Stopping in Kellets took me back to my first 100mile plus run with cycling club. I was in my late 20.s and thought I was fit having cycled many years on my own. We were coming back via Kellet and a chap called Frank was on the front. 71 yr old. Putting down the power. I was going off the back of group knackered. I could.nt believe it. Almost in tears. Ego well and truly shattered. Learned so much about riding from those guys. Frank had an aerial red hunter. Nice. He was on push bike then of course!

@@ianhughesroyalenfield Agree; as one of your commenters said the “Interceptor effect”. There does seem to be a small shift towards smaller bikes as people reject overpriced, overweight, and overrated large capacity bikes. I just hope the manufacturers don’t ruin the sector pandering to the more power/faster brigade as has happened with the move from sport bikes to adventure bikes a few years back. As I’m getting older I’m enjoying riding smaller bikes. I’ve lost all interest in going fast; preferring to watch the beautiful countryside glide past as opposed to concentrating hard on just the tarmac in front of me. With bikes like the Classic and Himmy and to a lesser degree the Inty this is a pleasure to do. If the manufacturers force the more power/faster route on us then that will be spoilt. I know, im getting to be a miserable old git🤪

You are not wrong though. It is rumoured that Honda are looking at introducing another bike based on the Hornet/Transalp 750, the GB750. If Japanese media press are to be believed, and if it looks like their render’s, then it might just be something to consider in the future. It will obviously be in a less manic state of tune, but would be a nice addition to the stable, obviously providing it was priced right. I do still like a bike that I can get a wriggle on occasionally, and tbh, I didn’t realise just how much until I rode both the Hornet and this Morini 😎, though it may not be a good thing 😂. I know I pixelated the speedo, and although I was being a bit naughty, it wasn’t anywhere near three figures……..honest 😇 I do still like a bimble though, as my ride from yesterday proves 🙂. @@ianhughesroyalenfield I enjoy a wiggle too. There is a route I use to get to the dales, it’s a decent rural A road. On the Himmy I’m content at 50/60. On the CBF or Z those speeds are boring, so it’s an easy 70/80; more with a wiggle. You did right to pixelate the speedo. Not sure if the pigs can actually prosecute coz the speedo hasn’t had a calibration check; best to be on the safe side though but. Worryingly the pigs do have the power to confiscate your camera if they pull you over on the road and use the content as evidence of dangerous driving etc to back up their own camera evidence. If the camera records Ton plus speeds that they haven’t got then; Oh dear! Mannor Farm Cafe at Bellerby is doing bike nights again. The cafe building isn’t open but Rachel uses the Chuck Wagon she used during Covid and for outside catering events. Tonight’s special is chicken kebab, yummy. Taking Ann up when she comes in from work; it’s on 5 till 8; should be fun. Watch how you go mate. Lookin forward to your next review if you do one. I like your “wiggle” version of my “wriggle”, made me giggle. Honestly, I don’t do a ton, might look like it on the vid, but it was a bit off. Kawasaki are also rumoured to be bringing out an inline 4 cyl RS version, utilising the new Ninja 400 engine. That would be nice too. I am pleased that you enjoyed the review vids, but strangely enough, I am unsure how many agree with you. On both the Hornet and this one, I have lost subscribers. I know they do come and go, but it’s strange. Hopefully my recent ones will reassure people that I am still a ride based channel, I just hoped the reviews would bring a little something extra. I will continue to do them, and monitor it. A lot of review channels, just take the bikes on short rides and do a scripted walk round. I am not like them, believing that it’s best to just try and portray the feeling anyone would get if they too were on the bike, and ride like, let’s face it, they would ride too. Have a good ride to the bike night. All the best.

The dash was ok as long as the sun wasn’t on it, pretty good bike though, quite high spec’s but Hornet is better despite non adjustable suspension. 😉

Looks to have some good mirrors on it Ian , Ooooh Another one to the fold on new twin middleweights at an affordable price .It's not a bad looking bike either so they have moved away from the old twin configuration too .Twins seem to be the trend at the moment could this be the Royal Enfield effect Ian ? because more and more folks are going in the direction of more affordable bikes or should I say sensibly priced bikes maybe 😉.TFT's and the sunlight ! think I'd rather have a decent set of clock's. Nice run there much enjoyed and well done , think I might prefer the Hornet though Ian .👌👍

Yes,m they do seem to be trying to fight the Indian’s at their own game. Glad to know I am not the only one who remembers the old Morini V Twins. They weren’t as popular as the other middleweight Italian offerings. I though they were quite quirky, but preferred the Ducati Pantah 500 and Laverda Montjuic 500…..it didn’t really matter as they were all way out of my reach. 🙄. The dash on these things, would be a deal breaker for me, as I much prefer a round clock, and preferably two round clocks. The dash on this, is what let’s it down, it’s a shame as the rest of the package is quite unbeatable at the price. The high and wide bars do take a bit of getting used to, and I wouldn’t mind trying the more road focused version. Will have to see if they will let me loose on another 🙏, maybe after watching this video, they might have second thoughts 😂, oh and yes the Hornet would be my preferred option too. I am just rendering a nice sedate Clementine video, which will hopefully be out later 😉 Thanks Mal.

