Your right, there are limits in place in the factory programing on the ECU of the Triumph Rocket 3. I picked up a 2021 Rocket 3GT last month, and if you do your research via the forums, you'll stumble across new ECU maps and methods to which you'll be able to reprogram the bike. The new ECU maps will remote the power limiters on the first three gears, and likely the top end, although I don't have a need to do over 130MPH on any of my rides, for purposes of testing, this bike can absolutely go much fast than 130. Needless to say, this bike is not short on power, anywhere.

I test rode the lastest gen Rocket three in Thailand. Top end is limited but still more than any sensible rider would need. The lowering of the centre of gravity has improved the agility and handling no end. My ride took me into the twisting mountain roads of Northern Thailand, I was impressed. The thing that won me was the effortless highway cruising , the smoothness and enough torque to pull a house down.

You can get rid of both the speed limiter, as well as the ride by wire restrictions. Even in Sport mode, when you give it 100% throttle, the ECU never delivers more than 64%... I'm very jealous of the track width, length and how smooth it appears. I do land speed racing at the Bonneville Salt Flats which is well known for the many records set there. However, salt has less grip and generally not as smooth as even rough pavement. The surface changes from being like wet sand to being hard enough to leave rubber tire marks down. Two of the biggest drawbacks are the density of altitude (5000 to 7200 feet) and the lack of tire adhesion. I'll be running a modified first gen Rocket 3 in August with almost no stream lining, I just hope I can hang on.

Another big disappointment was the ninja h2, the speedo and the actual vbox gps both didn't go above 299 and the bike had an incredible about of punch still left. The only surprise was the 2021 hayabusa , the speedo was of course only limited to 299 ( analogue ) but the bloc kept climbing until it reached 302 kmph true speeds. I am not a cruiser guy but the Rocket3r is an amazing bike to ride. I have burnt the clutch plates of bikes like the Indian roadmaster but the rocket 3r can take an amazing amount of hard riding ( I took it to a race track and did 10000 kms around india in one go). As far as the context of this video goes - being fast and top speeds, it was more of a landmark moment taking it around the world's fourth longest high speed test track rather than anything else with the rest of the motorcycles. Not really, a CBR125 accelerates faster than a 40 tonne lorry. Acceleration is all about power to weight, just compare the power to weight figures for a 600cc sport bike compared to this fat monster and the reasons will be obvious. Top speed, given enough distance to build up speed, is a different matter, and is all about wind resistance. Again, the 600 sport bike will be far more slippery at high speed. But this is not what these fat muscle bikes are about anyway, they are all about presence, arm wrenching low speed torque and bragging rights. Definitely winning on those points.

Lower the bike by 3 inches, move the foot-pegs forward, add pull-back handlebars, and we have a Rocket III cruiser

You mean the GT model? Bar the lowering, doesn’t need lowered imo 🤔

a great bike but how quickly can it stop?
@grikor12 жыл бұрын
It has massive Bremobo brakes. No worries the stopping power is more than appropriate.

More to the point, how quickly can it go around a corner?

Surely you don't buy this bike for top speed? It's about the torque!!
@kopasznyaku Жыл бұрын
I still dont see the practical point why I would buy it. It is an expensive overkill. The design is nice, the powerplant is strong. So aging western males have the option to pose in front of twenty -thirty years younger mail order russian females. Or so they imagine.

Horsepower and torque aside. R3 Generates more HOLY SHIT!!! Everyone who reviewed it early on either said “Holy shit” or “Fooking hell!” When they rolled on the throttle. It just pulls FOREVER.
@tonyg95112 жыл бұрын
Here in NZ legally it goes 100kph.

There has to be something limiting the top speed of this bike. My old 93 Vmax did 145 mph before it felt like the shaft drive connection right by your foot was going to explode. My 04 GSXR750 has taken me 168 mph shown on the gauge. Hell even my 95 Harley springer softail has gone 125 mph but it sure wasn’t happy about it 😝. There has to be more in that huge motor that is being held back by gearing or electronics

My old 2005 ZX636R showed 175mph on the speedo.

I'm sure it's electronically governed.

Yup rev limited on two top gears, first three gears limited to 70% throttle WOT max leaving only fourth open, I ride mine a lot in fourth 😉 looking to get a gen 1 vmax, the poster bike that made me want to ride in the early 90s, 😎 ride safe brother

With 51.3K subscribers, there are 700K+ views I agree it’s over 2 years. Even then it’s a commendable feat. There are channels where there are a million Subscriber’s but each video gets less than 100K Views. Engagement is more important than subscriber base.

Why do yoi want 2500 cc engine if your speed is restricted.

Comfortably cruise at 180 all day? Not on a naked bike. Or are you calling a couple of hours all day. This is obviously a PAID COMMERCIAL.

What was in your backpack? I feel like that alone cost you 10kph... and the phone mount maybe 5 🙂 Did you feel the gearing was the limiting factor or were you simply out of power at 235?

i love my 2005 R3 Classic. The first generation classic can hit 140MPH with ease with CAT Box eliminated and Triumph offroad pipes. I am surprised this latest model cannot attain more "Legally". As for the video,, TY for sharing but please pass on that the rider need not keep his fingers on the clutch unless he is using it. Also what is that on his/her back?
