It's actually a great bike and very individual ,I very nearly brought one but for 1 small thing ,that being I'm not the lightest person and neither my partner so I found it did struggle at motorway speeds especially if you wanted to overtake ,other than that I loved it but settled for a Yamaha niken gt instead .

Had this bike little over a year, way more fun than the GS I had. Quieter, less vibration, lighter. Great suspension and handling. Wonderful power delivery, cruise control and shaft drive. Really enjoying it for all types of riding. Been light off reading many times. For the money it gives great value. 3 drive modes.: Rain ( softer power delivery) Off_road) ( reduces traction control and turns off rear ABS ) Road (full ABS and traction control) Add in light clutch pull, Italian styling and v twin soul. Don't listen to conjecture and hyperbole , make your own choice.

@@ewooll ! wouldn't know, though i did put mine on a diet to the tune of 40 LBs and that added grunt due to the lower weight and better breathing from a new exhaust. Just feels like there is always enough power and more than enough when you grip it and rip. Can pull smoothly from 3rd gear in tight turns.

In the 80s (Wonderwoman remembers) I (Kiwi) bought a Guzzi V50II and rode it to work every day for a year (digging holes in London with a shovel for a pittance), all around England and Wales (froze my hands there in Wales and met some Welsh guy that abused me for some rugby match 20 years before...hands never been the same but wrapped in newspaper what would you expect)..then took my bike to Guzzi shop in London, fitted a carrier and strapped a second hand backpack onto it with bungy cords, bought a shit tent for $20 and took my Guzzi across Europe to Israel. And all around that land. Sold it there (tell no one) and used the money to travel to Kenya with the Danish girl I met on the kibbutz in Israel. So...just grow a pair guys. Figure out what an adventure bike means to you...or what an adventure means to you...and, if this BS virus lets you...just go and do it on any bloody bike you can afford. They'll all take you most places. Any and all of them. When my Danish girl and I got back to London we bought a Honda 250 road bike that had taken a couple to Greece and back. We put thousands of miles on it. And if dickheads on 1200 cc Beemers pass you on the way wish them good luck. Oops. Rambling. Love that Guzzi. They have soul. All of them.

@@raycollington4310 The problem with people who own Italian bikes/Cars is that they think them or someone who knows nothing more than japanese inline4 or toyotas can service/repair their bikes/cars for cheap. That's where all the problems begins. I have an Italian car that doesn't have intake cam, but an "expert" car mechanic was telling me that your car has a problem with intake cam. Not only that, they think that you can use some cheap oil and be ok. The problems starts when some nobody with greasy hands touches our motorcycle. Italian bikes/cars need special skills/experience that your average dealer/garage don't have.

@@raycollington4310 PS Looks like some of the big brands didn't like teh fact that V85TT became an instant sale success. It's not a coincidence that dozens and dozens of GS owners, Tenere1200 owners are trading their overpriced piece of crap just to ride a bike that puts out only 80hp/80Nm. That speak volumes of how good this bike is.
@dougfielding8215

@@ampm9771 I don't care about horse power, give me torque! (Besides, 80 HP is more than enough). My Kawasaki W800 only has 52hp and it goes like hell when I twist the throttle (see Dino's Vault and his test ride of the W800 Street). It has lots of torque. I love the looks of this Guzzi, especially in the white and red. The dry clutch scares me a little. I have heard that with the dry clutch it needs to be adjusted more often and the friction point is different when the engine is cold compared to when it is hot (only what I've heard on the comment sections). I have had good experiences with push-rod engines like in Harleys. I also have a thing for air cooled bikes.

its got a 6 gallon tank and 300 mile range, the longish travel suspension is great for moderate off roading and exploring. There's alot more potential in the bike if one removes all the heavy accoutrements. Rear rack is an anchor one could save 10 LBs with a lighter smaller one. Exhaust system and lithium battery can save you 20 LBs and increase power.

