Yeah its pretty good from what I saw the specs of the moto g are nearly comparable with the gs3. now I see why this phone is rather popular I thought it was because it was cheap but it has a low price mixed with legit specs.

No. I don't recommend getting it wet at all of you can help it. I show this to show that it can survive in water but who knows what will happen to it in all actuality. P2i says that the coating is simply just splash resistant. So water droplets are meant to bead up and roll off and not interfere. But if it's dropped in water, it's always possible for impurities to cause short circuits at weak points, like the connectors. If you drop your phone in the toilet I think it will probably survive. If it gets splashed it should be fine but don't go making it a habit of dropping it in water.

Erica Griffin I think the most interesting kind of impurity in this regard is soap. Because it reduces the surface tension of water, and thus may effectively prevent the nanocoating from having any effect. If you have the possibility to test that and would like to, it would be curious to see, i think. My Huawei G600 which i've had for one and a half years and dropped 3 dozen times on concrete and asphalt, highest was about 2 meters when i was walking down the stairs and the cable of my big heavy headphones catapulted it away, which has survived all that with plastic damage but no screen damage, i was using it in a heavy rainstorm a couple weeks back, and it did act up a bit, the touchscreen got mild issues and i think the radio started acting up. I decided to spray some FILA nanocoating under the lid and near the crevices which i had around to make it less likely for rainwater to get in, but didn't get much of a chance to test its effectiveness because the weather got better, and then i got totally drunk (for the first time in years - yes, while considering a trip to Cuba, i had to try that one cocktail which consisted of 4 kinds of rum, for the incredible pun value that it delivers in some languages) and lost the phone somewhere -.- Thank you again for your reviews. I might end up considering this particular phone seriously, considering how much i accidentally drop and submerge things (i even lost a a tiny, but back then expensive MP3 player in a lake! one where swimming is forbidden btw, guess what i did!), and how good it sounds with my Zinken headphones, it totally kills the rest of them. I don't think you will ever see water underneath the display anyway, because i think it's a one-glass phone, where the screen is laminated all the way to the front glass, so if water ran in, it will be elsewhere and you wouldn't be seeing it really. It's a great thing, it removes internal boundary reflection and provides higher contrast in the sunlight.

Most phones die 1-2 months after they get wet. Happend to my phone too. I had already forgotten what happened, and suddenly it switched off, and was dead. When I saw the water indicators I remembered. Would be interesting to see if your Moto G is still working after 2 months.

I get that this has worked for most people however my Mrs dropped hers in the bath and it won't read the sim card I've left it in rice to absorb the water for 24 hours to no avail. Is it worth contacting motorola about?

There seems to be no sealed ports on this phone and the water could enter, but if the nano-coating made the mobile circuit impervious to water, the phone can still be regarded as kinds of waterproof, that's interesting.

I lost my LG G3 for 3 weeks during heavy rain for about 8 hours every day and when it was found it was just like new. It was found in longish grass..other than for that reason I don't know why anyone would need a waterproof phone.

That really depends... but honestly, I have seen much better ways to revive a phone! One of which would be to soak it in 99% Isopropyl alcohol. Isopropyl is non-conductive and quickly evaporative and can wash away the impurities that are causing chaos inside the phone... if the phone isn't damaged beyond repair already. Rice is kinda a long shot.

I dropped my 10 day old Moto G into an herbal bath, promptly removed it, dried it off, looked it over, took a few pics, then removed the back and placed in a rice bag. 3 days later I have tried to turn it on. No such luck. I have tried the On button + down volume button simultaneously and still won't turn on. Any suggestions???