Hi Ian, how does the moto morini compare to your royal Enfield

I presume you are thinking about the Interceptor 650 I used to own. They are like Chalk and Cheese. With the Morini being a water cooled engine of modern design, it is quicker in both acceleration and top speed, smooth and predictable. The handling is quite stiff, but could be adjusted and the brakes were outstanding being proper Brembo’s. The engine did lack the charm and character of the Interceptor. The suspension and brakes on the Interceptor do feel quite harsh and budget in comparison to the Morini. The Morini felt a bigger bike, the high and wide bars feeling odd at first, but I became quite comfortable with them within a short amount of time. I also think the Morini seat was more comfortable than the original Interceptor seat, but on a par with the Interceptor touring seat I had on mine. As you are probably aware, I am a huge RE fan, but the Seiemmezzo is certainly a good bike. What would worry me though, is depreciation. I think you would have to keep it for a good few years, so as to not feel the hit, but that said, depreciation on RE’s isn’t great either. I feel like I have waffled on a bit, but unless you have ridden both, it’s hard to make an easy, straightforward comparison 😂

@hobnob15 oooo, I would say it wasn’t really suited to green laning. Perhaps the X-Cape would be a better choice. Same engine, tuned slightly differently (I think), same mechanicals again configured differently, but more of an adventure bike. True, the Seiemmezzo does have off road looks, but I wouldn’t 😉 The Himi would be way more at home on the rough stuff, and would make a better winter bike, but obviously a lot slower.

I’ve seen the x-cape but didn’t want to go down the adventure style again (owned GSA’s and Tiger’s before) I like the scrambler look and was looking at a triumph 1200xc but wanted a smaller cc bike. The Himmy is good but compromised in performance and vibe in higher rev range. Paul

@hobnob15 yes, fully understand where you are coming from. The Seiemmezzo isn’t a small bike, the seat feels quite wide too. It’s a bit of an odd one to be honest. Have you considered the new Triumph 400 X ? I haven’t seen one on the flesh, but by all accounts it looks a belter. From the YT videos I have seen, they have satisfactory performance too, better than a Himi. Price seems to be quite keen, and residual value will be better, even if they are made in India (?). The only downside being that they are not due for deliveries until early next year, and that is if you were to order one now. CF Moto build the KTM 690 engine & uses the same engine in the CF Moto 700 road bike & Adv bike.The 700cc is alot more powerful than the 650 considering it's only 40-50cc more.I'd say that's due to the 650cc being marketed to the LAMS market Learner bike in NZ 🇳🇿, Ausie as it's done by power to weight ratio.The CF Moto Adv bike is fully loaded & thousands cheaper than competition.Once word gets out it's the KTM 690 engine it'll be popular being great value for money.This brand is Italian designed & tested & built in China similar to Royal Enfield & they also make a Adv bike.

Yes, I did some research since this ride, and the 700 does look the more “exciting” engine. They really are a bargain when you look at the specs. Anyone looking for their first big bike, would be surprised at what these have to offer, when compared to the Japanese offerings. Isn’t it funny though, how the Japanese basically copied the British bikes, but improved them, and now the Chinese are copying the Japanese bikes, selling them cheaper but with higher specifications.

Popular for these modern bikes to have tyre hugger & plastic grab rails.Plastic grab rails were a option on the Trident 🔱 but I researched Trident 🔱 before buying & found better aftermarket grab rails & a tail tidy.Went to put tail tidy on today but needed star torx sockets so getting some on Friday.

It sounded awful, wheezy as fk. Unsure just how fully adjustable the suspension is, but with a good setup, it wouldn’t have been as jarring. It was quite fatiguing, especially towards the end. Brakes were astonishing. Cheers RR

I did notice that you really need to be in the right gear for situations. Unlike my RE’s where you can negotiate low speed corners or junctions, and pull away smoothly, this 650 twin really didn’t like them. Hard to explain, but I know what I mean 😂

Agreed, it is a bike that was off my radar, as I had ridden a Street Triple 765 (I think) and found it too hard, too uncomfortable and too track focused. So after that, I just didn’t bother about them. The Trident still looks fun, without being silly 😜

They come stock with Bluetooth connectivity? Trident 🔱 had it as a option for $500nz plus the module to connect it $750 & I don't use or know how to use it so Buggar that & the $700 went on Quick Shifter option & bobbins.Try a Trident 🔱 if you can.
