As an avid motorcycle rider and racer for over 40 years, I find your assessment of the Mandello extremely odd. Once broken in the engine is quite magnificent, it has all the power you could want for the type of bike it is. Handling is wonderful and the Ohlins does a fantastic job once it is set up properly. Brakes are great, The quickshifter does need some improvement, mine only has an issue going from 1st to 2nd, the rest while not perfect every time is acceptable. I understand Moto Guzzi has addressed this issue in the 2024 models making changes to the clutch. I do not feel the shaft drive issue you speak of, I have owned 38 bikes, currently I also have a Tuono 1100 Factory (Most amazing machine) and a Multistrada v4s, and a few others. I find the V100 to be almost the perfect bike, I enjoy it so much I ordered a new Stelvio. I will say when pushed extremely hard the bike is out of its comfort zone, but after all it's not a hyper naked. I actually prefer the Manello over the Multistrada V4.

Agree 100% with everything you said. I use the clutch for the 1-2 upshift but the quickshifter is fine for all others. The engine and gearbox need a couple thousand km's to break in but after that it's game on. And I wonder how many reviewers realize that full engine power is not available until after the bike has received its first dealer service?

Agreed, it's a beautiful machine, which will only get better and smoother over time. I wonder if the tester is really only used to 150hp hyper sports fours or similar. I personally think they are a breath of fresh air.

My V100S has 6K on it and revs really quick for a twin. Gear box is now snikitty great. I never use the quick shifter. Drive a broken-in bike, please. Four strokes are really tight new. I have zero issues with power anywhere but it is indeed lively above 4K. I feel no shaft effect at all compared to my R100RT, zero. It amazes me people gaslight the standard crap about Guzzi, and this is a long shot from a standard Guzzi. I love the fact that the V100S is so versatile and easy to live with. Tour, commuter, light sport? Yes, yes and yes. Pefect? No, the suspension although good is tight on square edge bumps. That's the Ohlin's not the bike. Needs storage crannies and a bigger dash. The brake dive is 100% user adjustable. So adjust it for less if that's your thing. Easy to do.

Granted, a 31 year old BMWR100RT compared to the Mandello V100S is kind of harsh. But, I could not find a shaft drive twin that was "modern" until Guzzi made the V100S. This was a take my money PLEASE purchase. Few things I buy are as spot-on as this MG V100S. It has the spunk of my 1979 CB70F and the legs of the BMW but more of both than either! The wind protection is more than good enough with a GIVI touring fairing. It is near perfect to still make you feel "out there" and not covered up in plastic. The tank wings WORK. Sorry, they are not gimmicky. Run at 48 degrees in rain mist and wind awhile and turn them in and then tell me they don't work. You'll wish the hell you didn't turn them in! Want more air in the summer? Easy, then you turn them in. I love the wings. I set the throttle to SPORT in the TOUR mode as it is more immediate, like a carburetor bike is. The drive by wire is soft at the initial opening for some reason and feels anemic. SPORT throttle response cures most of that squishyness. Being off the BMW I really notice this, still. My transmission still has a firm engagement, but it doesn't JERK anymore. It's worked that out but not the heavy CLUNK, that's still "audible" but you don't jump foreward a foot anymore if the brakes aren't applied. I also never use the quick shifter as I do it better myself. Oh I tested it and it is a second gear on up thing for sure, and is fine. I just like to shift. This bike has been needed in the market for like fifteen years! WTF everyone? Better, it is a bulls-eye on the requirements except a few niggles. The Guzzi makes a UJM seem like a specialist bike it is so good at what it does everywhere.

A motorcycle being criticized for having a "too sophisticated" suspension. That's a first for me, and frankly ridiculous. Almost as bad as the AI-generated voiceover.
@Rower30-ye6qn

The suspension isn't new at all, it is well proven and used across many bikes. That's good. The "new" aero stuff works fantastic at cool weather, like 52 F and rain you'll really miss it if it is gone. Warm, not so much. I like it as I ride all year 50F and up.

And I’m not after a tourer with extreme performance. Seating is important and the pillion was much loved by my wife when we tried the bike last summer. If I want to drive faster and have some fun in the twisties I use my Speed Twin 1200. The other option for me and my wife is a Tiger 900GT and yes it is a better bike than the Mandello on dirt roads and. Badly paved roads. Sold my Tracer 9GT as that almost gave me a heart attack on the way to a beach together with my friend. The electronics really had to work hard. Might be the tires that come as standard are bad. Nooo I would never drive hard on a dirt road with my Speed Twin. Had I wanted to I would have bought a Scrambler. Well well, by this summer the 1200 will get joined by a tourer of some sort.

I guess not everyone likes every product so I think I will put this review down to the bike not being to your taste. It would be pointless to take apart your review piece by piece so I will comment on the bit you got right. The quick shifter and gear change are poor on new machines however after you get some miles on the bike things improve, my bike now has 5000 miles on it and the whole gearbox experience os much improved .

On the bike, you can adjust the ride settings of each mode, rain settings in Sport mode and anti-skid settings in 4 modes. Since the bike responds to the throttle in sport mode 1 traction control 1 really sharply, I suspect that the sport mode settings of the bike you tested are set incorrectly.

I agree. My V100S is 100% adjutsabel to suit your needs. I set the throttle to "sport" but leave the rest alone in "tour". The sport throttle (engine) feels more like a carburator to me, faster response. But hell, go in there and adjust it and stop whinning. Sure I hated the rdie by wire at first, but adjusted it to suit, now no problems.

@@Otto-AutoPilot I agree. The Stevio isn't about being a top tier adventure bike it's about being better adapted to carry luggage and having more room on the bike. Not in love with the new WC motor I'm leaning towards the 2024 V85TT for that reason but I haven't completely ruled out the Stelvio.

Define stiff. On square edge stuff it is stiff, but not on everything else. It just can't seem to absorb harsh kicks real well. Even set as light as the comopession will go doesn't work. I'm 150 pounds, so the spring is too high a spring rate for me. If I adjust the spring lighter, the damping will be a notch gain too "tight" on square edge bumps. The valving range seems to be the problem. I'm no expert but is is a good suspension most of the time. But in no way will I say it is a magic carpet on square edge stuff.

there are channels that makes "review" videos through other reviews and spec sheets, without even having the bike. your thumbnails, which are stock photo of the bike with white background and text, makes it seem like you are one of them. you have great footage troughout gorgeous places, consider making your thumbnails with your shots. black and nontextured regular font in front of solid yellow rectangle is also makes it looks like a low-effort video. all this and low view figures may make people think it is a content-farm channel, when they see it on their recommendations. aand what's with the different voice in your earliest video i can see (f 850 gs one) is it ai? was that your own voice but, this is ai? are you using fiver voice actors? new sub btw

Outdated? Seriously? This bike was too long in coming after awkward ADV bikes. It is plenty modern. Mileage I get 52-54 MPH on mine all the time, 6K milke average is over 50 MPG mixed. Complain about the grip? There is a dedicated toggle in the display, and a few click and you are there. How many individual buttons do you want and for what? Good grief. Mirrors being weird? They work and are dead clear view behind. Not too big or small, just fine. My god man, the mirrors? This bike is hugely lighter feeling than the BMW 1250 varients, not the same bike. One loves being ridden used everywhere, he other mostly loves the Interstate. I drove them both. I sold a R100RT, so yes I started with a BMW but the new ones lost me. Way too big and heavy.