I couldn't buy this bike over the KTM 790 adventure or Yamaha T7. I think you get a lot more for the money from those bikes than this Moto Guzzi, despite the cool factor of the V85TT. However, there's going to be a 100th anniversary model of the V85TT coming later this year from what I hear and it looks very sharp. Can anyone comment on how to protect the engine if the bike tips over off road on rocks? @@actstuntcam 15kg extra over tenere? you wanna know where it went? went into zero maintenance shaft drive and transmission, went to 24l fuel tank, went to sturdy air-cooled engine casing that is the stressed member, it went into a great and comfortable chassis, it went to tubeless wheels. And no, you're not gonna break any part of v85 if you drop it because its air-cooled engine is pretty mutch bullet proof. On he other hand, T7's crank case and clutch cover are just a little over 3mm thick aluminium that can easily break and render the already overpriced crap useless. You drop the T7 and you'll have bent chassis and most probably broken engine casing and oil all over the place unless you put protective rubber cover on it. Yamaha salesmen are laughing so hard for flogging an overpriced crap to their avid fans. And I'm not talking about KTM 790 as it doesn't need an introduction as the most unreliable and overpriced piece of junk out there. That's why it depreciates like a n skyscraper sinking in water. The problem with the V85TT, although it is a wonderful bike (I own one), the main issue is the gearing. It revs waaaaaaay too high for highway speeds. 120 km/h is something like 4500 RPM, while 140 km/h is around the 5300 RPM mark, from an engine that redlines at 8000 RPM, that's a lot. And because of that, it consumes a lot of oil.

Old technology? what is new technology in your mind? I am guessing by modern you mean Japanese bikes, right? New technology like the outdated cable throttle on all Japanese bikes? or the sub par brakes of Japanese bikes? or nonexistent electronics of them? or perhaps their 1970s chassis and 1960s engine? which Japanes bike has titanium valves? which aircooled japanese bike can 0ut out 80hp? Tenere 700's 700cc watercooled engine can hardly put out 74hp. Or the traction control on japanese bikes that almost never work. You know what is really modern? having separate gearbox and engine oil. Having a dry clutch can last the lifetime of the owner. being able to service the bike in 1/4 of the time other bikes require. What else? having the engine as the stressed member. V85TT is more modern that all Japanese bikes put together including Honda's latest and greatest.

@@ampm9771 Old technology compared to its competitors. Compared to the bmw gs, triumph tigers and the ducati multistradas they look old tech and oldschool in comparison. I like the way it looks. @@STIjojoSTI Still, you haven't answered which part of V85TT is old technology? the looks of it? or there is a part of it you consider old? First you have to define what old technology is. If anything, BMW is using the most outdated and impractical design that is boxer. Ducati is still using it's 1970s valve technology, triumph is using 1930s spring valve technology. I am really curious to know what part of it is old technology. You know what is old technology? Triumph's 900cc watercooled tripple putting out only 95hp. By the same merit That's too old, and V85 putting out 80hp out of an true aircooled 850cc twin is way modern by comparison. I am sorry to say, but most people have no clue what's modern what's old.

Air cooled engines don't radiate as much heat as the water-cooled. Water cooled engines make more power and easy to pass emissions but the air cooled engines are simple and easy to work on. Less shit to break.

I love the looks - It is so pretty. However, it is wayyyyyyyy too expensive. I would want twice the horsepower and half the weight for those $s. (and still wouldn't but one at those prices. The T7 is the only reasonably priced ADV out at the moment.) And now it is even more expensive... so no thanks MotoGuzzi. Love all the colours though.

@@ampm9771 Agreed the Guzzi definitely looks like a quality ride. It is definitely my favorite looking ADV by a mile. Maybe the price difference is less in Europe (or you have lots of money and $2000 euro doesn't mean anything to you). In New Zealand the T7 is $17,000 and the Guzzi is $22,000 (Let's say the new price is more for the 2021 model. Perhaps - $23,500nz. That is somewhere between $5000 - $6500 cheaper for the T7. That is a LOT of coin. Don't get me wrong if the Guzzi was 10kg lighter and had a cable-operated throttle, and no-rider modes and no traction control, I'd definitely consider one. If I had $23,000 going spare.

I really wanted one of these. I thought it looked beautiful. And with the luggage pack and shaft drive, it was practical too. Then I rode it. What a disappointment. The engine doesn't vibrate, the whole bike does! The suspension is awful. In fact all the problems mentioned by testers, were not just true, but actually worse. I last rode a Guzzi in the 80s and it was better. Such a shame.
