Thanks for the comparison! Blows my mind how many people are willing to put cheap garbage parts on a bike that’s worth thousands especially when it’s concerning safety smh…

I prefer to buy quality when I can but £170 for indicators which are likely to be the first thing damaged in a tumble or riding within tight traffic. For that price you could buy 25 pairs of the cheap ones and just swap them out when needed.

Thanks for the video. You mentioned the cheap ones being non directional and the caps falling off. I'm actually counting on that because I'm putting these in the open tube ends of my hard tail I'm building and I'm going to change out the end caps for clear plastic so they can be seen better from the rear.

Both are "landfill lamps" since when the LEDs fail the whole thing will need to be replaced. The brighter ones might be because the LEDs are being driven harder and may well fail sooner. Either way £170 is taking the piss. 😀

Nope. 170 Quid for 2 indicators? Niet, nein, non. I'll go with 7 GBP a pr, a bit of Loctite on the loose stud, and a bit of ingenuity to get them to stay put in the bars...

I bought 2 pair of the cheap flashers For a tenner Inc Post, the loose issue is easily solved with locktight 365 or similar, they are as bright if not brighter than indicators that have been on bikes for years, if one fails you have a couple of spares, who in their right mind would pay nearly 200 notes for Mr gadget ones🤔

I have definitely given up buying cheap junk off ebay. I have a classic Mustang and was buying cheap stop and tail bulbs but they kept popping at an alarming rate. There is an LED conversion now but I then found a supply of 12 Lucas new old stock bulbs. Having replaced the cheap ones they have been in the car for about 3 years now and still going strong.

That is a brilliant review Craig.........we need more of these. SAFETY is always a major concern when building bikes and the MotoGadget indicators have been designed to address that. They are designed to be seen and to work reliably which is so important when riding a bike. The main question is.........what price does SAFETY come at? These manufacturers of the cheap stuff don't even know what SAFETY means!!

As a Yamaha guy I’ve always hated the huge orange indicators they use, one of the first things I did to my FZ09 was get a set of Ducati indicators and throw them on the front, fit the bike way better and actually looks like it’s meant to be there.

Great stuff. Pretty sure I've got both of those. The cheap plastic ones I dismissed almost immediately, my main concern being they wouldn't be bright enough in summer sunshine. The M-blaze are completely the other end of the spectrum, hence the price. They are well made and it shows. Positively ooze quality. The M-blaze has 3 LED's, 2 to face forward, 1 for rearward (based on the logic you want traffic in front to know your intentions maybe a bit more urgently than traffic behind), consequently you have to get the angle correct when fitting. (Which does annoy me about the cheap ones, there's a ring of LED's all the way around which seems a waste to me. Who else will you be signallng to? Aircraft and moles?) M-blaze orientation is all in the instructions. Current consumption is half an Amp, for each lamp. As for longevity, don't know yet, only one way to find out! 😁 Unless you know already.

I ran out of money and bought the cheap Chinese ones. They are exactly as expected. The black end caps fall off, they come loose and slide out, and the black plastic cracks. They probably won't last long, which is expected really, and that's why I bought a spare set. Lol

I can't remember the cut off date in the UK for needing indicators as a legal requirement, mid to early 80's? Always a bonus for building a bike registered prior to that cut off date as i just friggin' hate the things. Hand signals... only way fwd....

The bigges different is that the motogadgets are approved for front indicator use only. The cheap ones are approved for front and rear like ox-eye indicators.
@Nickel_Element-28
@Nickel_Element-28 2 жыл бұрын
@Eddie Hitler ok, in germany you usually need front and rear indicators. Up to the year 86, turn signals on the handlebars are theoretically sufficient, since they can be seen from the front and from behind but they must also be approved for this use. However, the motogadget indicators are only approved for use as front indicators. Which lacks the approval that they can also replace the rear turn signals. You know what i mean?

The cheap units have cheap LEDs and and won't last anywhere near as long as the Motogadget ones, you'd be lucky to get a couple of years out of them. I'm looking into LED indicators for one of my old Bonnies as the incandescent bulbs look dim in comparison to modern lights and tend to get lost on busy roads especially in poor light conditions. Trying to find decent lamps that will work with positive earth systems that are the right size is stretching my GoogleFu to say the least, plenty of cheap options out there but I don't want to be replacing lamps every five minutes...

@noggintube

At 7 quid, that's over 20 pairs and a fair bit of change before you get close to the others. Unfortunately this is why Chinese rubbish has been so successful, it's so cheap it's disposable and more cost effective than quality stuff. Shame as we'll have to rely on this rubbish as the quality competition goes out of business.

They're expensive cos they're made in Germany and are TUV approved. I'm sure I saw a video on KZbin showing the MotoGadget factory, low volume production and almost clinically clean and tidy. Once you've seen the video you appreciate why they cost so much. I've got the smaller M-Blaze units on my Interceptor, resisted spending on them for ages but after trying lots of cheaper ones, I would've saved if I'd just bought the quality ones first time round...not only money but time and happiness 😁

Give me some feedback John. To low? To High? Its very difficult sometimes, I drop the volume and i get people who cant hear it, I increase the volume and I get the odd person saying to high, and I get people saying its spot on dont touch it, its soooo difficult to get it right for everyone's device they watch on, some on TVs some on computers and phones and some with headphones or they have everything running through big speakers, it really is hard getting it right for every single person, I drive myself nuts this end with settings and feedback of people thats all different.
