Mr. Mars is absolutely brilliant, can't believe he's still around, disease and all. The man rocks harder than most... and that full sound with only one git is amazing. Very very underrated player. I'd say no other player could carry this band. Looking forward to see him on tour this year

Fucking A ....im 62 and the dude still kicks ass playing ....fucking amazing guitar player. I met Tommy and P.A. once in Malibu ...they come riding up to Paradise Cove where a group of us was eating lunch. Both were wasted drunk...Tommy gave me his autograph signed on the cocktail napkin. When they left he fell over trying to start a yellow Harley chopper....and two of us helped him get the bike up.....and hold it till he got it started. What a dude.

At 70, I'm more of a Jeff Beck fan - but these guys just played at the NFL draft here in Kansas City, MO (my home turf) a couple of weeks ago and I was curious to see their show. Lo and behold, I discovered John 5 (John Lowery). Holy cow! I have to say, I had NEVER heard of him before and I have to say, he acquitted himself quite well - precise, effortless, spot on and definitely can shred. Pleasant surprise to find new artists! Super humble, modest and has some great stories. I daresay he is more than capable of shouldering the load. His best advice to ANY guitarist? Play what you love.

You mean the computer playback is carrying them. I love Crue, but there is a LOT going in this on that no one is actually playing live. You can hear other guitars sustaining when Mick is hitting the whammy bar at the ends of phrases. Then if you look at 3:27 Mick is just playing the pedal on the A string even though you hear the chorus riff. His left hand is adjusting something around his face...yet there is the riff (Which is a series of 4ths on the D and G Strings).
@matthewroreilly5 жыл бұрын
composerdave68 also might use a loop pedal sometimes to make it sound more full( like doubling the riffs or playing licks throughout) ? I mean I’ve drummed for many bands and had guitarist do that, and probably were half as good as mick

If everyone believes Mick is underrated, that defeats the purpose of something or someone being underrated because everyone acknowledges and loves Mick's guitar playing. That makes him very well known and well appointed. I consider him one of the king guitarists of our world. Even when crue would make a bad song, mick's guitar playing would always make it better.

Many DON'T know that Mick Mars has a very serious back disease he has been fighting since his teen years. It's absolutely AMAZING he is STILL able to get on stage. In Fact, I don't know how he does it. And BEFORE somebody makes a wisecrack, NO medicine will stop the pain he is going through. I am speaking from experience! I would love to sit down and talk to him about his condition. I want to know his secret so I can apply it to myself! However he is doing it, I applaud him for doing so! Mick is lucky to be alive, Vince, well he is Vince, and Tommy Lee I don't think will ever stop being a kid! He is in damm good shape and can still bang those drums like he did in the 80's. Bottom Line, I LOVE Motley Crue
@LiPo50006 жыл бұрын
Troy Staunton, do you or are you aware of Mick's condition? I don't have a situation quite as bad, but it will dam sure keep you down, limited activites only, unless you want to try and break through the pain, which is not going to happen, even with medicine! I have to keep myself from being a recluse, I just suffer the pain. I have to plan everything I do to make sure my main objective happens, then count on 2 to 3 days in bed recovering! It really sucks, my brother is in the same condition, hereditary, just like Mick's condition which is "by medical statements" is worse vs. what I have. I am amazed Mick was able to tour for 18 months. It's has to be a major PIA just to get on stage! Plus have his guitar strapped to his shoulder for several hours. I don't care if he was on meds, when the Sciatic Nerve is involved, no med's work!!!! I am posting so maybe I can learn something, plus Mick is an inspiration to me, and I am damn proud he finished the tour! His condition is one reason the band signed the contract making it their last tour, ever! I believe also Mick is in his upper 60's. I am pretty sure he is the oldest in the group! I can't imagine living with his disease since he was a teenager, he might have been in grade school, but it definetly was diagnosed during his school years. I have studied up on it a little just trying to understand my condition and his! Hereditary diseases SUCKS!

no idea how to spell it but he has ankilosing spondilitus or however it's spelled.
@LiPo50005 жыл бұрын
wildcat, Mick Mars suffers from ankylosing spondylitis -- a type of chronic arthritis that affects the bones, joints and the base of the spine. He was diagnosed with this horrible disease while still in school, Jr. Hi. I believe! It's very painful, and I applaud him for making it on stage. I am sure adrenaline plays a part during the concerts! It's HELL inheriting a family disease thats "just" in your genes! I definetly wasn't ready for my condition, nor was my other close family members who are also affected.
@ScottPA59725 жыл бұрын
This is from the wikipedia page on Mick Mars about his condition "For most of his professional career, Deal has openly struggled with ankylosing spondylitis,[8] a chronic, inflammatory form of arthritis that mainly affects the spine and pelvis. It was initially diagnosed when he was 17 years old and has increasingly impaired his movement that has caused him pain. This led to hip-replacement surgery at the end of 2004.[9] Over the years, the illness has caused his lower spine to seize up and freeze completely solid, "...causing scoliosis in [his] back and squashing [him] further down and forward until [he] was a full three inches (7.6 cm) shorter than [he] was in high school". Nearly 70 years old now.
