I use the Primal Rage 5 Year LE to this day, and have since its release in 2018 while bowling in high school. and I remember telling my dad (who also loves this ball since he used it for about a year) that I'd 100% buy a Primal Rage if they ever made a 10th year edition. Looks like him and I have this as our next ball purchase guaranteed.

I has a used og rage 6 years ago when I started. Loved that ball. This one may get me.

Luke….this is good stuff! I’m really looking forward to grabbing it as my early Christmas present to myself.

Wow! Pulling out an old Justin Wyman video. Very nice. I believe he travels with the Tour now. The Rage almost reminds me more of the Wolverine than the HyRoad. The Primal Rage seemed to be the ball that really put Motiv on the map as I believe Jake Peters used it to win his first national title. Think you could have both the Evo and the Rush in the bag as when the Rush is a little too early, you can jump right into the Rage and open the angles up a bit.

So! You seem to be liking this new evolution quite a bit! do you think it’s worth a shot! I’m in between this and the raptor rush!

Get both lol

I was just a super big fan of the original, so I'm at least excited to try it.

I’m sure it’ll be fine, but my head is struggling with having such a high RG core inside a cover that wants to do the exact same thing (go long and explode). It sounds like knocking the shine off of this one isn’t going to be optional. Unless there’s something I’m missing?
@LukeRosdahl2 ай бұрын
The original never did, and Motiv stuff in general is heavier rolling and smoother to begin with, so even a shiny flippy ball for Motiv isn't really that flippy or crazy. I'd try it with the shine on it before I'd change it at least.
@remington14392 ай бұрын
Yeah that’s the same thing I’m thinking WHY is the RG is @ 2.55 but with the rush @ 0.248 is the ball I like. I did have two of the primal and loved them. I have 6 Motiv balls not including when my rush is delivered, to me as Luke said the rush reminds me of the OG Primal. Thanks primaljackel for how you put it.

Regarding knocking the shine off, I am told this ball is not polished, it is a shiny surface achieved by a series of micro pads up to 5K. The Rush is also this way. So far, nosing around the net, I can find no chart with a complete listing of what pads and in what order,
@LukeRosdahl2 ай бұрын
This one is actually polished, 5500 lsp which is laser scan polished. The Rush is the one that's 5000 lss, which is laser scan sanded, so the Evolution is actually polished, while the Rush is just a very high grit sanding. I don't know what the sanding process is for Motiv stuff though.

@LukeRosdahl you're right, and I must've got some bad info from a usually reliable source. Appreciate you answering back!

I'm not the brightest bulb, so if this sounds dumb please forgive me. I bought the Evoke, love it. So I bought the Subzero to go with it. Love it. One asym one sym.. I just put in my order for this ball, what would be a good Motiv asym to go with it? I have my Hammer arsenal built, now I'm trying to put together a Motiv arsenal. So far as mentioned, Subzero, Evoke plus the Venom Shock and Yellowjacket. I'm adding this ball, and I would like one more that would be good with this set up. Revs 290-325 Speed 17-19. I stand on 15-17 roll up 8-10 board. I don't actually target just the dots or arrows, though I use arrows as part of my three point targeting, I mainly look up lane at the break point of the pattern.. Avg 220ish. I bowl at two Houses. Both leagues and tourneys pretty consistantly, at least two tourneys a month, if not more. It's weird my Hammer setup works amazing on one House, and what I have so far in Motiv works amazing at the other House. I've tried to mix and match, but maybe it's in my mind only, but I can't seem to put together a bag that uses both brands effectively. I've been told I need a "heavy oil" ball in Motiv, but frankly my Subzero or Evoke both have been fine on tourney patterns so far. I'm clueless. Thanks Luke, your vids are always great.
@LukeRosdahl2 ай бұрын
Lol the Evoke and Subzero are definitely heavy oil balls . . but for a clean and sharp Motiv asym, that'd be the Crimson Jackal for sure. It's not really weird to use different stuff at different houses, I actually use Storm stuff at a super high friction house in KC, but use the B7 stuff when there's more oil. Motiv stuff is generally earlier and smoother than most other companies, so early and smooth might work at one house and clean and sharp might work at the other.

@@LukeRosdahl Thanks Luke. I will look at the Jackal. Great advice as usual.

I always wondered how Motiv was allowed to have a ball called the Primal Rage in the first place. Columbia released a ball called the Primal Rage (which was also bright red) in 1997, following the Rage and Outrage.
@LukeRosdahl2 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think there's a certain time period that has to go by on that, and I'm not really sure that ball names get trademarked anyway.
@enigmazero86242 ай бұрын
There must be some degree of protection. Like I can’t imagine Storm could release a ball called the Zone, or anything like that.
@LukeRosdahl2 ай бұрын
I'm not sure, I think they could, but I don't think they'd want to. There have been some other balls that have had the same name or similar names to balls in the past too. Track had a ball called the Thrash, and so did Motiv.
@enigmazero86242 ай бұрын
Interesting. I wonder if any companies besides Motiv steal names from each other?
@LukeRosdahl2 ай бұрын
I don't know that it's that big of a deal, there's only so many colors, so many names, etc., and with covers having names, cores having names, balls having names, it's just too much to avoid some kind of overlap somewhere.
