This was Kevin digging deep and not giving in to the pain and discomfort he was in. I can remember him being 6 inches sideways coming out of Coppice on every lap. Talk about determined to win🇺🇸

Just another example of why 34 is my all-time favorite rider. Unbelievable determination and passion. He caught my eye for the first time when I watched him wallowing and wobbling out of high-speed turn 10 at Sears Point on a Yamaha FJ600 during some endurance race back in the early 80’s. It just wasn’t right, this kid was pushing the absolute limits, and it was twisting and flexing like crazy! Can’t remember how he finished, all I remember is laughing my ass off every time he came by! Of course I became his biggest fan immediately, and it was great to see him ride with that exact same determination throughout his career, and great to see him win the biggest championship in motorcycle road racing. Thanks for the entertainment!

@stevebigansky93722 жыл бұрын
Great idea, but if they DID bring the 500's back, the entire grid would probably consist of less than 10 riders because everyone else would be in a hospital
@8ballout2 жыл бұрын
If you can’t handle the bike you shouldn’t ride in that class. I’m not saying the riders these days aren’t skilled by no means but I don’t find it too exciting watching a data technician setting up the electronics to give the bike less power in lower gears or to control wheel spin. That’s a riders job. And I also know, you’d love to see the 500’s back as well. 😝

@@bustinjieber9539the middle part of field is more competitive nowadays, but the top guys of the 80s and 90s would be at marquez or bagnaia level not aleix espargaro or jack millers for example

@@ivanarmero7258 you cant compare an electronic digital wizard MotoGP bike to a 90s v4 500cc analog two different worlds grand prix 500 2 strokes are true racing machines that you will never see the likes of again and there was no air bags in leathers and air fences schwantz and doohan Gardner and many others raced with grand prix spirit you can only really find that same spirit today at the isle of man tt but that's just my view

Donnington is among my favorite tracks to race in my sims (esp the national layout), but it would be one of the most terrifying IRL for me. Those Crainer Curves would scare me to death, the slightest mistake and id be going throught the grass at well over 120 mph (i forget exactly how fast, Its been a long time since I've driven Donnington in a sim)

@matthewhelton17253 жыл бұрын
Yeah, It was the dawn of Doohan's complete domination of MotoGP for the next 5 seasons: The a first of string of World Championships from 1994-1998. But this doesn't take anything away from Kevin's Ride at Donington in '94: Kevin's win that day was by pure grit and dogged determination: His wrists were shot, he was riding with broken bones, against Honda NSR500s which easily had 10-20 horsepower over his RGV-500 Gamma. A Great Win. Kevin retired later that year, but his mark on MotoGP endures.

It is only if you think it is; Objectively, it is dangerous, but to the riders, it is a calculated risk. Now, go back to wearing your rose tinted glasses and sipping your soy latte's. You'll never know, because you never even tried.

Schwantz was a mediocre driver, although he gave a lot of show, who was only able to win a world championship the year in which Rainey was left in a wheelchair, when he had been beaten by three world championships in a row.
