Very nice. I had a 1981 LMII bought in 1984 until 2009 when health forced sale - so I had to laugh when you said the SP seat was uncomfortable. I now ride a '78 V1000 Convert with sidecar. I've driven them both across europe. Lovely to see your bikes in such good condition.

Two really cool sports tourers. And well done on the custom colour schemes. From the video they look as if they came that way from the factory.

I have a SP II that I bought new in 85. Done many trips with it, in all conditions. I changed the stupid 16" front wheel with a 18", and the handling became "normal". I use the LM II baffles instead of the two side fairings as this way maintenance is easier, and protection is still good. Mirrors don't show much what happens behind, I use only a one, larger than the original. A part from this, 70k on the clock, still the original engine, clutch and gearbox. What does one want more from a bike?

Awesome bikes and very tasteful paintwork.

Well done, both bikes look very nicely restored, good comparison and description, the SP 1 is very underrated motorbike IMV. Handles as good as a LM. effortless 140km/hr touring, unbelievable fuel economy. Mines waiting for a restoration, 1981 SPNT?

Hey people, I’ve always lusted after a Moto Guzzi and now I probably can. My first look at a Guzzi was a mates 850 Le Mans. Then I spied the SP100 in light blue I think. Can anyone tell me what the SP’s morphed into up until the present which is I assume the Mondello V100?
@ilovecake508 ай бұрын
The V100 is an all new engine, not sure if it shares more with the small block or big block, the sp1000 engine is the big block and is the derivative for every 1100 and up bike they make

Yeah....I once asked a Moto Guzzi exec why they made four different tunings of the 850 motor when the LeMans spec was as tractable as you could want. He didn't have an answer. The SP would've been an epocal vehicle with a LeMans powerplant. Why didn't it have it?

I agree the SP is butchered when made into a cafe racer. Never ridden a guzzi, I have owned a 80's bmw RT100. I will look around for an original SP1000 to buy . I live in Perth WA.
