COMMENT: What is the best brand? Why do you love that brand?
@randyheiser53673 ай бұрын
@@jrproshop I won't say there is a best brand, but what works best for you. I have Hammer, Storm, Roto Grip. I want to try Motiv and Swag. I'd like a new ball but I want to get better with the ones I have.
@TheBowlingFool763 ай бұрын
My first ball back into bowling was a 3.0, although not partial to any one brand. So far I own Hammer, Motiv, Storm and Track. All the companies make a very high quality ball at this point.
@TrandafirRuby3 ай бұрын
I was originally throwing motiv when I first started. They don't make the cancer spare ball and the motiv experiments with coverstock started to shift in 2021-2023. So switched to storm and loved the core and coverstock combos while I get to keep throwing my spare ball. Plus storm is the one with the 2LS layout and didn't have any pro shops locally that did layouts so a lot more provided for 2 handers when I had to learn everything from scratch.

I recently switched to 13lb bowling balls and Motiv is the only brand that maintains the same core shape no.matter the weight.. SPI and Brunswick use a modified generic core f9r there lighter weight balls yet they still charge the same price for them
@LiamGlover-h9u3 ай бұрын
That is for a reason. At the lower density they perform very poorly with the large cores. The thinner cores make them lighter and maintain performance. I get what your saying but the generic cores are kinda better. That being said for Brunswick there are only 4 cores or so that come in 12-13 so you do get less variety. Also to just make more there is just not enough market for 12-13 to justify the change. There are some balls with a higher diff in that size though?
@ACommentFromYouTube2 ай бұрын
@@LiamGlover-h9unot enough market for 12-13? You should get to know more people because I know a lot of older, younger and female bowlers who do
@LiamGlover-h9u2 ай бұрын
@@ACommentFromKZbin there is a market but if we compare the amount of people throwing 12-13 to 14-15 it's a big difference.

One thing I’ve noticed about motiv is that their balls last forever. They have had issues with logo cracking but I’ve never had one crack yet. I’ve had a ton of storm balls and all of them after really about a year and a half die reaction wise. Motiv balls never seem to lose their pop. The oldest motiv ball I’ve got right now is almost 2 years old and it still hooks just as much as when I got it

Motiv is almost entirely made in Muskegon, Mi. Which is about 40 minutes from where I'm located. So I try and support local. They have great customer staff and support. And they look the best coming out of my hands.
@Charles13033Ай бұрын
I think they are also the only brand made 100% in the United States. Brunswick brands make a ton of their stuff outside the United States. Storm makes almost everything in the United States except their plastic and mix balls
@shawnpelley41292 ай бұрын
I started using motiv because they just look super cool and heard good things, haven't looked back since. Although a black widow will always be in my bag somewhere, I love motiv
@rogerredford62422 ай бұрын
I have the Forge and have improved my scoring by 10-20 pins. As long as I hit my mark the ball does exactly what I want it to do. Having the same core for any weight is a big plus. Bigger than that is their customer service which is as personal as you can get. The staff guides you to the ball that will work for your game with none of this corporate switching you from one extension to the other to talk to an answering service that never calls back. They make the customer feel important.

I'm a Senior and have been a Motiv fan for a long time; my first bowl was the Sigma Hybrid. I have the Evoke and Thrill Solid in arsenal. Thinking about the Liberty...great video
@itsgizmobtw3 ай бұрын
I recently switched to motiv. Reason for that is because i feel they react better to surface change. When i would hit my old phaze 2 with surface, it reacted somewhat differently for a few frames but eventually went right back to where it was before by the end of game 2. When i hit my shock with surface, i feel like it makes more of a difference and it stays like that throughout the entire night. Im sure everyone has different experiences, but thats what i was seeing and why i throw motiv now.
@_bigmatrix3 ай бұрын
Recently copped a venom shock and am happy with the reaction my own form is just inconsistent to have high scores with it. Motiv balls just have coverstock and rg/diff combos i feel are a better fit for me as a two hander.
@christopherakaninja38783 ай бұрын
Motiv is my go to brand. I have thrown equipment from just about every company but Motiv stood out amongst everything. Motiv to me is more consistent with the technology of the cores, and coverstock. Other reason why I love Motiv is because they don’t try to monopolize the industry. Everything is SPI from local pro shops to main sponsors for tournaments.
@CliftonDon743 ай бұрын
Thanks Jimoo! I may pickup another benchmark ball to try something different. My Phaze 2 has been pretty good so far. I have a Black Venom for transition. It is good, but the lanes need to more transitioned, like in 9 game tournament blocks.
@Erick-yl3zi3 ай бұрын
I've thrown Motiv exclusively since 2014, am not on staff nor am I a brand ambassador. Motiv compliments my game/style more than the other brands on the market and I have thrown them all (except SWAG). I would argue that the Subzero is not a benchmark ball, for me that will always be the Venom Shock. The Subzero will require surface adjustment in order to be more versatile versus the Shock which becomes more versatile with different layouts. The Subzero would be a step up from the Shock and then the Max Thrills a step down from the Shock. Now sport shot leagues your line up becomes very different. The Subzero would then be the middle ball in the bag with either the Raptor or the Ghost being the Big Ball and the Liberty or EXJ being the step downs depending on the conditions.

