22:15 as Marques mentioned the market it is primarily targeted towards is India and NFC payments are not a thing here, we have UPI (scan a QR code > enter pin > payment done) so NFC is not required here so it is a pretty sweet device which looks gorgeous. Anutosh touched upon the point of UPI. 25:01
@deepakbisht49574 ай бұрын
True primary target is UPI as you only need QR Code that you can put that thing as a sticker or even in your phone gallery and you don't need any hardware for card swipe, dip or tap to pay. But I mostly use Samsung's Tap to Pay as most of the cafes, coffee house and grocery shows have swiping machine and Samsung tap to pay does payment in just one tap... So it comes handy for me instead of opening Upi app first, then Scanning Qr code and then enter pin and all. I know these takes just 30 seconds and it's easy to done but tap to pay using nfc is faster. I mostly use QR code based upi in small shops and it's a game changer as everyone has upi option and I don't need to carry wallet and cash. I just need my phone woth 20 percent battery and I can do anywhere in India without facing any problem...

Regarding infinity display and edges: S6 edge had the curve on both sides, it didn't start with the S8. On the other hand, the S8 (alongside the LG G6) had the display nearing the top and bottom edges (before moving the front-facing camera to the inside of the screen with the S10 which enabled them to actually "reach" the edges), which is why they called it infinity display.

Note! NFC on Android phones with quick/nearby share can be used to quickly turn on device visibility Explanation: You want to send a photo through quick share, you turn on Bluetooth, location and all that, but your friend doesn't have any of that enabled (he just might not care), so you can tap two phones back to back and your friend gets the "choose who to be visible to" dialog to pop up on their phone.

I think that for 90% of the population, batteries only need to last one day if they are charged habitually at bedtime. Therefore, choosing light and thin (pocketable or easy to carry in a bag) makes your life easier every moment of the day, inconveniencing you only in creating a charging habit at bedtime. Those people I know who don’t charge every night, are the people who have to panic charge their phone at some random moment during the day (my wife and kids and most of my staff) or carry chargers with them. That won’t be fixed by batteries that last slightly longer than one day. The rest of us will still charge our phones at bedtime and have a full battery in the morning, and they’ll still- at some point during the day- run out of juice, just maybe at a different point in the day because they have slightly longer runtime.

In fairness, when it comes to tablets, thinner and lighter matters a bit more. My Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is like 5mm thick, and as a result, it's still kinda usable handheld despite its ~15 inch screen. Mind you I got that size to use it primarily like a laptop/monitor and it's infrequent I actually use it handheld rather than tabletop, but the fact it's only like a pound and a half makes it a lot more usable handheld than if it were a couple mm thicker and weighed 2 pounds. I am from India, but living in the US right now and so yeah i think Zelle is pretty much what UPI is trying to do. The only difference I can see is UPI is more "open source protocol" whereas Zelle is owned by (i think) chase? So the protocol for zelle is closed source and they have a monopoly over the protocol. HOWEVER, I do find NFC far better because 1) UPI doesn't work with Credit Card...you need NFC Tap to Pay for that 2) If you have NFC Tap to Pay for credit card, may as well have it for phones too! Simplify everything instead of having so many different protocols 3) NFC is slightly faster than scanning a QR Code (which UPI relies on for merchant payments)

All you need is sticker of Qr code. If you are talking about credit card then there is rupay credit card that upi supports. I don't know why UPI is nkt supporting Visa and Master card. Maybe because Rupay is indian...

On the "Infinity Display" bit... I believe the Note Edge and the S6 "Edge" and the S7 "Edge" were just plain "Edge" displays. The "INFINITY" part for the S8/S8+ came because of the rounded corners around the screen and the fact that the top and bottom bezels got reduced by a bunch (they removed the SAMSUNG branding on the forehead and the physical home button for the first time), making the screen experience a lot more immersive and seeming "infinite".

