In the Marines we strictly used an AOA indicator on the glare shield when doing carrier landings. We only crossed checked the airspeed indicator once to verify that the AOA indicator was within limits.

Absolutely. I have 242 carrier landings in an F4 and hardly every looked at the ASI

I have an AoA and I really like it, I like that it shows how much 'lift reserve' I have. BUT - I know that in gusty crosswind situations; it just doesn't accurately represent what's going on.

Great videos but shot in calm air. In my experience, AOA is hard to read or worse when it's even a little gusty. And in other than very gentle maneuvers, pitch doesn't lead AOA like it leads airspeed, but AOA leads pitch! The exact opposite! So yes, you're showing the good side of AOA, but only the good side. There's a forum at Oshkosh that discusses all these limitations on Monday at 10 in the NAFI tent, next to Theater in the Woods.
