This is the kind of balanced and fair smartphone commentary we need these days. It's so easy to just go along with the trend and just bash companies like Motorola and LG for whatever they do. Every product should get a nuanced discussion like this irrespective of the brand because as you say - competition is healthy. Good job.

I currently own a Motorola One Zoom and i must say Motorola knows how to build good quality phones. I'd rather prefer a Motorola with near-stock Android than any other Chinese OEM with tons of bloatware. Add to the fact that they use inferior materials.

Motorola and lenovo are the same and they are chinese owned..maybe other brands are making more affordable devices with high specs to give buyers a bang for the buck experience..motorola is proced higher compared to others

A great review! This phone is actually very good, of course with some shortcomings that's a bummer. Flagships are getting more interesting than ever before this year. Now what's left is the Xperia 1 II.

They didn't get it certified but I've taking all my Moto into the shower to play music all of them have ended at the bottom never a issue . Plus with the teardown I've seen it should be good

If they made the battery replacable I would have forgiven the no IP rating, but as is, there is no reason why it isn't certified. Maybe R&D is just that expensive?

Motorola is just rusty like mr. mobile said. If this was samsung it definitely would not be acceptable for $999 but since motorola is atleast trying I think they did well. There is a lot on the table from this device I'm most impressed with it unlike the razr which is a hot mess. Only issue I see is selling this will be tough since one plus exists and offers some better features for less money. All in all a solid attempt from this company if they keep this pace up then they will be a contender again as they once where but only if they brush up on their practice.

Moto made the curved edge a little more functional than its predecessor, as how Tim Schofield demonstrated on his channel. You can use it to scroll up and down the app drawer and shade, triggers for games and gesture button without needing to swipe left or right. These (other than the other cool features Motorola up its sleeves) made me want to wait for it to be released here in the Philippines, just the regular Edge though, 25% less expensive with SD765G (5G future proof), just 64MP cam (not into photography though, so it doesn't matter to me), and has a shared SD card slot (which very important for me, other than good screen and stereo speakers).

on some devices, when you shoot a super-high resolution video it just crops the sensor instead of oversampling due to limit in computer power. I guess this bad quality is because we are watching a cropped 6k image out of the 108mpx sensor

4:10 Samsung hasn’t abandoned curved displays. The S20 Ultra still has a curved display, is just very, very minimal, but it’s still there and you can see it.

edge displays are great for FPS games, you can place the shoot and aim button on edge giving you a perfect spot for triggers

the Indian release solve 2 of the issues, 1. A nice looking case is packed along so no more wobble 2. not a single bloatware, just the clean android with only one app from moto for customisation. 3. for Camera I think it will get even better with software updates.

When Samsung released curved screen, people say meh. Then other companies follow. Have been using curve screen for almost 3 years, I am happy with it. Btw, the charging speed is too year 2016-2017 standard.

While it is definitely hit or miss with the palm rejection for users I will say for me as of now it's shockingly good. Like I have had ZERO miss fires and I have been using this hard core the last week. What is so shocking about this is I have more issues with my secondary S20 ultra and that has a flat display all things considered and this nearly 90° curved screen doesn't seem to know my hand it ever touching it, it's amazing.

So i enjoyed the review itself. Hit all the points. It pointed out some of the flaws. Im just beside myself this device doesnt support Quick charge or Power delivery. This might have been less of issue if the usage you got out of it was much longer. That chare time too is crazy. Let that battery degrade a bit and put some better fast charge on there.

IKR hahaha. Might as well go for Midrange smartphones like the Realme 6i.. It has a 5,000mah battery as well and does have FAST CHARGING.. Costs only $200. But has 4gb of RAM and 128gb of Internal Storage only. And it's processor is just Mediatek Helio G80..

This phone is awesome! I love it. As far as the camera if you know how to use a camera properly and use the manual features and it'll out shoot any phone. Table waddle? B.S.! I just took the case off my edge plus and it did not "waddle" that bad. Besides, who uses their phone that way? 🤷🏽‍♂️ This guy like most reviewers seems to be biased.

Motorola should always be noted for having some of the most durable phones out there regardless of its water rating. These phones are used and preferred by trucking workers who collar workers anyone gets dirty works hard drops their phones occasionally these phones taking me and work like nothing happened for years