@@RealWorldReview I both agree and disagree with the topics Rossman said. Brownlee has stated that if he was to only use one phone, he would prefer Android over iphone. However, testing "all" phones comes down to his job as a reviewer. I doubt Brownlee signed an NDA-equivalent for reviews. Apple even used one of Brownlee's quotes in marketing affairs, and Brownlee did not like that, but it was public knowledge at that point. I digress. It would have been nice to hear a 1-minute mention of Rossman in the lengthy video cast because I enjoy channel crossovers. Thanks for your reply.

@@ninjanerdstudent6937 ah yes I mean NDA for the interviews. Sure, creators are seeded review samples, but most people have the integrity to review with not just lie or side with the company in hopes they can get more products in the future. I was under the impression Louis was focused on reviewers talking to companies though, not how they review products. I mean the video with Tim Apple was rushed at the end it just felt like a critical question was cut. That and the content is why people think that there’s something off there. As for reviews, no one is gonna side with a company to stay on good terms. Just like most 2mil+ creators, people are gonna watch even if you’re late or on time

The biggest upgrade to the Z Flip 6. In my opinion is the new 50mp main camera module that has the semi optical zoom. Having that camera flexibility is clutch.

I feel like the infinity display wasn't really about the edge screen, they had just removed the physical home button and made the display much taller (less top and bottom bezels too) so the front of the phone felt almost like all screen for the first time. The edges were part of the aesthetic but not the main thing

As much as I value battery life, I do really prefer thinner phones. I miss the Galaxy Note 10 generation thinness, it felt great to hold and was so much lighter in my pocket. Modern battery life is great but the phones weigh a ton and are a lot less pleasurable to hold and look at. I do hope Apple brings back thinner model iPhones.

With the ring, can we see if you need your Samsung phone with you at all times? Or can the ring told data and sync when it comes in contact with the phone again. Plus connections with Strava and Whoop would be awesome!

For the knob on the case, I can see that. At my job, I spend a lot of time in "headphone" activities, doing things I don't need to interact with anyone. I usually leave my phone at my desk and wear my headphones as I wander our warehouse (about 5000 square feet). If the case is half, or a quarter of the weight of my Note 10 plus (don't shame me, it still works like a champ), I'd be giddy about it. My earphones are a pain to adjust volume on, so this would be cool.

Okay so about the indian market. We really don't need nfc here. I've been buying phones with nfc for 10 years and I hardly ever use it. Although the mobile payment method is huge in india, it's actually biggest in the world, but for that purpose we use something called UPI which basically use the camera to scan the QR code sticker and that QR code contains all the details of the business owner account and all you have to do is allow payment.

I'm sure nobody is gonna read these huge paragraphs that I wrote but I'm doing my part.

And the beautiful part about this payment method is that you don't need "expensive"(yes it can be expensive for some) card machine to digitally accept payments. You can just stick qr code sticker and you are good to go. When you do a successful payment your phone make a particular sound to let the shopkeeper know a payment has been made and you can show him your ''payment done screen'' (don't know what to call it) or he can just check his phone and his phone will also make a particular sound and optionally can announce the amount paid. Alternatively or commonly these digital wallets provide a small bluetooth speaker to business owners it has qr code over it, you just scan it, pay and the speaker will announce the amount so the shopkeeper doesn't even have to lift his gaze to check the payment. Yes I'm bored right now thank you.

You can even find some homeless people asking for money with a qr code printed on a paper.

I'd love to know how to Galaxy Ring works with a Pixel. Not a fan of watches (especially for sleeping) and just want a sleep, heart and step tracker.

The Indian and Chinese (primarily Asian) markets use a QR code based payments service and do not "MOSTLY" need NFC. So not a huge miss I guess.

Did you guys forgot about the Gear sport in 2018? This is just a better one from that. That squircle design is not even close to that Apple watch ultra. Plus, Apple copied the naming of the "ultra" which Samsung used it first. So what im talking about is... they copy each other so i don't mind which influenced it or not.
@basileldho98464 ай бұрын
23:00 NFC is not a big thing in India because we already have a different digital payment mechanism called UPI. It works through scanning QR codes. Every store and street vendor has it. So it's not that big of a miss, especially if payments is the only thing you plan to use it for.
