I'm a beginner on rc jets and I tried 4 times to hand launch an f105 but I always ended up crashing it on takeoff. I did everything this guide told me to but it still rejects to fly. Any tips?

Pick up an AR636 receiver with SAFE, program it to a "like" type of plane from the Spektrum website and enjoy a hand tosser without the fear of it crashing after your hand toss. SAFE will keep the model level and the plane will fly right out of your hand without issue. Then when you get to a safe altitude switch SAFE off and now you have AS3X stabilization.. I've done it to several hand tossers and non hand tossers from most manufacturers including Motion with great luck!

@@M4rkmcc21 I think he is saying to load the settings from a plane that is similar to the one you are trying to set up with your Spektrum SAFE receiver so that you minimize the amount of programming and tweaking you need to do to get SAFE, coordination between ailerons and elevator, and other things like that set up to work the best with your plane. SAFE does require different tuning for different planes. Just popping an AR630 into a plane and turning SAFE on might work but it probably won’t be optimal for the plane. Also, you can buy an inexpensive programming cable to flash firmware to your Spektrum receivers. Many but not all SAFE receivers can be programmed with the Spektrum programming too. Do a little research before buying a receiver so that you know what you can and cannot do with it. Most BNF Basic RC planes have a receiver that’s been tuned to that plane. So if you have a high wing plane that is similar to an e-Flite Turbo Timber and you want to add a Spektrum receiver, download the firmware that is listed for the Turbo Timber for the receiver.

I program in a throttle elevator mix (50% elevator at 100% throttle) set on a switch. Full throttle, Throw with my right hand. When I have enough altitude I switch the mix off.

Recently did a will-call pick up at Motion RC for a Lippisch P.15, wow what a fun EDF and hand launch is easy at full throttle when CG is correct... :)

Lippisch is one of my favorites! She is crazy fast and sometimes I get disoriented if I don't keep my eyes on her at ALL times lol!

Right hand launch; Add some up elevator trim, hold Tx in left hand, add 3/4 throttle, toss edf jet with right hand and it starts a slow smooth gradual climb, trim as needed, smile from ear to ear cause flying is BOSS

For some reason I always throw with my right hand. And, yes 45 degrees is the key.

looks ok - but just in case here my personal list that adds a one or two extra points... 1 - test the grip on the plane at full throttle so you are sure you can actually hold it if the engine is running on full power! - sandpaper glued to the handle or fuselage can keep your hand / fingers from slipping during launch 2 - if its your first flight and the plane is not trimmed yet, let someone else do the throwing part 3 - ALWAYS launch right into the wind - no exceptions from this rule while hand launching - n-o-t e-v-e-r 4 - always launch at full throttle if its an EDF 5 - a positiv launch angle of 20-45° up sounds right to me 6 - throwing with your left is good but only if you have enough control to throw it straight, otherwise use your right arm 7 - a launch flight-mode with a few clicks of up trim is recommended to prevent nose dives 8 - a gyro or stabilizer can be very helpfull, specially if you throw with your right arm, it gives you more time to get on the sticks ...good luck and have fun at the field.

These are great tips! Every launch attempt I've done with my left has put the plane in the ground. it's not the 20-45 degrees. I have the damnedest time keeping the horizontal axis parallel to the ground and the plane doesn't get enough speed to recover before it's in the ground. Throwing with more force just leads to less control. No more money will be lost due to that!! I know now that I'm a right hand launcher only. Only did EFL BNF planes because of the SAFE Select. Now with Spektrum's Forward Programming, I've finally purchased a couple FW 64mm planes and put in SAFE Select so that I can remain a right hand launcher and be confident in my throws with force. I'll reserve the left hand for my prop planes which can be done underhand with less effort.

I'm right-handed, but I can't throw with my left hand without crashing the plane, so I always use my left hand to reach over to the right stick for control while launching with my right xD
