The 2024 AT is a great upgrade, finally honda have fitted tubeless wheels (which will benefit atleast 90% of owners, who spend most of their riding on roads). Out of all the big ADV bikes I’ve owned or spent a decent time on, the Honda showa electronic suspension is the best. So with those new additions and cruise control, an adjustable screen and Apple CarPlay, the AT is the top of the pile for me now 👍🏻

Set up your suspension for off road without extra payload and then you will only need quick preload change when you add payload.

Thanks for your very well-balanced review. Just watched it again and the following thoughts have surfaced for me. The 2024 Africa Twin is an incredible improvement on the release of the 2020 model when it was upgraded to the current 1,084cc motor. The torque has increased and is much smoother and more measured in its deployment from zero to high rpm. It really is a pearler of a twin motor with a great traditional 'twin' sound with the upgraded 2024 muffler. I'm a fan and a Honda tragic from way back and can hardly wait to own one. I would very much like to buy the '25 model next year. HOWEVER, Honda will NOT be getting my money until at least some or all of the following glitches/negatives are resolved: 1) The atrociously long time it takes to boot the TFT screen and THEN it requires a touch on an 'OK' button before giving you access. WTF Honda?! No other manufacturers spoil the ride experience like this so WTF Honda?! 2) The switchgear needs an overhaul - simplify it AND include backlighting 3) An easy way to get the seat height BELOW 800mm. Please don't try to tell me it can't be done Honda. I'm 5'6" (167cm) and I would like to be able to flatfoot. 795mm seat height is a worthy goal Honda. 4) For the top-of-the-line model (mainly road use owners) ditch those ridiculous spoked wheels and give us some tasteful forged cast aluminium wheels. Cleaning spokes is an absolute nightmare. We already have enough cleaning with the chain drive, so, please Honda - some alloys. 5) For two-up touring it most definitely needs some more power. They should either bump the capacity to 1250cc for another 30hp OR, preferably, finally release the supercharged model on which they hold a Japanese patent and as such has been in development since 2019. One would think that simply in the name of competition with the Multistradas, GS1300s, Triumphs et al, Honda would want to increase the power at least somewhat. It is great for low speed stuff but 2-up with luggage on the highway it does need quite a bit more. Please! (from all reports the supercharger design is for low-mid range torque - not meant to be a high-rev Kawasaki H2 competitor). 6) Not mandatory for my purchase but, with DCT, a reverse gear for parking such a heavy baby would be handy. You'd only need 'impulse power' Scotty :-) 7) Does that great sounding rear muffler really have to be the size of a boat anchor? So there's my list of gripes for a bike I love a lot. My wishlist. How about it Honda - all for '25?
@loblolly7778 ай бұрын
Couldn't agree more. Lots of people complaining about the 19" front on the Adventure Sport, but in 2024 Honda have simply given you the best of both worlds. I have a 2023 Adventure Sport, but if I was going again, it would be the base model with ES and I would probably stay with the DCT as well. Maintains the offroad focus of the base model (without compromising it in any way), but with options for all the goodies that were only previously available on the Adventure Sport.

Thanks for another awesome review. I just can't get my head around the 19" front on the Adventure. Down here in Africa and probably Aus we need fuel range. So the Adventure model would be the default for proper overlanding. BMW or Honda, same option for both. Who love fuel bladders 😮 So why would you buy the larger fuel tank bike if you not planning to do proper overlanding? If you gonna do proper overlanding you need a 21" front. This is the same as Land Rover fitting out a old Defender with road tyres and suspension as factory and trying to sell you a Discovery as the most capable model.

With all my tech bits nothing broke and everything still worked. Got a few scrapes which i like having on the bike showing everyone what a bad ass i am. ;) Im bias.

When i selected my adventure bike i made sure i rode them all. And i did. I rode the AT, GS, Tiger's, Tenere, i opted not to do KTM because i loath the way they look. If it were the best id hate walking up to it. I took the Duc because it was the most comfortable ergo, AND ride quality. Super soft if you want, nice and hard if you need it, fantastic sport which none of the others offer, and capable off roading. Like i said i ride off road and on w/ this lots of moto camping, it has the chops to do it all. Heated grips AND seat, radar cruise, quick shifter, rev match i mean it does do it all. The others did some or most but not all of that. On top of that the next best GS was not as comfortable in the ride quality! Im splitting hairs here but if I'm dropping 30k on a bike I'm gonna SPLIT HAIRS. Brand aside i was biased and came away buying the duc and loving it for it.

Ye I can answer that, I have my Africa twin 1100 since 2020, I have clocked 60k miles on it, everything works still as the day I bought it 4 years ago. All the tech and electronics work , it's been through lots of rainy days so it has a few rust spots but nothing that is of any concern,mostly paint chipping off. I dropped it in mud a few times,not too much cause I didn't really take it through mud like a dirt bike but did many gravels and soft dirt roads, many many motorways miles and lots of city ride too. That's an average of 15k miles a year on it, it's bulletproof.

In the US you can’t get electronic suspension on the standard Africa Twin!

I did a 5 day advanced riding course through my job as a first responder, I can vouch for the value of receiving training, it made me a much better rider after 30 odd years on the road. Dont be the rider who thinks they know everything, there is always room for improvement. And its kinda fun, tooling around on bikes with a bunch of like minded people.

I have a 2021 and I have to say the thing that I notice the most is the stock suspension. The front forks "dive" under front braking. Does it feel the same with the 2024 model?
