It's not the computer, it's the ancient software.
@Zerotwostudio Жыл бұрын
True that! I hope one of the senior dev has some guts to overhaul the software from ground up.

You don't need a super computer, just a super fast single core clock speed cpu, as much ram as you can afford, and the fastest hard drive you can get your hands on. Also nice GPU if you're doing 3d or gpu intensive plugins.

Working with top components and 128GB RAM myself, AE has the shittiest preview renderer in every software I've tried. Hope the devs someday fix it, but my hopes are really low.

Works fine for me, no video software plays back effects in real time at full quality. Have to do a 1frame skip at half res at least.@@RayBanda

@@aesonica depending on the complexity of the effects, everything may differ; if everything works well for you, it doesn't mean that it will work the same for him (I myself am sitting with 128 GB of RAM and top-end components, but I get constant errors in rendering, etc. due to overloading with effects)

Been working on my 13" 2021 MBP M1 16GB RAM 512GB storage for 2 years now. I purchased an extra1TB NVME for project files and caching. I don't also do a lot of 3D. But I use quite some camera, and vfx plugins, and Its been reliable enough for me and gets the job done. I tried to learn some basic 3D in blender and also works fine. But I'll probably get an extra machine that's intended mostly for rendering.

I like how in after effects even if you have 128gb it will say low memory. What a computer killer

informative but what do u think a super computer is... isn't it just what u described
@xradical89x Жыл бұрын
no super computer needed, just a super cpu, tons of quality ram and fast ssd drives. that's pretty much a super computer right there (whatever that means) maybe minus the gpu but still it would cost a lot of momey so in the end we still need a really really good, fast computer to work comfortably in ae.

You can really tell how shit is AE preview renderer when you try 3d software like Blender and specially Unreal...
@MotionScience Жыл бұрын
Blender and Unreal are built for 3D CGI. After Effects is not.
@RayBanda Жыл бұрын
@@MotionScienceIm not talking about AE managing 3D files... Just how terrible the preview renderer it is at managing what it specializes (2D) compared to other sofwares that can manage complex scenes such as Blender and UE (which obviously specialize in 3D) with little problem... In short words AE is kind of a shit software that badly needs an optimized preview renderer or effects revamp and I'm a AE user btw.

I think you shd change your video title bcoz it’s misleading. I thought you would be showing some tips to enhance performance. And also the config you sharing are the in top tier category & those are expensive.

I got an intel 13900K and AE is taking forever to render and preview, and it is showing only 57% of RAM, what's the deal here?
@MotionScience4 ай бұрын
Could be several factors contributing to the slow performance-number and size of layers, effects, etc. i would suggest looking at the composition profiler > render time in your timeline.

One of the BIGGEST problems PC users face when using ADOBE products is that they have configured their PCs for Gaming, which means they've likely installed a GAME-READY driver instead of a STUDIO driver and game-ready drivers are typically not compatible with (or optimized for) this type of software. So while cpu, gpu and ram might be beyond qualified to run these programs, their driver configurations are creating a bottleneck and actually choking the performance of the software creating an unmanageable workflow. That's something a lot of people who use NVIDIA products don't consider because they've built or configured their system for running 3D graphics but not for creating with tools that require precise computations and dedicated performance resources

Its not a myth. You need a fast computer and fast single core performance. True story. And i still use 2021 edition - because 2022 and 2023 are so bugged it drives me insane. Whats really more amazing is that the majority of people doesnt care about bugs and just want the latest version. But we all have very different standars. ALSO its so funny how Mac Pro users cant use the F keys which means they cant use the most easily available shortcuts :D Two of the people from my work with a Mac Pro M1 has severe performance issues still here in late 23 - seems weird.
