Bought this from MetroPCS, paid 181 with tax out the door. It's with out a doubt the best phone Metro has under 200 dollars. (for existing customers). The new 632 processor is rediculously fast compared to the 400 series in most budget phones. Great review as always. Glad you are back at it.

I bought this phone a few days ago when my K30 decided to give me issues reading the SIM card. My wife has the e5 and I really liked the virtually pure Android experience, so I told the Metro rep to show me the Moto devices. The first one he showed me was the G7 Power. While the phone is obviously not flagship perfect, I think Motorola stuck a solid balance of features and power for the money.

Just so everyone knows when you brought up the swipe the screen down for the quick toggles bar and swipe further for more. If you swipe the screen with 2 fingers at the same time it drops you Strait to the full toggle menus

Purchased this 3 weeks ago for $150. For my purposes, 32 gig ROM, 3 gig RAM along with the expandable sd card slot is all I need. Don't know why 4 or more gigs of RAM would matter. Love the big battery and the UI that is not full of bloatware. Comes with Android 9 and expect Android 10 in spring of 2020. I think it gotten ridiculous...phones with over 10 gigs of RAM, 128 gigs of ROM... VERY happy with this phone. 1080p screen would have been nice but for the price, awesome phone. Great call quality.

Wow. Thank you for demonstrating the Face Unlock. I've yet to see someone demoing the fact that you can go straight to the Home Screen bypassing the Screen Lock! 😉👍 I'm not a fan of the rear mounted Fingerprint Scanner, which has put me off buying many a phone, but, if you can unlock it straight to the Home Screen then I'm in! I've been on the verge of buying this for a day, or 2, being a fan of the original Moto and 3rd Gen phones. BTW, I hate notches with a passion, but I gather, you can hide this in developer options, which would be my *very* first task after setting it up!

The way to get around the poor lens aperture would be to have a light source with you in low light settings. Otherwise, it's a good enough camera.

What surprised me is how much better it was at battery life than the E5 Plus. It's almost doubled what I got it with that and even more than the S8 Active I had. It's overall the best 'bare bones' phone available. Does everything the same as flagships (Obviously not as well, and minus NFC) and very snappy. Camera is 'meh' but can be vastly improved with a GCMod5 camera hack. (A modified port of the camera from Pixel devices) Only issues I have with the phone is the 64 gb model didn't come to the US, and the material in the build feels too fragile. If it were the same as the G7 Play, I'd feel much more at ease. I do have the Otterbox case for it, but it's not as thick as I thought it would be. I'm happy the US finally has a big battery phone that isn't terrible.

Oh it is. I'm a heavy user...aka...watch movies...play games, KZbin, etc, battery is low but with the screen at 100% brightness and you can adjust it in settings...or make pre-sets...

Hey Paul,,, I'm still a Moto fan but when they dumped the ☓ pure line and went to 4x waste of time, I kinda lost my love a bit. Even the pure had its issues with the volume drop out of the blue. But that's something easy fixed. I'm very happy to see them keeping the faith with good price for pretty good quality,, but I was sure hoping for a new ☓ pure upgrade. Thanks Paul.

Great review. I value your opinion on the phones you review. I've purchased two from watching the reviews on the LG Stylo2 and 3 and I'm not pretty sold on this phone as well. Won't be buying like you did. Going through Cricket as it's been the best service for my family and I. Only difference is Cricket calls it a Motorola Moto G7 Supra. Again great review.

I just ordered me a sprint sim card for my Moto G7 Power. Going to test the Sprint network on the phone. I think At&t has the best coverage here. But Sprint is really good on my moto E5 Plus. Havent lost signal on Sprint yet.

Paul, do you offer a video that is "less about Wow, and more about How" to use this phone. There's lots of implicit knowledge in using these phones. I buy new phones about once every 4 years, so there is lots to take in with so many improvements, but not much is about "best practices." Say, if I want to charge the battery, better to let it run low for the first few cycles, then OK to top off, or continue to let it drain? To me, a brick is a brick when recharging, but travelers want a backup cable to power a phone when traveling. Will any knock off do? I have been scrambling to find a compatible iGo tip, but it looks like they never got around to a USB-C tip before shutting down the product. I'm realizing that with the finger id that it's a good idea to use a right hand finger and a back up with one from the left hand (injury, etc). Say, for the micro SD card, are there types of data that can't benefit from the addition of a card. It makes me wonder why phones offer 32 AND 64GB options if an SD card can compensate for all uses. Do you have a generalized video about things that aren't specific to one product line, but about making informed decisions about "sculpting" the phone to suit your purposes to best advantage? Or, what on earth is the cloud prompt that is showing up on my resting phone? When I respond, there is no cloud icon in the pull-down. How on earth do I find the settings gear: on the moto X it was in the pull down in the upper left corner. What are security precautions (Malware bytes)? if I get prompts pushing me to do a system update (does this mean an update from Pie to Q? How do I do so securely rather than hopping on whatever WiFi is around. I figured out that Micro USB is not the same as USB-C, but it's not clear if when adding a SanDIsk Ultra 128GB micro SDXC UHS-I Card do I need the adapter. Where do I get the tool to pop open the card slot?

This phone is really great for the price. The only thing I would change is the stupid notch on the top of the screen. Yes, it could use a better speakers, improved screen resolution, and also a better camera but even those are too bad and I know that would increase the cost of the phone. This phone is slightly thicker than my Iphone 6 plus but I actually prefer it that way because it gives me a better grip on it. Plus the battery life is WAY better than any Iphone I've had.

The G7 has a glass back, this phone however, the G7 Power, has a plastic back that does kind of feel like glass but definitely isn't.

1512x720 resolution? No thanks. That's a big disadvantage on this phone. Even the Blade Zmax had a better display (with a 4000mah battery). I like this phone, but they blew it with the display.

Jorge Xavier Lopez Get a credit card with nfc/chip/magnetic stripe to work everywhere whatever terminal you’ll encounter. Alternatively XT1955-7 model with NFC, but probably some of the US LTE bands missing. And potentially more expensive. Too bad back is not flat, in this case just glue a credit card pocket with NFC enabled card, problem solved :)))
