For modellers in HO in all prototypes or English 4mm scale 00: Your MPD is ready to use as you buy it.
For all EM and P4 modellers, because the “rails” of MPD are extremely fine, they are easily reduced by approximately 1mm each with a long straight mill-cut file.
The guide rails built into the extrusion under MPD are placed there mainly for you by the way… as they easily and firmly “clip” onto the outside of EM or P4 track with the help of a very slight flexing of the end caps, giving you a very stable platform.
MPD can even help you with servicing! The protective moulded foam top is lined with velvet and capped with closed cell foam inside to protect your locos and it makes the perfect servicing cradle.
Drive you locomotive into MPD, add the protective top cap and then turn it upside down… and your loco is ready for wheel-cleaning and oiling! When you are finished… just add the MPD “rail structure” back while it is still upside down, flip it upright again and it is ready to drive off once more!

Appear to be good quality item ranging from £50-£70 currently. Therefore, one is likely only to purchase 1 or 2 for shows, could not afford to get one for every locomotive in my collection 😢

They are ideal for moving locomotives or trains to and from clubs and exhibitions, but need not be used for storing everything at home if you have track space or even shelving for the items.

What actually stops the loco from moving back and forth inside the cradle during transport or if the box is accidentally dropped ??

The foam blocks, visible at around 1:28, which are pushed up to the front and back of the loco.

@@JenniferEKirk Okay. It would have been good to clearly see them be removed from the cradle when the loco was first put on the track in the opening sequence...

I have EM gauge models, so what about differing gauges, O, HO, OO, EM, P4, N, etc, using the Depot?

The edges of the Aluminium are designed to be easily filed out to EM or P4 with careful use of a file.

Made me laugh spend all that money on a loco lift and protection box, only to put it loose on the cars back seat . Nothing to stop it flying off the seat and around the car in a sudden stop !