@jrproshop Hey I love watching this channel thank you for all of the content I have a question for Jimoo im looking to test the waters and switch to two handed im curious what a good two or three ball arsenal for a person just switching to two handed would be!

I bought a Supra Enzo when it came out. Changed nothing about my approach or swing at all and my avg went up 15 pins. I have since ONLY bought Motiv balls and am averaging 205 now. Maybe I got better, maybe it’s the balls themselves - I don’t know. But I know since using their equipment, I’ve gotten wayyyy better.

I don't love Motiv brand balls, but I like my Black Venom and hopefully, my Jackal Ghost once it's drilled. I'm typically a B7 guy (simply by accident). At least 98% of my balls are B7 brands. I love the looks of the Motiv balls, but I also love the looks of most of the B7 ones. I still need to try some Storm balls someday.

Definitely getting this ball I need something just a little more than the venom shock idk why but my speed just makes it go super straight and the layout isnt super strong or super weak so I'm probably going to get this ball

Motiv guy here. I enjoy the fact that the covers aren't as strong as Storm. I feel they hold up their reaction longer once you bowl a few games and then can easily keep up surface adjustments. I don't like how all of Storms covers are so strong and angular. I have a balanced game with little over 450 revs and 16-17mph on screen. Motiv covers take care of my misses, last longer and help me with my game for sure.
@Charles13033Ай бұрын
Motiv actually has been making the most angular balls lately. There was a chart I saw the other day of all the balls backend hook rating and all that for the last year or so and motiv balls were the top 3. And they had like 6 of the top 10 storm only had one or 2 in the top 10
@Bloodth3ButcherАй бұрын
@Charles13033 Angular doesn't mean strong in bowling. Also, they have definitely improved greatly even just from the Sky Raptor to the new Rush, but stronger covers are in Storm. Motiv doesn't make anything as strong as a Gem that still has backend. Why the Ambush didn't stick around long imo. I feel that the Ghost is the best option for that spot rn. I'm sure Motiv will come up with something great, but I don't want a Gem. I can't use it. Even on Sport 😅
@Charles13033Ай бұрын
@ idk man that new ice forge looks like it starts reading the lane at 20 feet. I’ve seen people hook the lane with gems on dry lanes. You can’t do that with really strong balls cause they roll out. Gem is still really angular for a strong ball
@Bloodth3ButcherАй бұрын
@Charles13033 No it's not Angular hahaha. On house shot it is. Simo uses it for its control when he moves left. The Subzero was a great addition. I used the Ember for a while for control on long patterns and it's a def upgrade, but it's not an Asym. It's not supposed to lock up. That Subzero is going to be good for a while, but if you watch Andersons video on the Subzero with too much surface it's like that for a reason. It's not meant to be Angular and that's okay. Early and smooth. I also don't think the strongest covers mean the best bowling balls as well. I think Motiv is better because even with weaker covers, they hold up for longer than Storm.
@Charles13033Ай бұрын
@ idk man I got an evoke and it seems way stronger than a gem. I’ve tried a gem before and it was throwable. I can’t ever usually throw my evoke the thing hooks 30 feet down the lane and rolls out

I like my Motiv equipment, I bought SPI many times before. But their equipment didn't work well with me. And a lot of SPI staffers are really full of themselves. And I've also been looking at some B7 brands.

Honestly, when it comes to brands for me, if the ball performs well when I throw it I'm happy. But I have thrown some balls from certain brands that when I threw them, they didn't perform to what I was expecting. Hammer is definitely not my favorite. I'm more of a fan of balls from the Storm umbrella. I pretty much have a ball from every brand.

I am a big Roto Grip fan, but thats because I am slow to try new things. I now throw majority storm balls. I know its the same company, just different names. A decade ago, I was a gigantic DV8 fan with their muarader and nightmare line, just fell out of liking with them.
