start to cry again for Tommen and my friend literally hit the floor bc of the laugh he had for my face and my reaction, this episode will be forever iconic and to me the best of the show and best finale season

the wild fire under the sept was not from the batch tyrion was shown in season 2. those were being made specifically for the battle with stannis. several times in the show it has been mentioned that the mad king had planted wild fire throughout the city, to burn it all down as a last resort against invaders. that wild fire under the sept was put there by the mad king and that's what quyburn had discovered

Remember the story from Jamie about the Mad King , he placed wildfire under the places in the city ( including the Sept ) . That’s why it was under there

This is the episode that turned Cersei into GOTs Negan. The villan that you absolutely hate, but love at the same time. That had to be the most diabolical move I've ever seen.
@Cream-212811 ай бұрын
What lmao nobody liked her. I mean for me it just turned her into a villlain that they just gave plot armor and basically ruined the story.
@DavidCarradinesBelt10 ай бұрын
They ruined the show though. Cersei blew up the equivalent of the Vatican and no one batted an eye, they kept doing her dirty work and Jaime killed Aerys to prevent what Cersei did so what did he do? Nothing
