Why can't I use a tuned PID loop for a motion control?

Hi there ! We’re sorry if we gave you the impression that you can’t use PID control for motion systems. Using a tuned PID loop for motion control is a common practice, and in many cases, it can work quite well. The problem occurs with the response to the PID parameters. The video illustrates that typical PID responses, such as quarter-wave damping, are unsuitable for motion control. Therefore, the parameters are much different.
